About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. Great track
The 2 courses at Ventana are both outstanding. Our recent experience was great. Paired with a few of the course rangers was a treat. Although the overall layout of the two courses and facilities are not the best, the experience is excellent.
Beautiful course! Great choice
Beautiful layout with changing elevations as you work your way up and down the canyon. Quite playable but all the challenge you could want if you choose the right tees for your game. Greens are fair but quick. Service is friendly but not as outgoing and helpful as typical at club of this quality. We finished our round and returned our cart but attendant told us we needed to carry our clubs up the stairs and around the clubhouse to our car as he couldn’t leave. No problem except he didn’t mention there were two clubhouses and the one we started at was a mile and a half down the road.
Awesome course - Terrible administration
Played here 3 times in 3 days. Mountain course twice canyon once. Both are excellent courses with fun challenging layouts. Mountain course is significantly more difficult - green complexes on both courses are in excellent shape.
The bad - desk check in staff was less than helpful and fairly rude. Communication was awful.
The worse - if you play here in the winter you will not start before 9am regardless of your tee time or weather. All 3days we played the low temp never reached below 41degrees and two days it was low of 50 degrees yet there was a “frost delay” everyday and first tee times were sent out in shotgun. No warning just get up everyday and find bogus delays.
The inexcusable - during frost delay the driving range is not setup or open. Huh? 50 degrees sunny and can’t hit balls while waiting for bogus frost delay. Frustrating
great course but clumsy check in for guests
Awesome course but ,non members must park in the resort hotel lot, far away from the facility and where to go to check in is not easily found.....
Beautiful setting great course
Played in a foursome, condition perfect. Fast greens a little
Tricky to read but immaculate condition. Nice practice range and putting greens. Pave of play a little slow but very tolerable.
Great resort course
Have played this course many times and have never seen it in as good a condition as it is now. The fairways and greens are perfect.
Best golf ever
Fantastic course. Challenging, but fair. The greens are top rated: fast and true and the course layout is breathtakingly beautiful. On several holes we had to stop and take pictures. What a pleasure.
Excellent play
Great course, very challenging with great views. Troublesome for the novice
Ventana canyon
Great course, excellent condition. Quick greens but perfect. Very enjoyable day
Perfect Greens
The greens on this corse were the Best I have ever played! Course condition was pristine. Very fair and playabe. Only negative is the drive between some of the holes, but a small price to pay to play this absolute stunner of a course. The waterfall behind the 18th green is spetacular!
Ventana - Canyon Course
I have played here many times - it has always been in terrific condition, and is a good challenge w/ tricky greens, without being so difficult that it is unenjoyable. Always a pleasure to play here. If you have never played here, treat yourself. Play with someone who knows the course, or get a map, because there is a lot of cart driving over long distances.
Great Course
Excellent course condition. One of the best I’ve played.
Nice scenic course
Everything was perfect condition
Lay out spectacular
Only thing the hole indicator
Hard to find on some hole
Like 16 th hole
Mountain Course
Great course. Everyone except the guys in the Proshop were super friendly , they were all business, pretty cut and dried. They should take a hands on course with the door guy, cart dudes and starter. Planning on coming back!
Ventana Canyon
It was my first time playing this course and getting started was a little confusing. Practice facility was nice and the course was in great shape. The grounds crew was very courteous when you were getting ready to hit and the entire staff was very pleasant to work with. Great value on a great day!
Challenging layout
Great scenic layout. Greens immaculate and difficult to read
Canyon course after overseeding
Apparently there are 2 pro shops. Just dumb luck that the guard let me through the gate. From there everything was signed. There was a drop off for my clubs, parking near the front entrance, walked in through the grill restaurant and the members’ pro shop was there.
Hot deal green fee of $76. Greens were super fast. Fairways were lush. Cart path only. Long drives between some of the holes—best to take a map which they have there. Definitely a treat to play.
