Stay below the hole!!
Fairways are dead, so great bounces on fairway finders, but also tight lies all day. Can’t wait to come back once the green grass returns. Fun, challenging layout with some forgiveness if you spray one here and there.
But the greens….wow. FAST and hilly. Probably rolling around 11.5 or 12 yesterday. No such thing as a flat putt to be found. And if you miss a downhill putt with some momentum, you may find yourself off the green. But, you can also putt from 30 yards off the green on many holes, which may be the better play right now!
Great staff and excellent food as well!
See you in the spring!
Fun course, challenging greens
Fun course that has some tricky greens! Summertime conditions are great, winter time is more dry but solid overall. Greens are fast!
Tough.
First time playing here. Staff was friendly, had a club tourney ahead of us holding us up a bit. This course was really fun and will challenge you as a golfer.
No grass
I was excited about the recent renewal of the greens and bunkers. But the tee boxes and fairways are basically dirt. The ground was so hard that you couldn’t even take a divot to get under the ball. They are cleanly saving money on water because what is the point in watering if there is no grass anyways. For a 75$ peak hour tee time I would expect to be hitting off of grass. Back to the new greens, they are very tough. Some of the hole locations are nearly impossible.
Too expensive
Course renovation not worth the more expensive greens fees.
Green changes are awesome. You better hit it to the right spot or 2 putts will be very difficult. Looks like they're getting ready to overseed the fairways so they're a little crunchy and tight lies. All around its in good shape and I will definitely play again and will recommend it to others.
Potential to become a better course
After renovation in 2021 the greens are in perfect condition. Pretty fast and demanding. New bunkers with deep and pretty soft sand are also difficult to play if you are not used to it. Unfortunately the fairways and areas around the greens need to be optimised. The ground is very dry and hard. The grass is brown. Speed of Play was ok. Stuff very kind and helpful. The course has potential to be developed to a better one.
Ramona Hideaway
I foresee some great opportunities for San Vincente Golf Club, though the course on the day I played was challenging the conditions of the course are promising, the fairways appeared to be dry and the greens were sprayed green, it will be awesome in wet conditions, and promising for dry conditions, the ball rolls out, the greens are very hilly, very few flat lays which could equate to a frustrating round, but if played as few times will change you as a golfer and how to play the course. All in all the course is promising.
Worth playing
The course was a fun layout and well maintained. It can get really windy around there, so watch the forecast when booking. The greens were pretty challenging - very fast and lots of slope.
Great layout.
The greens are great, and everyone is different and challenging. Will play again.
Poor fairways conditions this round
Fairways were dry and barren. Very difficult to hit the ball. Difficult course as it is made it twice as difficult.
Wish I would have had a heads up on course conditions. It was much nicer last time I played here (back in Aug)
I will have to check with the pro shop next time
Glad I got a discounted rate or it would have been a waste of money
Best Value in SD
Great greens. Very challenging with the new renovation. Sand oh God is there sand! In fact it reminded me how much work I need on my sand shots since nearly almost all SD courses suck with providing healthy sand traps! Friendly atmosphere and tee boxes were acceptable. Will most definitely play again.
Frost alert
I had a tee time at 12 and I went there at 11:30. And I was told that there’s 2hour delay due to the frost early in the morning. I wish I had been notified before I left since I had to drive for an hour to go to the resort. It’s been a nice course as I remember but the layout was changed and the fairways are not good.
The tee boxes were too hard and dry and took a long time to find a spot the tee would sink into on almost every tee box. Sand was way deep and difficult to escape. Most balls that got dropped on green would roll right off. Difficult pin positions.
