Well Maintained course
Played the Mesquite and Acacia courses today. Mesquite was nice and greens were soft and fast. Acacia greens were recently aerated and were quite slow and sandy. They also didn't roll very well. Both courses had very well maintained tee boxes and fairways. I felt bad that they didn't give us sand on the cart to fill our divots. I don't like leaving divots behind without filling them. The Misting system on the carts made the afternoon heat a little more bearable.
Great course -- fast greens
The course was in great condition, although one of the 9's (Acacia) was closed due to aerification. However, the greens were *extremely* fast -- like putting on concrete in some cases. I cannot remember ever missing two 3-4 foot putts in a single round and I missed four that day.
A so-so resort course
Fairly mundane course architecture. No signature holes or features. It's well-maintained and very forgiving - errant tee shots usually end up in an adjacent fairway. Overall, I expected more from a Westin course. I would not pay their rack rates during high season.
Exceeded my expectations!
With temps hovering around +40C everyday, I was expecting the course to be dried up. Pleasantly surprised to find a well maintained, well watered course. Greens were receiving. Maybe a little slow. Probably letting grass grow a little to retain watering. I thoroughly enjoyed my 2 rounds.
Great course very well maintained
This course was in great shape, the practice facilities were nice and the staff was friendly and courteous. Kierland has 3 nine-hole courses, we played the Ironwood and Acacia courses. The courses were not very long and have forgiving landing areas off the tees on several holes. This made the experience enjoyable for our group which included a variety skill levels. The greens were well manicured and pretty fast, with some difficult pins. I can not emphasize enough how nicely maintained the course. Overall it was a very enjoyable golf experience.
Nice course but too many people and slow play!
How can you charge these green fees and put a fivesome on the course? Play was way too slow and spoiled the round.
Wonderful layout, 3 nines each with their own personality. Only drawback was a slow twosome ahead of us that held up play ... no marshall
Played Mesquite and Acacia for twilight rate. Beautiful practise facility to warm up before the round, personable starter and pro shop staff as well as refreshment cart and food service. Some challenging holes and surprises but no trick holes. Fairly open and fair. Fans and mist in the carts were welcome in the heat. Only complaint was a slow twosome ahead of us that without any marshall to speed up. Fortunately we finished in enough time to see the piper play Dreamweaver's Canyon .... a classy touch to a great golf outing.
A gem in the middle of Scottsdale
Kierland offers a great course with a great facility. The course, from tee to green is just perfect. The right amount of challenges gives you the chance to play aggressively if you want without being penalized too much. The only thing missing was.... sand to fill divots. But other than that, a perfect place to play in the middle of Scottsdale.
Fantastic course, staff and facilities.
This course/resort is part of the Westin group and as such has an expensive rack rate but after keeping an eye on Golf now my wife and I found a good deal(still on expensive side) to play this course. We booked to play on the Ironwood and Acacia course at a tee time 8:30.
Staff on arrival very friendly and helped us through the booking in process and directions to practise area. This itself was immaculate and after hitting a few we were ushered to our air conditioned buggy with mist spray and introduced to the starter who set us off with the usual instruction and tips with a joke or two thrown in as well.
I'm off 9 and played off the back tees which were perfect and as the course unfolded gave the right amount of challenge. The pace of play was great and the views and course condition fabulous. This truly is a course you must play and it's up there with the best of courses Az has to offer.
We finished our round where our clubs were cleaned to within an inch of their life by the super efficient staff.
We stayed on and had a wonderful lunch and would highly recommend this venue for golf and food.
Well maintained
The water for the cart coolers didn't work but otherwise it is a great experience.
Resort Course that you pay a Premium for Location
Well Kierland has three nines and is a resort course. Many of the fairways have large mounds or hills that help your ball back into play. Course is ok, but not worth $200 per round. I booked on Golfnow and paid half that amount. Anyway, I'd play this course again. Just be cognizant of the green fees. Driving rain was nice.
This is a great course and in great condition. Great Staff
Everything about Kierland is great except the price. As have other courses in the area they have raised their prices to the point of excluding alot of people. Not necessarily the way to GROW golf
Immaculate Conditions, Beuatiful Resort Vistas
Loved the two courses we played - Mezquite and Acacia. They were both challenging and fair, and both were in excellent condition. Beautiful mountain vistas along the way. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Only the 9th hole on Acacia was a bit over the top. Sharp slopes toward the water and no cart access. You had to keep going up and down from the cart path to the ball. Got very tiring. Added 15 minutes to the round.
Beautiful condition, moderately difficult, exepensive.
The course was in excellent condition and the layout of the course provided for fairly easy play. A tad expensive for an average day out, but worth a splurge if you're looking for a good course close to Scottsdale.
Excellent shape and pace. Could not ask for better.
Acacia on the front, challenging and awesome. Back was the Mesquite side and rather flat but still in great shape. Greens are true, fairways are nice, keeping drives in them is key, longer grass outside fairways adds difficulty and length. We played a combination between gold and black to keep things realistic and fair. Suggest other golfers do the same for pace. Staff helpful and allowed excellent time between groups, no over crowding like the rest of the valley recently. Enjoy a great golf outing,
Very nice tourist course.
The fairways and greens were in excellent shape and manicured. The layout of the holes was good but not memorable or challenging. It certainly meets expectations of an upscale tourist course which was what we wanted for our first round of the new year.
GREAT COURSE
I would rate this course as one of the top 5 I have played in the last 25 years. The shape of the coures was excellent. The deal we bought to play there was also the best in the last 25 years. This course has everything for the beginner to the scratch golfer. The greens were perfect not slow and not pro speed. The practice area was a little small but very well done with yardages and putting green was at the same speed as the course was. The staff were very helpful getting us to the right 9. I will be looking a booking deal to play there again.
Well maintained with lots of beauty from tee to green!
Loved playing the course for the first time, just disappointed that the price is not in my range without a discount deal.
Generous fairways-well protected greens-interesting pin placements.
Beautiful desert course and immaculately maintained.
Had one of my better rounds of the year with friends from Scottsdale.
Found it somewhat pricey compared to other similarly prominent courses that have more character, elevation changes and scenery.
Great layout.
This course has a great layout. You have to work for you're pars but the course isn't so difficult you want to quit the game when finished.
