Old School Fun
Played on a nice sunny day with a bit of a sea breeze.Course seemed to play much longer then the stated yardage and our scores were well over our handicaps. Small greens are well bunkered and very tricky indeed.Generous fairways, just a nice old style course! We got an afternoon Hot Deal which is definately the way to go as green fees can be a little pricey.
True value on the peninsula
Outstanding greens and exceptional customer service. Definitely straight-forward, old style, but the challenge is still there, and the attention to detail makes this a sleeper value on the Monterey Peninsula! A must for every golf history buff.....
average experience for a golf course part of pebble beach brand
I was. not impress by the golf conditions, for the price I would play other courses in the area.
Beating the Rain
Got off a bit early to beat the rain. The course was in great condition with smooth sloping greens and challenging pins. Fun to play since rough is down, not many fairway bunkers and NO WATER hazards. Much improved since we've had some rain to green up the fairways.
This course was in excellent condition
Couldn't have picked a better day to play golf, everything was perfect. Love this course
Windy But Nice
First time playing this course. Got a great deal on golfnow and went down. Hardly anyone on the course so they let me out early, good thing the rains were coming. Very windy for the first nine, ball moved a couple of times when putting. Read some earlier reviews and didn't quite know what to think. The fairways were in very good shape as were the bunkers and the greens. 6 of the first 7 holes I played into the wind, wow I parred the No. 1 handicapped hole. Sun came out for the last 10 holes and the wind died down a little which made it a little easier. I put fair on the weather as it was very windy early on which made the course very tough. Club selection was tough against the wind and with it. I finished the round in 3 hours taking my time. Overall the course was in very good shape. Forgot to mention the tee boxes were also in great condition. The staff were very friendly and probably the only thing I can say negative about this course is that I think you are paying a higher price because it is Monterey. It is a course worth playing though so I do recommend this course. I will play it again if I get a good price.
had a good round
we came day after big rain, all was ok. carts stay on path meant slower play time. club house staff great and friendly. informative about course condition.
However, ground keepers walking on course while golfers on tee box not cool. heard rumors of found under ground water source and lake planning. we felt they could have found better time to make survey measurements.

Day at Del Monte
Disappointed in the condition of the course, but the staff said the recent rains had made the course soft, muddy and an issue in places. But for the cost it was only a fair value.
Expected more
Considering they charge $95 to play and that they are one of the Pebble Beach Courses, I was expecting more. I got it for around $48 on Golf Now, so that wasn't too bad.
Soggy But Playable
We played after several days of rain although this day was sunny. The course was wet and soggy but that was expected. There was standing water in a few of the bunkers.
Not bad
This was my first time ever playing this course. I found a great deal on Golfnow for about $48. Not bad considering it's $95 to play there. I finished the course in 2.5 hrs, and I had to wait in the last few holes. The course didn't feel like a $95 one. The tee boxes, greens, and fairways were in good shape.
oldest course west of the mississippi
Take a course in patience. Not long ,( 6365) from the back, however each shot must be played as if the round depended on it. even after 2 days of rain, the greens were fast and true. Overall, you will greatly enjoy a round here and on a pristine day, it will be memorable!
Awesome golf course with reasonable price
This is my first time golfing at the Del monte golf course, Monterey. Impressive kindly staffs and beautiful field made me happy. Furthermore, reasonable price was awesome!!
Del Monte - in the winter
Played this wonderful old course during a slightly rainy weekday. Hardly anyone else was playing, so
I was by myself. I played as a riding single and finished in less then 3 hours. Due to early season
rains, the course was in great shape. Fairways were
green and full. The rough was thick and the greens
were a bit slow. Talking to the staff, the course has improved greatly from the rains. I had a very
good time...................
A shame for Pebble Beach
This course is a shame for the Pebble Beach reputation. I understand that they can't water the course as much as needed, but they shouldn't charge that amount the money for a course in such a bad condition. Plus the layout is very average, with holes very close to an hotel. Noisy, bad shape. good staff.
discouraging
Well. I was very disapointed last time I played it was not a pebble beach property so I had high expectations
I understand we are in adrought. But dead and bumpy greens and. Unusable tee boxes not to mention. Poor bunker conditions from a maintenace stand point I would have thought with PB name on line those things would have been seriously better would have rather played rancho canada. So very disappointed
Old Del Monte
The greens were great, but the fairways were very disappointing - due to the severe drought. Anything off the fairway was dirt which can be hard to hit off. Courses in Carmel Valley seem to be less impacted by the drought so far.
Del Monte Sacrifice
With more than seven hours between the end of my meeting till my flight time, Del Monte was a logical choice. The staff was helpful and pleasant. My playing partners were good hearted locals..
Now for the course I had not played in 7 years. This is a great old style course. Time was been kind and the on going drought has not! The layout is challenging and more frustrating when you cannot find turf. The course is a treasure and I hope it recovers/survives.
Fast Greens
Amazing greens! Fast, fast and fast. Drought has affected overall conditions of fairways but most courses in the area face the same problem. If you are an NCGA member, Poppy Hills is a better value for the money. Wanted to play this course once in my life. Mission accomplished.
The greens were perfect rolling true it was a great experience
The greens were beautiful rolling true the course is in great shape even though it's a little bit of a drought time in Northern California
