Omni Tucson National Resort

About Omni Tucson National Resort
Omni Tucson National Resort is one of Arizona's most historic golf resorts, having formerly hosted the PGA Tour. The resort has just 128 guest rooms and suites, making it a more boutique experience compared to some of the larger Tucson golf resorts. There are two very different, 18-hole golf courses onsite. The original Catalina Course opened in 1962 with the resort and is more classically parkland in nature. The Sonoran Course is newer, designed by Tom Lehman, and more of a desert-style layout. Guests can dine at casual Legends Bar & Grill or enjoy fine dining at Bob's Steak & Chop House. Off the golf course, guests can enjoy lighted tennis course, spa, 24-hour fitness center and sand volleyball courts.Facts

#16 plays fairly steeply uphill. I was 16 inches for a birdie, after hitting a solid 135 club from 109 out. Photo submitted by Jonathan5270953 on 08/14/2013

Jewel of Tucson
Best course in Tucson in terms of being there in front of you and beautifully conditioned. Played it many times and this might be the best shape I have experienced. Only issue was the driving range and pace of play. Front none was fast but back none got slow. The driving range was set up for us to use the far end and limited to 225 yards. Additionally, it was not fully stocked with balls. There was a Div 1 NCAA tournament which added to the issues in terms of everyone being able to get a spot and warmed up. Very disappointing for the college kids and us visitors. Members had ample space. The 225 yard limitation was frustrating. Of course, there was no information that this was going to be the case when we booked. This should be addressed for a first class venue like this.
challenging round
Excellent turf on greens and fairways. A pleasure to pay no matter golfers skill. Great views and courteous and helpful staff. Can't wait to comeback and play the sister course, Catalina.

Everything was great overall. Played late 2 isn for the deal.
Enjoyed the round, very playable course
Several others recommended the course which I now pass on. Played the Catalina 18. Rather a flat course with a more midwestern feel due to trees than a desert feel. Mostly a what you see is what you play type of layout. My first time on the track it was easy enough to get yardages and figure out the right shots. Greens were very firm, don't count on the approach checking up. (Champions Tour is coming in about 2 weeks which may be a factor.) Don't need driver on every hole. 18 is likely the best (most challenging) hole on the course - a great finishing hole. 4.5 hour round felt pretty much on pace for our unfamiliar foursome.
relaxing outing
course in great shape with great staff.
picturesque
Tee boxes for everyone
A nice fun golfcourse for everyone. might be a little short for the long hitters
Nice golf course
Played the Sonoran and it was in great shape. Pace of play was great, less than 4 hrs. Greens rolled fast and true.
Very Poor Value
I was very disappointed in the Omni Tucson Sonoran course. The layout of many holes is "uninspired" at best -- comparable to an average muni. Flat, no distinguishing features, no interest in the layout, course condition was poor-to-fair at best. Of the six courses I played in the greater Tucson area, this was the worst value by far. I will not play it again.
Best of the best in Tucson
The Catalina course at Tucson National never fails to impress me. I have been playing this course when I visit the area for the past 15-20 years! It's always in great shape, and the staff is always great! Very friendly, and helpful. They make you feel like a member! A great experience! I would recommend this course to anyone!
Tucson National Sonoran
Great course on a beautiful day!
Afternoon round, not very busy so we played at a comfortable pace. Wonderful course in great shape and a decent challenge. Will be going back!
nice course
got a great deal thru golf now with a hot deal buy 1get, 1 free (up to $40) ended up being $47.50 (total) for 2. sonoran was challenging but very enjoyable to play, ALOT of bunkers. 1st time at this course as it is always to costly for me to play.
Men's Room
As an older player, I look for the easy of men's room availability and I rate it poorly. I had to walk a long way to use it and there were no signs or directional signs. Very poor.
Layout
Good course, ladies front tees are friendly and plenty of challenges. Only hole on back nine #16 I believe was huge elevation change to the green that was out of place. Otherwise great experience
Perfect Sunday Afternoon
Reserved a tee time as a single and was paired with a lovely couple from Calgary and another single from England. The weather was superb, the course in good shape, but cart path only made for good exercise and a longer round of playing time at 4 hours plus. Starter was very helpful with good tips for playing the right tees, and club selection for elevated greens. Practice area provided great warm-up. Definitely a must play when you visit Tucson!
Nice cource.
Great layout. For People plays first time Is confusing to find a pat becouse it's mixed with other course(Catalina).
Few more briges could be added instead driving a cart on the send.
Course is in the best shape of any in Tucson
Tree lines fairways make you drive the straight. Some hidden water hazards that local knowledge is very helpful. A must golf course to play in Tucson. I definitely play there again.
Great golf course
An excellent golf course and a beautiful venue. My only complaint was that the greens were a little bumpy after a recent aeration.
greens still a bit bumpy
Other than the bumpy greens which had been plugged recently, the course is in exceptional shape. The fairways and tee boxes were excellent and the greens held beautifully. Plenty of drinking water on the course as well. Summer time rates, however, are not at all a bargain.
Easy to follow course
This is a nice and easy to follow course. KUDOS to the staff especially the guys in charge of course maintenance. From Tee to Green everything was in great shape (Thick but consistent rough). I do recommend this course and will hopefully play it again.
