Pretty average
First time playing this course. The other two 9 hole courses were closed so if you want to play 18 you play the same 9 twice. The course was not in great shape. The fairways were a bit scruffy, the bunkers were hard and had grass growing in them and big clumps around them. The greens were extremely hard and balls did not hold. To be fair this appears to be mostly for residents living in th community and most are older. The pace was quite slow due to this and many people moving slowly or not able to hit the ball far. Staff were very friendly and the restaurant was great for a bite to eat after the round.
A solid traditional course
Indian Palms is a solid traditional course layout and offers a challenge at very reasonable rates.
Shockingly bad
Booked 18 turned up only 9 open. This 9 was in bad shape very patchy fairways and greens. No apology from guy on desk no starter just agreed with another golfer to take buggy and hope
Waste of time and money came off early pity there is not a zero star-my advice don’t go
The owner is trying to sell the course for Condos.
The owner is trying to destroy this course to develop condos on the grounds. They initially were closing the course a few months ago but the community is fighting back. Unfortunately, the owner will probably win because he refuses to maintain the property and also refuses to sell it to the HOA so they can take it over. He just wants his development project and doesn’t care about anyone who lives in this community.
Run down course
The nine holes we played was in poor shape. Very dry and beat up. The greens were dry and in poor shape as were the fairways and tee boxes. The only redeeming factor is the price, $35. The restaurant is good as well.
Only one nine was open so we played it twice. The greens were awful--tons of bare dirt areas. The fairways were likewise in rough shape with lots of dirt areas and rough on the side six or eight inches high.
A little shabby
First time playing here, the course was a little shabby but at this time of year it was ready for over seeding. That being said it was still a fun course to play. Might play it again sometime.
Great day
Overall, course was in great shape . It had just reopened and greens were a bit slow but in great shape.
Unfortunate
My last several trips to Palm Desert I always try to give this course a chance. I was there 9 months ago they said under construction don't worry soon everything will be better. 4 months ago almost exactly the same thing. I went yesterday and after driving around the perimeter of the course realize it's unplayable. It's a shame I feel bad writing this review. I hope and pray things get better for
Course review
For $37 I guess you don’t expect much and I was suprised. Just a poorly kept unattractive course. Better than a driving range for practice I guess.
Yikes
We read all of the reviews coming in to avoid this course due to poor conditions. Unfortunately due to a late start in planning, this was the only place we could find tee times on a Saturday AM so we decided to give it a shot. 2.5 hours and 9 holes later, we walked back to our car with a consensus review of "big mistake". Conditions of greens and fairways were average (generous) to poor. Layout was OK albeit with mostly tight fairways surrounded by houses on both sides. But the biggest issue was pace of play. We got off to a bad start as the starter forgot about us after telling us to wait in our carts, and sent two other groups to the tee that had times after us. Unfortunately it got worse from there because for 7 of the 9 holes, the group in front of us had yet to tee off when we pulled up to the tee. After 2.5 hours to play 9 holes at an excruciating pace, we decided to end the suffering and call it a day. The only upside I can offer is the price, as the $50 green fee on a Saturday morning is well below any other course in the valley, but as a wise man once said, "you get what you pay for" and there is a definite reason this course is so cheap. As we drove back to our car to unload our bags, we saw at least four other groups sitting in their carts waiting to be released into the pit of despair. In summary, I can say this course, despite the price, is only suitable for those with the patience of a Mother Teresa and the (golf) appetite of Joey Chestnut.
Unfortunate timing
Course in terrible shape worse we’ve ever seen. We played day before course was going to be over seeded so no effort had been put into course at all. Understand but unfortunate timing for us.
Ok when everything else was closed
Although I was checked in before my tee time, the starter had given my spot away so I had to wait. The group two groups in front of us was 2 holes behind, but absolutely no marshalling staff to move them along. it was a 5.5 hr round. Good thing the weather was perfect.
