Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. The Maze
The course was in average condition but the greens were in great condition. Our main problem was going from hole to hole. It was like a maze and we acturally played one hole over again because of the set up and the lack of signs. They really need to install GPS for people wh have nt played this course. We had played the Mountain course there the day before and it was at least a star better in all areas. If we played again we would play the Mountain rather than the Canyon.
Nice Desert Course
The front nine is the place to score, as it is fairly open. The back nine tightens the fairways up, making controlled shots a must. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Would play it again.
Great shape right now.
Mountain course is in stellar shape all around. Tee boxes coming back from being punched but otherwise perfect conditions.
Gorgeous, challenging course
The $49 Golf Now green fee brought Ventana Canyon back to my budget and it was a pleasure to play a course this nice. The greens were firm, very fast, probably 11+ on the stimp which made them difficult to hold but very smooth to putt.
From the moment you arrive you know you are at a first class facility. The staff and amenities were great though the lack of a GPS in their carts was a surprise. I'd played here once before several years ago so was somewhat familiar with the course. Local knowledge helps a lot as there are a lot of blind shots and the greens are rarely flat which is difficult to see from the fairways.
Being June in Tucson the weather could have been a problem but got lucky and had a nice cool day (in the 80's), and managed 18 in just 3.5 hours with only a little bit of waiting on the last few holes. I'll be back.
nice resort course
I first played here 25 years ago and it has held up very well. Great views, nice layout although signage was a little lacking. Beautiful facilities. I highly recommend playing here.
Will play again
Vantana Canyon Mountain course is one of the best courses that I have played in Tucson so far. The atmosphere was wonderful and the fairway and greens were perfect. Looking forward to playing the Mountain course and the Canyon course as well!
Beautiful Scenery
I would recommend the Canyon course and would love to play it again. The condition of the course is just short of perfect, if that is possible?
My only issue is that the Staff in the pro shop were a little stuffy and I felt like I needed to hit the lotto just to play there. The day that we played we had no beverage cart and really could have used one, but overall it was a good experience. The scenery was unbelievable be sure to bring a camera!!!
Great Course
This was a great golf experience. The greens were in spectacular condition.
The greens were immaculate
Have wanted to play this course for a very long time. It did not disappoint me and the greens were in PGA condition. Loved the experience.
Outstanding! Definitely play it!!
Beautiful layout, conditioning, and fairness. My wife and I loved it!
Add it to your bucket list!
Best course ever played
these courses are the two best courses I've played in Az. You could not ask of anything better. Perfect from tee to green...conditions were immaculate..the Mt course has better views and scenery, the canyon course is a little easier to score on....Russ the starter is one of the nicest, most knowledgable starter I ever met...the only bummer was the $8.00 hot dog...come on man!!! Really, $8 for a hot dog
One word: Awesome!!
This is a great course! We got lost going to the first tee of the Mountain Course. It wasn't the easiest to find, but, finally, with help, we found it and enjoyed the day!!
Tough course in great shape.
A country club type reception followed by a challenging round on a course in great condition. Really fun holes and even tough I didn't score as low as I would have preferred, it was a great day on the links.
awsome
this is great golf from tee to green this one is hard to beat a must play
sloppy customer service
We arrived at the course and checked in without a problem but when we talked to the starter he informed us we were not on his sheet. Turns out we were double booked and they offered to have us play as a two-some surrounded by foursomes.
Then when we inquired about how this happened, we were told by Kevin at the pro shop that this "happens all the time". So, through no fault of our own we were basically forced to take a raincheck or get a refund. problem is, if you drove down from Phoenix, I don't think this would make you too happy. The staff at the pro shop was very willing to take our money but quite reluctant to accommodate us in a fair fashion.
The customer service needs a lot of work, in my opinion. The root of this issue seems to stem from the pro shop staff not notifying golfnow that our tee time was already taken by someone else, a problem entirely of their making so they really should have bent over backwards to rectify the situtation. Instead, we were given curt answers to our questions as if we were inconveniencing them.
The course looked great but we decided to get rain checks as this whole experience left a sour taste in our mouths. I don't think I'll play this course for a while as a result, which is a shame because the course itself is fantastic.
Excellent condition
great condition, greens were the best I've seen or putted in Tucson area...
Canyon course
A beautiful course . A lot of driving in cart from where picked up cart and in between holes. first time players easy to get confused as to which way to go sometimes. The course was in excellent shape but where stuck behind a shotgun tournament so the round was quite slow. Staff was very friendly. Would recommend this course just hopefully you don't get stuck behind tournament. Great if you can get deal on golf now. I don't think it is worth the full price. If you can get a deal I would say a must play course. Many scenic holes and would like to come back and p[lay the mountain course one day. Watch out on 18's approach shot . Can't be short, long , left or right. I was long
Beautiful foothills golf course
Played Mountain course. Loved it. Fair test of golf for both men and women. Views are incredible. Highly recommended.
Slow play
Only reason why I marked down the overall rating was of the slow pace of play(over 5hours). The course was in pristine condition.
Excellent course in Tucson!
I thought the course was very fun and challenging. The fairways were in great shape and the greens were hard and fast. The pace of place was a little slower than I liked, but it gave me time to enjoy the beautiful scenery. This is a must play when in the Tucson area!
