Indian Palms Golf & Country Club - Royal/Indian
About
This course dates back to the 1940s and carries a powerful history. Dwight Eisenhower and John Kennedy played many a round at Indian Palms, back when it was called Cochran Ranch. Eisenhower loved the place so much, he wrote his memoirs at the ranch.
You might become enraptured with Indian Palms' past. But the course itself has very much moved into the 21st century.
Each of the nines carries its own personality. The Indian nine is the longest, with the most straight-forward holes. The Royal nine features water on eight of its holes. (Yes, your break from water is one hole total).

Much improved from last year
You can see they are making an effort to improve course conditions. Give it a couple more years and should be in great shape. Wish they would close one of the 3 nine courses and make it pristine and then move on to another. Still is in Much better than last few years. Keep up the good work. I like the challenge of some narrow fairways. Greens better but still a few rough spots.
Course has very poor yardage marks
There were no yard mark available, so 80% of the time we had no idea how far we were from the greens. There was what was supposed to be a drawing of the hole lay out at the Tee, but most of them were damaged by the sun and you couldn’t make out the lay out, so a couple of times we landed in water because we didn’t know there was water. I had played there before, but it was long time ago and I didn’t remember the lay out of the holes. The greens were not in the best condition. There were a lot of dry areas making the course not be very appealing. The price is similar to courses near by that are in better condition.
Course is narrow and somewhat challenging
Course is getting better. Played last year and not in good shape. Management is putting in effort to improve and it shows. Hope they continue the effort to improve because it shows.Challenging because it has several narrow fairways.
staff was not here
tee time at 6:30 and it was not open was not able to get on for 30 minutes
Indian Palms GC
Disappointed that the kitchen was not open. There was a ladies group sitting on the patio but could not get any food, as we couldn't. The check in was painfully slow. Course conditions are good except the greens. They have been punched and are still in pretty bad shape.
Needs Improvement
I don’t mind the layout of this course. However, the condition of the course is dismal. I played the course in November and it was dismal then, but they were overseeding so I gave them some leeway. Now playing it in March I see very little improvement. This course needs WATER in the worst way.
Very disappointing, I probably won’t bother to play here again.
IPCC continues to improve in 2026!
still a ways to go but someone is making an attempt to bring it back to life which is great to see!
we hope it continues!
Worst green in the valley
From staff that struggle to process customers to below average fairways you get to the sad sack greens. The best part of this course is the second cut. Only 18 of 27 holes open, I have played this course before but this is by far the worst shape ever.
Cheap to play winter golf
Grass and fairways and tees are OK, but greens either don’t have grass or furrows of tufted grass. As an owner of said course, I would be embarrassed to charge as a more premium establishment in prime time.
You get what you pay for.
I cant be too hard in this review considering we only paid $55 per person for 18 with a cart. Most of the tee boxes were in average to decent shape. Grass was a little long. Greens were very rough. Looked like they might have been aerated a few weeks ago but were still difficult to putt on. Ball washers inop, no beverages on the course, weeds in some of the traps. Good news is we played in 3 hours. Dont expect much if you go to play here. And definitely do not pay over $55 for a round!
Poor Conditions, Nothing has changed in 3 years
I know they say that they are undergoing a "major renovation", but I see nothing that would suggest this. We have golfed this course the past 3 years and it gets worse every year. I never seen greens as bad as the mountain and Royal. The owners should be embarrassed. We spend 5 months a year in the coachella valley and have golfed nearly every course. This is the worst by far. Also, Don't forget to get your driver's license after they force you to leave it with them to use a cart!
Tight but fun”
This course was built in the 1960’s I’d say, tight course, bad greens this time of the year, I must say they’re working on it so the course is in better shape than last time I played here . I’d play it again !
