Memorable Layout and Excellent Greens
I visit Greenhorn Creek from the Bay Area several times a year. I always enjoy the greens, which are exceptionally smooth and reasonably fast. And I love the course layout, which has good variety and some very memorable holes.
Nice Track
Great layout, nice conditions and overall good times! It’s a must play course in the Sierras!
Great Course Design In Ex Condition - Staff Could Improve A Bit
After a boring first hole that helps you overcome first tee jitters, this course takes you on a nice ride of short par 4s and par 5s with great deception off the tee. Long hitters who know the course well could probably shoot some very low scores, but first timers will be deceived by the elevation changes and blind shots. A very fun course in excellent condition. I normally walk but was worried about slow play on a hot day, so took a cart for shade support.
The downside: no marshals to assist in speeding up play - even on a busy Saturday in August. Since this is a "resort" course you get some very poky players out there. No on-course refreshments. When we were finished at 530 pm and wanted a beer and something to eat, we could not get a straight answer about what we needed to do for that to happen. I understand that COVID-19 has caused golf courses to change how they do things, but by this point most of them have figured this all out. Apparently not this one. A simple sheet of paper telling us what we could drink and eat while sitting outside would have saved time and we wouldn't have had to go eat somewhere else.
A disappointing end to a great day of (slow) golf.
Challenging Course
Playing this course for the first time I was amazed by the Vista and layout.
Knowing now what I did not know the first time around playing smart game and change in routine use of certain clubs should improve my score.
Greenhorn Creek
Course is in good shape sand bunkers are horrible tons of rocks in them.. Tee boxes could be flatter.. Greens are rolling good.. It’s kinda of expensive for a round but all in all course looks good..
Always enjoyable
Great course in great shape. Never get tired of it. It’s a real treat. Even when the weather is cookin.
Great scenery
I’ve played this course 4 times and I am always pleasantly surprised at it’s beauty. Challenging yet forgiving. You will see deer and other wildlife. Greens are quick and will take you a couple holes to get use to them. I recommend this course to anyone and everyone. ***** (5 stars)
Greens are pure
Beautiful greens! From Tee-box to green. You can see the gorgeous landscape with deer wondering. Beautiful homes along most of the course, far enough away from the fairways. True greens to put your putting skills to the test. Need to have your A game to score good. Recommend this to Amateur golfers or more experienced players. Enjoy playing here whenever I can. Last time I played there, my friend Larry has never played it. Quote: Larry comment on ever hole was: this is the most beautiful course ever..
Will be back every year!
Awesome course. Condition is great. Well maintained. Staffs were friendly and informative.
Great course with great beauty
Played over the holidays. Course was in excellent condition, great greens and most important, great restraunt. Expect to see wildlife (Deer) on the course! People were very friendly here.
Excellent conditions !!!
Everything about greenhorn creek was fantastic! From the beautiful clubhouse to the unbelievable conditions! The fastest screens I’ve ever played !
Rude staff
Course seems like it could be really great. Just got finished golfing there and they booked a 4 pack in front of us, then myself which was two and then a single behind us with a four behind them. So I don't mind waiting and we are friendly so we ended up teaming up with single behind us to help speed things up. Well the course referee named joe supposedly saw my partner getting his ball out of brush while waiting for the players in front of us to get out of range so he came down screaming using f word telling usthat we are holding up everyone, mind you we could not hit cause the people in front of us. Then when we explain he proceeds to argue and and yell. Anyways our 18 hole game ended at nine because it ruined the day. Management didn't really seem to care. Don't waste money. Saddle creek always seems polite and nice.
Not worth $100
Charged us$100
Greens extremely pocked. Fast and bumpy. Not worth the fee.
A scenic neighborhood course at the foot of the Sierras
For a course that winds through an sprawling neighborhood, Greenhorn Creek sure is scenic and pleasantly peaceful.
There are some truly remote spots where there are no houses to interrupt the stunning views of the foothills of the Sierras - notably the par 3s at 13 and 15.
The front side is great for scoring. Two of the three par 5s - holes 4 and 7 - are short from the blues (both under 481 yards) and ripe for eagles and birdies. The fairways shrink on the tighter, more demanding back nine.
The restaurant in the clubhouse is excellent, so stop for a bite after the round. The prime rib special and live music packs in the crowds for a nice ambiance on the weekends.
great place, coming back in march 2016
Played this course last year, by far it was a great experience. Eagles a par 5, had a chance for another on 18 bit it didnt go my way walked away with a birdie though. Heading back up in march from Fresno Ca cant wait.
Great course.
Great course to play very well maintained. Moderate front. Gets more challenging in the back.
Great course.
The course was beautiful and challenging, fairways pretty narrow (which I like).
Had a great time, was worth the two hour ride from Woodland.
the course was in great shape and the atmosphere was great!
we thoroughly enjoyed our day and will play at Greenhorn again. the Golfnow price was as excellent value.
