About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. Enjoyable Challange
The weather was perfect; GolfNow offered a great rate; the course was superb; I just wish my game was as beautiful as this course.
If you like elevation challenges....
Mountain Course played at 6,338 yards (139 rating). Wide fairways, narrow necks, well-guarded and impossible-to-read and slippery greens. Carved out of foothills below steep mountain peaks: the mountain greatly affects the roll of putts. I didn't feel comfortable with any putt over 3 ft -- and missed them all. At first I thought the 139 rating was too high, but in retrospect, the length, guarded greens and impossibly-fast greens probably is accurate. If you want a beautiful and challenging course, play this one.
Very nice resort course
This course was in excellent condition. Fairways are cut higher than most desert courses in Tucson giving it more of an "up north" flavor. Very fast, challenging greens. Generous fairways compared with many "target golf" desert courses. Gorgeous scenery of course. Very much enjoyed it
Best greens ever
The putting is pure. Ball rolls like a pool table. Greens runnng 12. Course conditions are immaculate.
course was on fantastic shape but..
The staff here was super friendly and knowledgeable and the course was in absolutely fantastic shape but the greens were just stupid fast. They were like putting on a pool table and getting approach shots to stick was next to impossible. I am sure your average scratch player would have no problem but us mid handicappers just found it frustrating, and the hole locations were very unforgiving. That being said, if you like that sort of putting surface then the course was flawless. Just not for my game.
Great course, slow round
Loved the course but waiting on every shot, you loose contraction!!
Ventana Canyon, Canyon Course
Always a pleasure to play either Ventana course, Mountain or Canyon. Played Canyon yesterday, one of my favorite courses (and I have been playing golf for about 50 years or so!). Fazio track (as is the Mountain), with nice variety, winding thru Catalina foothills. For those who have not played this course, this is not desert target golf, although it is plenty challenging. If you are playing Canyon for the first time, be prepared for long cart trips between some holes - this course cannot be walked. Don't let that deter you as the course and the views are a great experience.
Real gem
Incredible vistas, great Fazio course in wonderful condition and terrific price.
Still a beautifully designed course
The Mountain course requires every shot and no two holes are the same. It was just overseeded and wet, so it played long. The greens are perfect. It was also a great value through Golf Now. The only downside is that, as a resort course, it gets players who are not capable of playing it slowing things down for everyone.
La Ventana Mountain Course enchantment
Hey, it doesn't matter if you sunk the putt because the Catalina Mountain backdrop soothes the competitive spirit in this scenic golf course. I highly recommend it to anyone.
Amazing course
This has to be my new favorite course in the tucson area. Great scenery and a great course.
very picturesque
Rolling greens made putting challenging. Front greens were fast, back not so much.
good day
Our group of 4 enjoyed our time although, very hot, no players assistant out. So no towels and no one told us to use the key off cart to get into washrooms. That might be local knowledge , we were from out of country, figured it out for the next day on another course!!! Mile to drive on a cart just to get to hole #1 .No cart out and temp was 102||||| We golfed 6 out of 10 days on a holiday ,although nice course but with thick rough, not high on the list of the six courses we played at this time of year.
Great facility
It was such a nice place that we did a replay. I will always include this in my playlist when I visit Tucson.
The course was better off the backs
Second time I played the canyon , this time I played the black tees , played from the gold two days ago ,as the wind was gusting and not played the canyon before . The blacks were about 300 yards further back but the blacks tee needed more range of shots . The course is in great shape , fairways great , greens great very fast away from the mountain , slow towards so to score putting the ball below the pin is a must !! . Next time Iam in Tucson will play this and the Mountain course again .
beautiful surroundings
This course has a challenging layout, but is in some very scenic surroundings. We had a fun time!
Great experience
Terrific experience. Beautiful views. Bring a camera!
Beautiful layout
Again, this is one of the top courses in the Tucson area. I would play it on a regular basis, if I could afford it. GofNow made that possible during the summer. I'll play it again when it becomes affordable again.
Thanks GolfNow.
Very good course
This is the first time I played this course and it did not disappoint. The course was in great shape the greens were quick but fair. Great views from the mountains on several of the holes. I would definitely recommend playing this course.
Greens and fairways
I played the Mountain course and was most impressed with the course playing conditions. The fairways were magnificent and the greens excellent. Very enjoyable round.
