Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. Scenic setting
Course is in great condition considering it is under severe heat stress.
My only issue with the Canyon course is that it is spread out over long travel times between tee boxes.
Extremely well maintained -
Greens were in summer maintenance - sandy but fair.
Fairways were excellent.
Overall conditions, despite the heat, very good.
Beautiful Mountain views
Beautiful facility and views. Well worth visiting.
Great course
Great rate and super friendly staff. Course was in great shape and very challenging.
great course
tees, fairways and greens are all "A"; layout fun fair and challenging
Aeration Alert - poor check-in process.
Greens and Fairways have been cut way low and aerated. You would be much better off to wait several weeks for conditions to improve. 3 and 4 putts were very common in our foursome. Check-in was confusing. They closed the normal pro shop for the summer and you are required to check-in at the "members" pro shop at the Lodge. Staff was NOT welcoming at this member pro shop (guess because we are not "members"). We don't need to pay as much as we did for this kind of treatment.
Excellent with caveats
Just played the Mountain Course. REALLY looked forward to playing it, knowing some of the holes are well-known. Played the Canyon course several times, and liked it. But I was hoping the Mountain course was way above it. The fairways were dry and were cut in long strips(aerating?)and the greens were very dry and fast.. Loved the 13th hole and parred it, and birdied the 14th. Will play again.. Oh yeah.. the POOL area of the resort was BLASTING music, which was very distracting to me.. I like golf to be "quiet" for the most part..
Mountain
Well-maintained course with actual rough ... large, inviting but FIRM greens make it difficult to stop approach shots for an amateur player...amenities are TOP-NOTCH ... a lot of distance between holes makes it difficult to get into any rhythm of play
Challenging layout but fun and fair
Course was in excellent shape. This was our first time playing here and the staff from Pro shop check in, cart pick up, starter, snack shop, cart return were polite, friendly and made us feel as though we were members at a private club. Would highly recommend to anyone who has not played here before. Will definitely put in our rotation when we visit Tucson again .
Not what expected!
Had great hope for this course, but when we got there our expectations went in the tank. The unfriendliness of the staff was our first clue--we did not get a smile from any staff member we had contact with. The greens were sanded which was a surprise to us since no one ever mentioned it. When done, we had to climb back to the car from where we turned in the golf carts--one would think they would have a shuttle system. All in all, we would NOT go back to this course. There are many other courses we played that are a better value than Ventana Canyon.
nice course
wow what a track - great 39 dollar price--will be back
Good value for the dollar in May.
Great place to play, good value for the money and a great challenge for all levels. I would definitely play here again next time I am in town.
Nice round of golf
Course was in excellent shape Weather and view were great. We moved forward to the silver tees where the slope still was 129 and we had a blast.
beautiful
The mountian course is one of my favorites in the Tucson area, always in great shape, fantastic views, greens are fast and in great shape and the staff is gelpful and friendly.
Mountain Course is an all time favorite!
We always play the Mountain Course when in Tucson, the combination of course layout and amazing views from almost every hole make it fun no matter how you play. Make sure you choose the right club on number 3!
Tough course but lots of fun
Played the Canyon Course and great conditions. 13 on the stimpmeter we were told in the Pro Shop and that was about right. Only complaint is that there is lots of travel between holes which make for a long round of golf. Outside of that all good things can be said about this course.
You must play it
This was, without a doubt, the best course I have played in Tucson. Interestingly, even the starter couldn't believe the price we got from Golf Now.
Great condition
Still a beautiful golf course in great condition with lightning fast greens. Was a beautiful day which highlighted spectacular views.
A must play in Tucson
Played the Canyon course with three strangers on a Sunday morning. The course is in a spectacular setting and it was in wonderful condition, as good as any I have played in Tucson, and it wasn’t crowded. We saw no one in front of us and finished in just over four hours. It would have been faster with faster company. As many have pointed out, the greens are huge, smoking fast, and they don’t hold. Unlike some other high end courses in Tucson, the Canyon is really not a target golf course and there are few forced carries. If you choose your tees to match your game you’ll have a good round, except perhaps for the putting.
Great course
Loved this course except firmness of greens. Could not get ball to stop. Great layout and views
