Boulders in AZ
Spectacular desert views and plant life, course was in excellent shape. The greens were perfect. Will play again for sure.
Top notch course
I played the North course. It was prestine with plush fairways and receptive greens. Thoroughly enjoyed playing this course.
I wanted to play this course because it was a Jay Morrish design and he designed my home course. I enjoyed the layout of the course, however around the 1 and 10 teeing area there is too much traffic, the course was extremely busy all throughout the round with random people walking across the course and workers all over. Then a 1oz(single) drink was $12. I thought i was at a New York night club.
Awesome views and fun course
Really enjoyed the course and the dramatic Boulders throughout the course.
Up dates required
Nice track but a few things would have made round better
GPS in carts would have been nice at that price point instead of reading a card that my reading glasses could barley pick up.
Carts are old and tired.
Tee areas are marked poorly in places our foursome drove by a couple and had to turn around and we noticed other foursomes doing the same.
I just find it frustrating that there is no sand in bunkers not enough to get the club under the ball and at that price point , I expect it.
Not the Real Boulders
Enjoyed the course. The North course is somewhat expensive for what you get. The scenery is not even close to the south course. Disappointed because my guest had never played here and thought he was going to see the large rock formations. Just make sure you play the south if you want the Boulders experience. North is a very nice course
North course inexcellent condition - great layout - challenging 3,4,and 5's
Wonderful views, incredible course
I've played 7 or 8 of the Golf Top 100 You Can Play, Boulders South is on that list and very deservedly so. The views all around the course were wonderful and the course itself was incredible. The layout is challenging but playable - landing areas are big enough to swing away on most driving holes, although many times a targeted shot is best. Greens were quick but not overly so. Sand is very consistent which makes it easier to develop a tactic when hitting out. Course conditions were green and lush - top rate in every way. The staff was friendly and was obviously hustling to keep things moving. One of the best in PHX!
Boulders South is Scenic
We played the south course and arrived in the middle of the afternoon during the week to find a very busy place since there are 2 golf courses there. They were well organized and got us out in a timely fashion after we used the range. The greens rolled real nice even though they were treated. The only problem we ran into was the fact that the foursome in front of our twosome would not let us play through even though they we were on the same par three where they were teeing off. The ranger wouldn't let us play through either and a big gap opened and we finished in the dark. Other than that it was all of what we expected and its worth the golf now rate.
Boulders North Course
Glad that I played the North Course after reserving it through GolfNow and not paying the rack rate. GolfNow even saved me over the rate they quoted me for staying there. The North Course is not worth the rack rate. There are so many other courses in that area that are less expensive and are a better track. I hear that the South Course is better, but more expensive.
Lush, lavish, and long in the wallet
I am a blue collar golfer with a 10 handicap. The Boulders North course is beautiful, scenic, and exquisitely maintained. The greens were sanded, but done so professionally that speed, read and break were
not affected. Fine true sand in the traps. The shorter par fours were laid out to provide challenges and opportunities. Unlike my Monday round at Troon North Pinnacle, Boulders North did not lock your driver in the trunk of your car. The landing areas were narrow, but not club restrictive. I used every club in my bag on my round. The price was a bit much. I would really play this course regularly for $75 less. My rationale for this always goes back to Torrey Pines in SD that costs $229. Torrey Pines is luscious, picturesque, and nationally renown. I will pay $225 for THAT type of mystique. Boulders North has that type of beauty and ambiance, but not that type mystique.
Great condition and layour
Loved the south course. Has the signature hole with massive boulders surrounding back of green. Every hole seems unique. Great scenery, and fairways/greens in really good shape. $150 on golfnow was really good value
Nice Day
Course was well maintain, but that is expected at this price point. Was not as scenic as i expected. Fairly straight forward with minimal challenges. If you are fairly straight off the tee, i would recommend playing back tees. Greens were in great shape but somewhat on the slow side. Would recommend playing for the experience. Next time I will try the South Course. I am told it is more scenic.
Too expensive for my blood
Golf now. Made playing once worth it until I win lottery. However views on south course are spectacular. Rough is softest grass I have ever seen. Greens are true, fast, and fair. I had fewest putts in a long time. If you want to play one of the best go for it
Boulders Doesn't ROCK!
After much internet research, I booked Boulders for a golf trip weekend with some friends. Our expectations were high due to GN ratings and the fact we've all heard of the Boulders. We're all seasoned golf travelers having played venues like Pebble, Cypress Point, Spyglass, Pasatiempo, Olympic Club, Bandon Dunes, and Whistling Straits to name a few of our favorites.
Unfortunately, the Boulders fell far short of expectations. The pro shop and golf course attendants were all friendly and helpful but our day started our with a poor experience at their grill. The food was marginal and service was far below the standard you'd expect st a nice resort. 90 dollars for a mediocre breakfast for 3? Don't eat there!
We found the layout of the course as uninspiring as our breakfast. Perhaps the South Course is the better of the 2, but we found the North to be nondescript and boring. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were very average. Other than the approach to 18, it was a very nonmemorable round...and where were the "Boulders"? Ventana Canyon in Tucson is about far more interesting and scenic desert course.
We'll be playing elsewhere next time in Scottsdale!
