About Northstar California Resort
Although known as a ski resort first and foremost, golfers will love life in the summer on the mountain. Northstar's Robert Muir Graves course is a tale of two nines with the front in a meadow in Martis Valley and the back nine climbing into the trees. The ski village rocks with live concerts on weekends, multiple restaurants and a kids zone. No matter your age, there's plenty to discover: arts and crafts for the kids or yoga, mountain biking, hiking and spa for the adults.Facts

Like the course but…grass hopper problem.
We really liked the course but unfortunately there is a grass hopper infestation on the front nine. We were forewarned but I think the regular rate should have been discounted. The play on the front nine in those conditions was absolutely terrible and worse than we anticipated when we went out.
Grasshoppers Everywhere
Front 9 is inundated with millions of grasshoppers & course us very dry. & I mean millions!! Impossible to putt. Rate needs to be reduced when Like this!!
Grasshoppers!
Course is normally super fun, great staff, layout and pace of play. There’s a grasshopper issue and it makes the front 9 almost completely impossible to play. Wish we knew!
Great Staff
The staff was great. Their starter helped pair with another group.to make the pace of play balanced. The course conditions are much better than last year.
Disgusting
Ridiculous flying crickets the entire front nine. Thousands of them. The course should have informed players and offered deep discounts
Bar didn’t open till 8 snack bar didn’t open till 10. They don’t accept anything but credit card too. It was a layout you’d enjoy the 2nd time out.
Pleasant surprise
Been a hour away for ten years. Never played here because of bad reviews. I seen the last review and it stated don’t listen to old reviews the course is nice now. So I decided to try it out. Come to find out they have a new director of golf and have hired more maintenance staff. Really enjoyed playing. Course was in good shape. Front 9 open links and back 9 in the pines. I’ll definitely be back.
Great course, reviews are old and wrong
Played the course first time, will go back for sure. Course is pretty and front 9 in the valley and open. and back 9 is through trees and tight. Both are totally different and challenging. Course was in good shape.
Beautiful setting
Rough too long for resort course. Sometimes lost a ball 3 feet off fairway. Greens okay. Back 9 is a completely different course from front. Target golf on the back with a lot of elevation change. Fun course if you don’t care too much about score
Not a good value
Unfortunately, the golf courses in pretty shoddy condition. I see weeds growing in their bent grass greens. Bunkers are awful, a lot of the rough hasn’t been mowed as you can see dandelion heads growing.
For an additional $70 you can go play Coyote Moon and it’s in fantastic shape. You amortize that over 18 holes you’re talking about three dollars or so more per hole for a greater playing experience.
The worst part about it is I drove two hours to get there, and was very disappointed.
The best thing about playing yesterday, the two guys I played with were fun, and the Smashburger was delicious.
Not worth the money
We were excited to play Northstar for the first time - well not impressed at all - course is not in good shape for the cost to play - it is not a forgiving golf course at all - course knowledge is a must on this course. We were given a very poor photo copy of a score card with recommendations on where to hit listed on the edge of the card - most of the recommendations were cut off and could not read. For the cost to play as well as high cost of food/drink, this course should be much better.
