Style Desert

Length 6917 yards
Slope 142
Rating 72.9

The Boulders Golf Club & Resort complex features two outstanding 18-hole courses. Both courses are very well maintained, and the scenery is incredible. Boulder's South Course is exactly the type of desert course people come to the Phoenix-Scottsdale resort corridor to play. A round of golf on the South kicks off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 421 yards from the blue tees, which is quickly followed by a short par 3, measuring 150 yards from the blue tees. Things get long on the fifth hole, a 545-yard par 5, which is just a warm-up for the 11th hole, a par 5 that measures 601 yards from the blue tees. It doesn't get much easier to finish: The 18th is a par 5 that measures 513 yards from the blue tees.

Solid round for the $$, but could be better.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — South Course at Boulders Golf Club

Really enjoyed my round on the South Course. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful from the moment I arrived, which set the tone for a great day. The layout itself is fun and scenic, and as a 9‑handicap playing from the white tees, the course felt like the perfect balance — challenging without being punishing, especially for someone who isn’t a long hitter.

Course conditions were mostly strong. Tees and fairways were in excellent shape, and the routing kept things interesting throughout. The greens were the one disappointment: a bit bumpy and not rolling very true. A few bunkers could also use more sand — I even caught some exposed landscape fabric in one of them.

The wildlife and photo ops are a big highlight here. The first hole is probably the best of the “signature” holes, and I kept waiting for another one later in the round to match it, but nothing quite did. Still, it was a solid overall experience and good value for the money.

Wrapped up with lunch at the grill, and Vanessa was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and a great way to end the day.

Beware - Course Needs Maintenance

Rough greens and tee's - fairways were in good condition. Greens were horrible. Not well mowed and very rough surface. Tee's were full of divots and not well cared for. Not worth the price they are asking. I've played this course several times in the past and this was the worst condition I've seen it in. Play somewhere else.

The best desert experience (so far)

The name got my attention and the pictures did not do it justice. A course to test your skills and your intuition. A mind bender with so many shots.

Very Disappointed

Boulders is such and can be a beautiful course. The layout, holes with views are fantastic. Super disappointed with greens and bunkers. The greens had no grass... literally. Putting on cracked and dried something. The bunkers felt like concrete 1" down? Tees and fairways were good. Sorry Boulders... not coming back here soon!

Full green rates with subpar conditions

The course is tough but the views are fantastic. Unfortunately we were not warned about the conditions of the greens and that was a disappointment. We paid regular season green fees for overseeding/burnt greens and that’s not what you would expect from a higher end course. Definitely prefer the transparency and fee adjustment provided by Dinosaur, Quintero & TPC Scottsdale.

We were really looking forward to our round and it did not live up to the hype.

Greens poor

Worst greens in the valley. Big mistake changing them from bent grass. Concrete hard, dry and very bumpy.

Cool layout, bad greens

The Boulders (South) is a neat desert layout. Fun tee shots and Interesting hole designs make you take less than driver a lot off the tee. My complaints are that the greens and bunkers are worse than any local muni in the valley. The bunkers were compact and unraked. The greens were being eaten by a fungus and pretty fuzzy & bumpy too. This was lackluster considering the time of year, weather, price, and other courses in the area. Staff was great.

Greens in bad shape

We’ve played this course many times but have never seen greens as bad as this. The ball doesn’t roll, and if it does, it usually bounces sideways as it hits clumps of Poa. The rest of the course is in good nick, but don’t expect to be able to putt these greens for a while.

Greens were fast with a lot of small pebbles

Breakfast burrito and sandwich was very bland. 18% gratuity is built into drink orders. Make sure you bring water and your glass on the start where the bottled water cost $10

First Time @ Boulders

The course is really phenomenal. The scenery is truly breathtaking. The layout is also great.

However, the greens are quite poor, especially at this price point and do not match the level of quality of the rest of the course. Greens are bumpy and weedy.

Really want to play the course again soon, but the poor greens quality gives me reservations.

Boukders

The course is spectacular from a scenery and layout standpoint. Trully breathtaking. However, the South course greens conditions do not match the rest of the course. They are extremely bumpy, inconsistent and weedy. Not sure what grass this is, but extremely poor. Could not gauge speed but more importantly rolls were nowhere near pure. I would consider going back in a heartbeat to play again, but the greens would make me seriously consider choosing another option.
