Older course on the rough side
I have played here multiple times over the years. We played on Super Bowl Sunday. It was crazy jammed packed. Thank god people left early or after 9 holes. Even with people leaving early it still took over 4.30 hours to play. The course had some very rough areas, because of the cold and rain we had earlier in the week. The course was challenging but fair, just a little rougher than usual. A little overpriced, for the condition and way overbooked.
Good Az flat resort course
No surprises at Orange Tree. “ it is what it is”…. Decent shape , normal golf layout with no goofy holes.
My “ only” comment on the negative side is not directed at Orange Tree but all the golf courses that fall into this category. That Category being basic traditional ( non five star elite golf courses ). Watch your PRICE elevations.
I know it is tempting to gouge while the golf boom is on ( supply and demand )… but remember who your “ bread and butter” customer is.
Thats my two cents
Mexican Revolution
The only complaint is rental clubs were dirty, empty beers cans were in the pockets, dirty tissues, paper towels. We asked the attendant to see if had others he said no that’s all he had. He said if we had a complaint to talk to his boss. Director of Golf. This guy told us to clean it ourselves. No customer service at all.
Orange time
A good value for what I paid. Nobody in front of us and nobody behind us
Reasonably priced golf on Scottsdale
We played twilight golf at Orange Tree. The price was much more reasonable than most Scottsdale venues. The course was in great shape. Very wide fairways made for a forgiving course. Pace of play was great- we teed off at 230 and got 18 holes in!
Good course.
This is a nice course. The reviews criticizing course condition are unfair. I found it in good condition. Some of the rough was brown and bare but this is true of other courses too. I didn’t find it detracting. While the course is pretty flat, it is not boring. It is a nice layout. The greens were in good shape and require good ball placement or you can be penalized.
All in all I recommend the course and plan on playing there again.
Very Playable Course
Course conditions were what you would expect for a average groomed municipal course. Sand in bunkers was consistent. Fairways were in average condition, with some spotty areas. Greens were average speed. Finishing hole - 18 is a great par 4 with scenic view down fairway towards mountains in background. Should be the signature hole. Pace of play was great. No GPS on carts. Will play here again when prices go down.
Terrible Day
Walked off 17th hole after 5 hours on the course. Waiting on every shot, every hole. Group behind us hit into us twice. Had a confrontation with them. Greens full of ball marks, most bunkers not raked. Rangers were helpless. For all of this they charged $160. This was a $50 course. Management needs to get their act together. This was a clown show
Wet
Course was cart path only so there was a lot of walking involved. Course was wet but Scottsdale had gotten over an inch of rain the night before so that was expected. Pace of play was good considering it was cart path. I enjoyed the round on nice green grass even if it did have lots of puddles.
Do Not Waste Your $
Just finished and the course is in terrible condition but for the fairways. The greens and tee boxes are in horrible shape. Can you get a flat tee box that doesn’t have divots everywhere and created by a backhoe, No! I mentioned the fairways are good, but the amount a bird s**t you have to avoid is ridiculous. I won’t even discuss how bad the driving range is. The ownership/ management should be ashamed charging over $100 per round. Anything over $40, you’re getting ripped off. Do better OT! Try Starfire just down the road, I haven’t played there in a while, but it has to be better than OT.
