The ranch-style Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook is just minutes away from Temecula wine country. All 132 rooms have either been renovated or will be soon. A heated outdoor pool, four lighted tennis courts and fitness room are available to guests. The golf course starts out narrow but gets more scenic with more elevation changes later in the round.Facts

Great Day
The course was great, and the staff is very friendly. Greens were fast and in great shape. We all had breakfast there, as in the past, but the breakfast burritos definitely went down hill. These need some work. I use this as my energy booster for the course. All-in-all, it was a great day.

Pace of Play
The course allowed a fivesome which was two groups in front of us. This group was slow, and didn't bother to allow others to play through. Finally called the pro shop and they sent someone out but by that time it was fairly late in the round. Pace of play is the most common thing that makes a round less than ideal.

Very nice course
Got a hot deal through Golfnow. Wanted to play a different course while in the area. Came over from Oceanside and was pleasantly surprised by what I saw. The course was in great shape, greens were excellent, fairways were very nice and the sand traps were surprisingly not bad. I like playing courses that have views, mountains etc. This is a very nice course and next time I am down here I will play it again.
Only weird thing the golf cart would stop as you got closer to the green, 30 yards to 100 yards out, no warning. I know golf courses do this but it would have been better to have signs out there to let you know.
Didn't comment on the amenities as I didn't use them but did see a lot of people over there so it must be OK.

Great conditions
Many courses in CA are dried up with bare spots in fairways and ugly greens. Pala Mesa is lush and fairways are beautiful. The greens are fast but true.
Staff in club house are helpful and very friendly!
Cart girl showed up several times which was excellent during our hot day of play.
Bar/restaurant had great food and drinks and Sara, our server, was soooo nice and friendly! Great HH too!

Not a pleasant experience
Carts were very dirty. They had a GPS system with bluetooth speakers, which was a bonus. But if you drove closer than 90 yards to the green (yes, 90 yards), once you stopped the carts would only go in reverse at a snails pace. We have carts at our course that will not let you get closer than 30 yards from the green but 90 yards is ridiculous. Perhaps it was a malfunction or not correctly programed but both carts did the same thing and no one at the course warned us of this. The condition of the course was marginal, greens were good.

carts are disable sometime more than 100 yards from green with no sign in fairway warning to proceed to cart path
