Can't miss golf!
You can not go to sScottsdale without playing the Boulders!! Great cause. Staff outside clubhouse not particularly friendly, but starter and pro shop personnel were great!
My Boulders experience
The outside service folks seem to run the Place & DEFINATELY do a FINE job ! "Biman"-the lead(?)was accommodating in that My Golf Pal ran TARDY ! He assured no worries & made it feel that way to be sure and made the "smooth move" of gettin' Us out on the back side to enjoy our pace- We play expediently anyway.
The conditions were up to the reputation of this destination layout, the winding through the substantial elevation changes adds plenty of challenge to the round. DEFINATELY enjoyed the trip up there & look forward to returning for the other "postcard" course, THANKS !
Beautiful views
Course is second to none in terms of views and surrounding beauty. I'm sure course conditions are better in winter or spring but I wasn't expecting brown areas on fairways. Greens still not quite healed from being airated. Layout was good but one hole has tree in middle of fairway 20 yards from green. Quircky in my book. Worth the hour plus drive to play.
Extremely nice course and great overall experience
The Boulders is one of the best golf courses in Arizona and one of the best courses I've ever played. Even though the greens had been recently aerated and were still quite bumpy and sandy, the course overall was in excellent condition. The scenery is amazing, and the variety of hole layouts is extremely interesting. It is not necessarily a course for beginners, but I would suggest this course to anyone who loves golf and craves a unique golf experience.
Perfect day Great Course and Customer Service
I really enjoyed playing this course again some dry spots on course and greens were aerified 7-10 days ago however healing nicely. Perfect weather great customer service beautiful oustide bar after round. I recommend any chance you can get on this when you can. It can be tight be forwarned so play the right tees.
Greens had been punched, no one mentioned this when I called!
Greens are in awful shape now
The boulders is an extremely beautiful course. It is a two course track . Under most circumstances, I encourage golfers to just go do it, regardless of the price. HOWEVER, at this time, all of the greens are punched/aerated. So the putts wobble. Sand flares up when the ball lands on the greens and to limit frustration, our foursome adopted the two putts max rule. It was quite frustrating. Otherwise the course and the staff are great. My best advice: call before you go.
Great, but...
The golf course was in great condition and a nice layout and the weather was perfect, 94 degrees. The overall course layout isn't that difficult, but there are some holes that play tricky depending on the tees you play, like 5 with the trench stretching across the fairway close to your landing area.
The only complaint I have, and it's important, is the tee box on 17.
I play from the back tees, and from the Black tee box on 17 the fairway was half obscured by a large bush that was literally 10 yards in front of the tee box, not to mention there is a home 6-feet to the right of the tee box.
I have a hard time fading or slicing the ball, which this shot required. I usually either hit the ball straight or with a slight draw.
The management needs to pay more attention to all the tee boxes, even the black tees for the few of us who still play them. I was barely able to snake my drive past it and keep it in the fairway. I was lucky enough to par the hole, but it shouldn't be this hard just to get off the tee.
If you only hook the ball, you would have absolutely no shot on the 17th black tee.
But otherwise, the course was a nice layout and in good condition.
Beautiful course!
One of the most picturesque courses in the Phoenix area!! The course was well manicured and greens rolled true.
I would play it everyday if I could!
Beautiful desert layout
The course was in great shape. Stay on the fairway-or, bring a lot of balls. The scenery surrounding the course was at times, breathtaking! A little expensive to play but don't miss it if you're out that way.
South Course is beautiful & very challenging!
The South course at The Boulder's Club in Carefree, AZ is as beautiful a desert course as you will EVER play. The desert around and running through this course has been left in it's wild natural state (like the North course here) and it is gorgeous. Unless you are an accurate player with confidence to just "hit it" you will find this desert more than once and good luck playing out of it. The course is visually intimidating off the tee on most of the holes. It is a little wider than it looks, but shots along the edges WILL roll into the desert. Great greens!
NOT a course for beginners or sprayers of the golf ball! I think it plays tougher than it's slope rating, especially for the bogey golfer.
Excellent Conditions/Greens
Classic target golf in AZ. Overall conditions were excellent. Greens were rolling at 11 which were quicker than most we played during AZ golf weekend of early May 2017. Treated well. Could definitely tell it is a members facility that alternates the course that is open to high green fee public play. Nice layout. plenty of room for error but again...target golf with a lot of carries over desert. Fun par threes. Excellent boulder views! Would play again...but not at $150-250.
Efficiency vs Friendliness
Appears that the focus with the staff is on efficiency not friendliness. Cart person was definitely not having a good day. Pro shop person was probably the one I would single out as efficient AND friendly. Year-round resident golfers appreciate friendliness. Remember that this summer!
