Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
About Resorts at Ventana Canyon: Loews and The Lodge
Tucson's Ventana Canyon development is home to a residential community and membership, 36 holes of Tom Fazio-designed golf, and two, four-star lodging properties, the Loews Ventana Canyon and The Lodge at Ventana Canyon. The Loews Ventana Canyon is the larger of the two with 398 guest rooms and suites, multiple dining areas and pools, including an adults-only pool. It also has four lighted tennis courts and a spa to go along with multiple dining concepts from fine to bar and casual. The Lodge at Ventana Canyon is smaller with just 50 suites that feature kitchenettes and oversized living areas. The Lodge has its own dining room for casual fare, the Catalina Dining Room, as well as its own pool and spa. challenging hole Photo submitted by spectre1972 on 10/04/2012
This course has slipped.
I have played this course many times in the past. It has slipped in quality in my opinion. The staff is less friendly. There is NO GPS and NO course book for guidance. AND, the bar (19th hole) was closed on a Saturday afternoon!?! For the same money, there are much better courses around Tucson to play. It's a bummer, I liked this course. This course will be a backup option in the future for my friends and I, rather than a course we always play.
A great golfing experience.
The views from this coourse are stunning and the course is in excellent condition. Staff was very friendly and efficient.
Awesome condition and greens second to none.
The course is in spectacular condition and the greens were speedy and true. They had 3 inch rough off the fairways that added another dimension to the game. Get in there before they raise the prices. Pace of play was a little slow as nearly everyone was taking pictures because it was so nice!
Great course in great shape
Never disappoints. Great course in great condition right now
wonderful condition
we are from colorado and come to arizona once a year;
always come to play at Ventana Canyon Mountain Course. It is wonderful. Cant recommend it highly enough. Carolyn and Joe Borus Denver
Beautiful course
Course was in immaculate condition. Greens were difficult to read but were in great shape.
Very up market
This is top resort golf, plush delightful .
This as expected was a little more cash but you get the value.
Lots of helpers , great range, beautiful club house with lots of shade for a desert.
#3 is a Fazio gem, Spectacular construction . Its a real knee knocker. We had a great day of Fun , a definite returner .
it was a really nice course and we have had a good time playing it
I love playing this course and i will definately go back.
Very nice layout
Although it was that time of year (overseeding), and that it took us 4h¾ to play because of cart path only, we really enjoyed the course as it was very challenging. The greens were in great shape and fast. They dazzled us all day as we couldn't figure out the breaks and speed because of the mountain....
could be better1
unfortunately we were stuck in a shotgun start, which we were not told about when we booked. The round started at 1:20 not 1:00 therefore with the crowded course and late start we could not finish 18 holes. not good value!!
Excellent course for tourists in AZ
Great course, moderate difficulty, fair and interesting. Cart path only, but it's typical for AZ. Excellent practice facility, especially short game area with great bunkers to practice. You'll have to negotiate your way on the course around a bunch of localc retirees in their mid-70's, but you can still play the course in fair amount of time. The only draw-back are the greens, they are a little too slow for CA standards, but this is the reality of the local grass, I believe.
Mountain course is great, Excellent condition
The course is in great shape and provides challenges to all golfers. Super staff and facilities.
pace of play was a problem
Beautiful course but play was much too slow. No evidence of any marshalling to help resolve slow play issues.
Fantastic
Great golf course and fantastic views. There is a Par 3 on the mountain course that is incredible. The views and surrondings are something to behold. The course was is great shape, greens a little slow due to overseeding but was a pleasure to play. The canyon course is closed so play is slower than normal.
Great Experience
Course is challenging and kept up as country club maintenance.
It had recently been overseeded so the greens were not good. Hadn't been mowed so everything was pretty slow to putt.
But I'd return because I enjoyed it so much.
Extremely beautiful
A very beautiful course to play very challenging staff and players are very friendly
One of Our Favorites
The course is always challenging and fun to play. Staff is very accommodating.
One slight problem was that only one course was available due to overseeding. Did not realize that members were going off on the back side while others went off the front, thus creating a problem and a wait at the crossover.
Ventana Mountain. Course
Played course on a Thursday morning, course had just come out of overseed recently, but conditions were plush and green, the greens rolled fast and true, held shots. Beautiful views of the mountains and downtown Tucson. Even with cart path only, finished round in less than 4 hours. I will be back to play it.
Just opened after over seeding....great
The course was in excellent condition. The staff was friendly as I was the first one out on the course. Have a golf snack shack at the turn was very convenient. I was partnered with some members....which was somewhat challenging and eventful
Best views in Tucson
Due to October reseeding cart path only was in play; the good news is there was plenty of great views to admire and we were done in less than 4 hours. This is the closest experience a Tucson golfer will have to enjoying an ambiance found in places like Pebble Beach and Augusta.
