Hole #12 I believe. Photo submitted by Trailerteri on 04/03/2013
Best deal in the Desert
Terrific layout that is both challenging and beautiful.
The amount of vegetation flowers and greenery is amazing. Fair for every range of handicap. Greens were in perfect condition albeit a bit slow due to the late afternoon round. The clubhouse is spectacular and the pro shop is very high end.
Very helpful Marshall moved us ahead of a tournament
fabulous course
This was our second time playing Indian Wells. What an experience. First class all the way. From the concierge to the pro shop, practice range and of course the course. Very friendly staff.. 5 star all the way .
A joy to play
First time playing the celebrity course at Indian wells. It is instantly in my top 3 funnest courses I have ever played! Both par 5s are reachable with good drives from the correct tees. The 4th at 491 from blues is a classic risk reward hole. Hit it over the tree guarding the right side of the fairway. From there it was only a 5 wood for me, mostly carry over water but you have some room before green to work with. (Probably 20 yards or so.) The par 4 12th is reachable at only 250 yards. Not much trouble around green so blast away. There are quite a few strategic shortish par 4s where you can hit many different clubs from 4 iron to driver depending on how you want to play hole. These are balanced by 4 long par 4s from 410-450 where par is a great score. Course was in fantastic shape from tee to green. Greens very pure. Don't forget about the grain on the Bermuda greens as they influence virtually every putt. This course is much wider and more forgiving than the players course. Anyone from scratch to high handicappers can play this course and enjoy it from the correct tees. I played with my wife and father who are both high handicappers and they both enjoyed it very much, but maybe not as much as I did! Will definitely play again, and again if I get the chance.
Nice Course, Not Worth The Money
The Players course at Indian Wells was underwhelming after hearing and seeing so much fanfare about the course. The course was in great condition and the Marshal was on the ball keeping slower groups moving. My complaints pertain to the cost and what you get in the course. I’ve golfed several high end muni’s that are on Par with the players course at half the price. The check in was slow with the computer system issues which was no fault of the pro-shop staff. Extremely expensive drinks on the cart as well. Won’t be back unless there are better deals to be had.

Great course, great shape, great memory and will be sure to return and play again. If you have time check out "The View" restaurant. Would highly recommend the swordfish dinner.
Beautifully maintained golf course that is fair and playable for a range of skills....our group had seniors and low handicappers and all enjoyed it . Challenging greeens mean you have to be in the right side of the hole to score ....wish had time to play again.
Great golf in palm desert @ Indian wells, celebrity
This was an excellent golfing experience. Starting at the bag drop and throughout the day all the personal contact off the course and on the course reflected a well trained and friendly and helpful staff. Great club house with high end products of any sort you care to buy for both women and men. The golf course is the most manicured of the six courses I’ve played on this golfing vacation. Great water features add to the visual experience on the course as well. Greens are in great shape, fast, but not punishingly so. Tees and fairways were in splendid condition. Definitely worth the price we paid. If ever I’m back in the area, this course would be a must play,
Enjoyed our. Game. Pace of play was fine on a beautiful day in peak season. Views of mountain ranges were outstanding. Will likely return
Indian Wells Players is great shotmakers course
As a test of golf, I'd rather play the Players Course than the Celebrity Course because it's certainly more demanding and probably offers a little more variety. It just isn't as visually stunning as the Celebrity Course, which is why I didn't give the Players Course five stars (but I definitely considered it). With this said, I'd play this course over and over again. This is the proverbial "you get to use every club in the bag" course. A terrific variety of holes include the par-4 sixth, which wraps around a lake, ala Bay Hill no. 6, and the drivable par-4 third hole. I also like the fact that all the par 5s are reachable if you have reasonable length off the tee (and play the right tees). In addition to the golf, be sure to check out the clubhouse restaurant, the VUE, which has all kinds of top-chef menu items and a fantastic selection of wines and spirits from the bar.
