Worth the trip
I have been playing SVGC for many years now. I have never been disappointed. As I live in San Diego and it is in Ramona it can be a bit of a drive, but is worth the trip. Here’s why: they take care of the course, it is always in reasonable shape. Let’s be honest, it’s not an Aviara where you expect everything to be green, this is a desert course that sees a fair amount of play, the staff are very nice, they are a family friendly resort course so they deal with all sorts. This is not the snooty country club set. My partner and I decided we wanted to go around again, Terry, in the pro shop was very honest and obliging with us, and got us off the first tee right away. It was a great day!
Really Good Golf Resort
Great weather. Good fairways. Reasonably challenging, particularly into the wind.
Greens are a bit bumpy (punched on the 3rd)
Overall, a really good place to play and a nice value.
Super Hot Deal
Best Hot Deal experience at San Vicente. Got there late for an 1152 tee time. Didn’t have to wait to check in. Cart was ready. My friend was ready. She and I played by ourselves. No waiting at all behind another twosome Great weather. Greens were a little slow but the course was in great condition. I would definitely play this course again.
Hole closed
Place has really gone to the dumps. Hole 4 closed due to maintenance. Tried to overcharge. Pro shop guy has been rude for 20 years. Course in terrible shape. Don’t waste your money
Slow Play
The greens were recently punched so I will give them a pass for that. What I can't excuse is the slow play. This was made worse as there were two fivesomes ahead of us with very slow players....and no marshal to enforce speed of play. If they continue to allow fivesomes I will play elsewhere.
The course just punched all the greens 5 days ago and no one told me about this or I would not have played. Could not putt on any green. I should have been told
Great Warm-Up Course!
Pace of Play was slow. We were a 2some playing behind 4 Legends!!
Slow greens
Slowest greens in San Diego. Slow play. Not worth drive. Never saw a marshall.
Quality course
This course offers med length and occasional elevation changes. Though the fairways are wintering, they are I'm good condition. The greens are in quite good shape somewhat fast and putt true. Only course downside would be wet/hard sand traps. Overall, one of the best golfing values around.
Glad I teamed up with jim
First time playing, on first tee joined with a local player, and he really helped on proper targeting. A cold rainy day, but that helped us zip around in 3.5 hours as the course was not crowded. That includes some ball hunting and a short rain break.some dormant areas and dead grass in fajrway, but greens were good. Playing with Jim helped avoid unseen trouble. A fun course. Near Mt. Woodson, another course I liked in previous years. Very pleasant staff in clubhouse, and nice beverage facilities afterwards. Will play again on another San Diego visit! Excellent price with hot deal on golfnow.
NOT WHAT IT USED TO BE!
I lived in Ramona for 20 years. 5 of them on this course. It truly was the best deal in San Diego. A hidden gem. I've played it hundreds of times. Traditionally the course was always in excellent condition throughout the year. Tee boxes, fairways and greens had always been top notch. I returned there to play a round this week after not being there for a year and was very disappointed with the conditions. Fairways were dead, tee boxes were rough, and the greens were beat up. It's still a great track and we made the best of it, but it was a bummer to see such a great course take a bad spin so quickly. Still a fun course with great pace of play. I hope they can restore it to its glory days.
Thanks so much for the review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing San Vicente Golf Resort.
Monday round
Place was fairly busy, not much greeting...course was In decent shape...could tell it took some damage from big rains....greens in good to great condition...fairways and tee boxes pretty rough...4 and half hour round....didn’t see any marshalls, or cart girls....that would have been nice....overall, still good value..
Thank you for visiting us at San Vicente Golf Resort. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.
Plenty of bald spots
For winter conditions i expected the course to be a little greener. I guess the water shortages in CA are taking their toll on SVGC. Most of the greens are in good shape.
This is a tough course to play the first time. A lot of course knowledge is needed to keep your score low. #18 is a fantastic finishing hole that provides a reward for the golfer that grips it & rips it from the elevated tee box.
San Vicente
Great course and amenities, friendly staff but quit after 11 holes because it was so slow. It ruined anotherwise great day of golf. Folks I played with quit after 9 holes. I have never played that slow ever. Almost 3 hours for 9 holes
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing San Vicente Golf Resort.
A little beat up but fun layout
It was prime time so it was a relatively slow round. Very interesting layout, unlike most courses in the area. Fairway grass was mostly very tight so it was really hard to get under the ball. Overall though, a fun course I will play again.
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. San Vicente Golf Resort thanks you!
