A beautiful and well designed course, with great mountain views.
We had played the course in the fall after over seeding, and recently in late February. February was more difficult as many raised greens had very thin grass on steep slopes and balls wold not hold in the rough. The fast greens compounded this problem; hard to hold balls on the green before they descended the downslopes.
Out of the way gem.
Played course by myself so did not have home field advantage. Found the course had some average holes but more often had many enjoyable challenging holes. Course was in good shape, greens rolled true, although every green was elevated with a back to front slope. Suggest add another 5-7 yards to each approach shot. Paul a grounds worker was very welcoming. Played this course and Wickenburg Country Club---my preference is this course for the following reasons ( friendlier, better conditions, nicer driving range, less blind shots, overall better experience.
Great course
We had a great round. Big fairways and in great shape. Greens were fast but fair. The pro shop gave us a book for the course and it was very helpful . We plan on playing this course again. Nice club house for a meal before or after game.
fun course
Nicer track than Wickenburg CC. Recommend playing when in area.
UP AND DOWN
If you prefer a more traditional course layout, this is not the course. Greens 20+ feet up on hills, miss it by 2 feet and your all the way down at the bottom. I didn't see any windmills or dinosaurs. Greens were 13+ the day I played.
I'm not a scratch player so probably won't be back. Too much work.
This review is no way intended to be negative, just my perspective from a avid golfer with about a 10 handicap. All the staff was great.
excellent course...fast greens with lots of slope
Course not super pristine but very good...greens were very good and probably at 12 with lots of slope...will really test your putting speed...excellent value
Amazing!
The course conditions were exceptional but nothing could outshine the helpful and friendly staff. We were delayed in our arrival. That often creates scheduling issues but the staff managed everything with courtesy and a smile. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy this incredible facility.
Fast greens
I enjoyed the layout of this course. Pretty darn challenging and very scenic. The greens are very fast and undulating. I consider myself a very good putter, but 3 putted 5 greens! I can't wait to go back.
OK
Everyone very friendly, very good pace of play. Greens fast but conditions average.
Expected a bit more for the && since we were there on a ‘hot deal.’
Always a must play when in Arizona
I always play this course when I am in Phoenix. Wickenburg is a short 1 hour drive from Phoenix. This course has a fun layout. Elevation changes make this a great course to play. The staff is friendly and very welcoming. I dream of this course when I am back home. You will enjoy your day here.
A favorite
With many courses to play within ten miles from home, I always jump at the chance to play Los Caballeros, 35 miles away. Quick, challenging greens, beautiful scenery, elevation changes, friendly staff, and the cool town of Wickenburg.
Fast greens
From the arrival to the finish, staff was excellent and the course and layout were awesome.
Nice Track
First played the course in 2017 and recall really enjoying the round. Nice scenery, good course conditions, friendly staff and overall enjoyable place to play. Not disappointed again in 2018. Pro shop said the greens were running 13.5. Very fair course. If you have not played the course previously, you should drive up before hitting your second shot on #13 to see what lays ahead. Challenging hole.
Excellent Hot Deal
1st time playing here. Very challenging course for a duffer like me, especially the back nine. Lucked out getting an 10am tee time. Course was not that busy then so we easily finished in 4 hours. Gorgeous setting. Greens were very fast, difficult and a bit pock-marked. Fairways were moist and short cut. The course is not well marked from hole to hole so we actually got lost twice since we had never played here before.
Spectacular
I had put off playing this course because of the driving distance to get to it. Don't let that deter you. Go to it, play it and enjoy it! A very special course. The biggest distraction all day was when a herd (remuda) of horses was being moved through the wash right next to the hole we were on. The course is challenging but fair. Middle handicappers can score well here. It's not a typical desert, target course. Lush green fairways and plenty of rough to work with. There is trouble here and a poorly placed shot will put you in a one-stroke jail. There is a large difference in yardage between the playable tees for middle handicappers though, some 600+ yards. So check out the scorecard before you decide what set of tees to play. I thought the silvers actually played shorter than the 6500 yards on the card.
Fun course
Greens were FAST! 3 putting is a possibility on every green. But course was fun. Nice layout. Had a real "homey" feel to it. Its not slick and fancy like Quinterro or the Boulders, but a nice comfortable old school course. I enjoyed playing it.
Execellent
The course conditions were fabulous. The greens were lightning speed around a twelve and very consistent. We played as a twosome and let another twosome play through. The weather was in the mid seventies. It wasn't cart path only which is what I've been doing a lot lately. The worst thing that happened was people walking on the cart path to the right of number 10. I overcorrected and pulled my drive left of the fairway. It was a great day at my favorite course. Too bad it's an hour drive to get there.
