Second time around, liked it much better
Played this course a few years back and wasn’t overly impressed, partly due to price. But played again this fall, just after overseeding, and came away with a better appreciation for the course. It can be slightly repetitive- on the front nine the fellow we played with was laughing about how there was a sand trap 260 yards out on every whole, which seemed true - but the course is in good shape, well tended, and is fun to play. I still don’t think it’s quite as nice as its sister course Cattail, but I’ll admit it’s grown on me. Greens are good, tee boxes are good, and the staff are friendly.
Nice course - extremely slow
First the positives. Nice course and very friendly staff. The course is quite expensive and believe that pace of play should be a part of the experience. We played in 5 hours 10 minutes. There was no martial on the course. By hole 4 we knew we were going to be in for a slow round. Waiting on every hole, in fact there were three groups waiting on one of the Par 3 Tee boxes. The day could have been great, however, the frustration impacted the enjoyment.
Great course
The course was in great shape. Pace of play was great. Definitely recommend this course, good value for the money. The staff was very friendly. Definitely will play this course again.
The layout is fine and overall the course was in good condition. Service was excellent. My only complaints:
(1) sprinklers were on when we arrived and the fairways were over watered and soggy for the entire round (7:45 am - noon). Balls regularly plugged on the fairways; and,
(2) it was over priced. I’ve played better courses in greater Phoenix / Scottsdale area for a lot less.
We were behind 3 groups of buddies who combined to lay as seven for the last four holes and there was no ranger to stop them
Very disappointed in pace of play being behind a group of seven golfers. We asked if we could play through and they said no so we left the course and did not play the last two hole. Management did say the Marshalls had left.
Decent value
The greens were slow and the fairways were soaked in some spots so there wasn’t much rollout. Super friendly staff, average layout. Pretty forgiving course yet still has some teeth
Choose this one!!!
In Az for 12 days from NC and played every day with deals off GolfNow. Booked this for the last day and glad I did! This course was plush and very challenging. Gorgeous views with strategically placed traps and trees. Dog legs left and right, with multiple tee options for you to choose from to decide how much you want to bite off!! I put this course in my top three along with Grayhawk and Phoenician. Only negative I have is it was CPO as they’ve started over seeding the fairways and the greens were fuzzy and slow as well due to this. Undulating fairways and greens added to the course whereas most tracks around the area are all perfectly flat. Loved this course and would play it again on a return trip. You won’t be disappointed and will be glad you booked this one.
Great pkace
Great staff , course very enjoyable, challenging but not crazy
Whirlwind Cattail
Course is in excellent condition for end of summer in Arizona. They have a great range and practice area and upmarket range balls.
You could still see punch marks on the greens but they rolled true and were a good speed. We didn't encounter any other golfers during our round. Staff was friendly.
In hot summer this year the course is in very good condition we enjoy playing there