Celebrity Course is incredibly beautiful and enjoyable
I had a hard time with this review because I couldn't figure out whether I wanted to pull the trigger on giving it five stars. In the end, I just had to ask myself one simple question: How much did I enjoy the round? The answer is a resounding "as much as I have most any round of golf.". The reasons are simple: The scenery is amazing, from the mountains that frame most of the holes to the flowers and water features and quality of holes. While this might not be a major tournament venue, it's still plenty of golf course, yet playable by every level. And by that, I mean if you tackle this from the back tees at more than 7,000 yards, it'll test you (unless your name is Fred Couples, who has the course record at 62). Play it from the proper set of tees, though, and you'll have a great time... Also, be sure to stick around for a meal and/or a drink at the VUE clubhouse restaurant. Food and spirits are as good as anything in the Valley.
Awesome
Course was great. Beautifully manicured. Staff were amazing. Top notch.
A must play in Palm Springs
This course is a real treat to play. The hole layouts are all unique and memorable, conditions are perfect including nicely rolled greens. Lots of variety off the tee with multiple clubs required. Pace of play was great (1:20 tee off). Played a handful of courses in Palm Springs including Desert Willow (both courses), Escena, Classic Club and the Celebrity Course at Indian Wells would edge out Desert Willow Firecliff as our favourite course that we have played so far. Would definitely recommend!
Perfect in every way
Great day, 80 and not a cloud in the sky. The greens and fairways are pristine, no dry spots, not wet spots. They leave the rough dormant in the winter which I like.
Perfect golf day on a perfect course
Celebrity @ IW
Played the Blues (6642/72.3/133) with GK Guru's David, Matt & Gus early morning. Fun group to play with! We had a frost delay and it was CPO for the 1st few holes. The weather was calm and sunny. Cold when we started around 8 but had warmed up to perfect conditions by the time we finished a little after noon.
Celebrity has a unique way of getting to a par 72. Fourteen par 4's with only two par 5's and two par 3's. Normally, that would be a detriment, but the par 4's here all have a different feel/look, good mixture of longer and risk/reward holes to keep things fun and interesting. This course would be a beast to walk as numerous holes are a ways from the last green. Tougher than average layout, up/down hills and the large greens complexes are challenging.
The over seeded tees were lush with few divots. No challenges getting level lies.
The over seeded fairways were very lush and provided excellent lies.
The over seeded rough was very lush and not overly penal.
The sand traps were decently maintained with nice fine sand.
The over seeded greens were nice. They putted medium fast, were smooth and even though firm, held well struck irons well.
The customer service was exceptional as always here. Complementary range balls on an all grass range is always a plus. Cart person around numerous times. Excellent breakfast sandwich and Arnold Palmer before the round were very good. Very nice course in near immaculate condition. Highly recommended.
Players @ IW
Played the Orange Tees (6538/71.6/130) with GK Guru's Kevin, Larry and David in slightly over 4H twilight. Really nice to play with Larry/David for the first time and to get to play with Kevin again! Almost perfect golf weather, clear and fairly calm in the mid 70's.
The course conditions were very good, but not nearly as good as it's Celebrity sister course. The layout is a good mixture of flat and rolling hills. Par 72 (37-35) with 7 sets of well spaced tees. I especially like how basically all their tees except the tips are combo tees. Makes it easier for people to play different tees since you are playing 9 tees from the color in front of you on most tee sets.
The tees were lush and nicely maintained with few divots.
The over seeded fairways were lush and VERY nice to play from.
The mostly dormant Bermuda rough is not over seeded like Celebrity. It is decent to play from, but a large step down from the plush over seeded rough @ Celebrity.
The sand traps were nicely maintained with nice fine sand.
The over seeded greens putted medium fast, were firm and had few ball marks. However, several greens had so much coot poop they severely hampered play on those holes. These large greens have many subtle undulations with few straight putts.
I enjoy this layout more with each visit. Challenging course featuring many holes with fairways that are either narrow in the landing area or require turning the ball to get in prime positions. Large challenging green complexes. This course would be challenging to walk since there are numerous tees hundreds of yards from the last green.
The customer service is always excellent here. Had a cheeseburger and lemonade for lunch, pricey but excellent. Cart gal was around numerous times. Complementary range balls on an all grass range is always a plus. Definitely recommended.
