Very challenging in windy condition
Must play great design 6holes on ocean
Very challenging in windy condition
Club selection very important
Great design
One of the best courses I've ever played. Even though the first week of February the huge greens were in spectacular condition. Lots of traps with soft white sand and lots of waste areas. 5 or 6 sets of tees so you can make the course easier or harder. Carts included GPS that showed pin placements which helped since the front to back of some greens could be almost 2 clubs different. Management and staff were great. The course has a 4 hour and 20 minute play time
Not for the faint of heart
Probably one of the nicest courses I've ever played although it ate my lunch if you play here you better bring your A game I'm not sure there are 10 people in the world who could break par from the tips ,The one thing I was disappointed with was no grass to speak of in fairways in January still if your in or around palm coast play the Conservatory it's memorable
dogman
great course excellent condition! greens were perfect.
A gift of unsurpassed landscape art!
Formidable yet playable. Visually stunning. Links style. Superb course condition.
High expectations, great disappointment
Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful facility and in very good shape, but if at any time your expecting to be standing on a green looking out at the Atlantic Ocean, it never happens. Unfortunately all the holes that border the water are separated by a high wall of vegetation. Other than those holes there is no reason to travel a long distance to play this course for the $ they ask. I'm from Tampa and drove 2.5 hrs to play it. Lake Jovita in Tampa just as nice. If you just want to hear the surf then you can take your chances. I'd drive 30 minutes north and play Tpc sawgrass for the same price.
great golf experience
Had a marvelous day of golf at this facility. Fortunately I played on a GolfNow reward otherwise the green fee rate was pricey but unlike some of the other high end golf courses in the region this one was worth the cost. Everything about the golf course was first rate from the driving range, practice facility and golf course lay out.
A must Play
Great course in excellent condition
very challenging
a must play
perfect shape - have the course to yourself!
I played this course for the first time and wish I could play it every weekend. It's in perfect shape and you will more than likely have the course to yourself as we did. This works well as you can take your time and experience the spectacular scenery.
This course is a definite top 5 and is extremely challenging. Make the trip, it's well worth it!
Spectacular Course and Wonderful Resort
I have had the privilege of playing this course multiple times and it ranks in my top 3, easily. The 18th hole is beautiful and runs right along the ocean. The resort overlooks the 18th which offers even greater views.
If you do play the course, I highly recommend staying at the resort and getting the full experience as they make a perfect golf/vacation getaway.
Also...don't forget about The conservatory!
Happy Golfer
The day before playing the Hammock Beach Conservatory course, I played the better known Hammock Beach Ocean course. I found the Conservatory course to be more challenging and fun to play. It is a hidden gem, and is beautifully maintained. It is a must play if you are visiting Northeast Florida.
A hidden gem!
This course is well hidden but don't let it pass you by. It's a must for all levels but for you single-digit handicappers such s myself, do it! The staff was very considerate and ranger well mannered, asking others to let me play through. I will definitely play this course in the future and would recommend this over the Ocean course.
A Must Play Course
The course and greens were in excellent condition. You could not ask for a more scenic golf course it was just beautiful. After a 40 min delay at the tee we never saw another group
Great course, tough wind conditions on the ocean
The weather was very nice, but wind was blowing about 15-20, made course very difficult. Course conditions were good not great, in process of over seeding when we played. But with several holes right on the Atlantic made for great setting!
Great course but not a links!
We got a good deal to play to course, fortunately! Otherwise we would have felt that we paid too much compared to what you get at other courses.
We were treated very well, nice staff! The course design is very nice, lot's of water but it's fair to play even for beginners. The course was in great conditions, greens were fast, fairways very well maintained. The course is along the ocean but not at all of the six ocean-holes offer ocean-feeling or views. The course flows thru various neighborhoods what we don't like that much. Compared to the Ocean course the conservatory at Hammock Beach offers much more remotness and a "being in the nature" feeling. Again, the ocean course is nice but there's better ones for the value.
Stunning, one of the best courses on earth!
This is by far the best course i've played so far and probably one of the best courses you can play on this planet.
Staff was extremly welcoming and helpful, we felt treated like being members. There's no single hole which isn't thrilling, the design is just outstanding and fantastic. There's just two houses on the course, which gives a great feeling to be out in mother nature. A lot of water and 140 bunkers but it's fair as long as you can hit straight. We'll play the course again tomorrow since it's just so nice.
We like that course much better than the Ocean at Hammock, which is nice but not even close to the Conservatory.
VERY UPSCALE,BUT HARDLY "THE PEBBLE BEACH OF THE EAST"
HAD SEVERAL GLIMPSES OF THE OCEAN BUT NEVER SAW THE BEACH (EXCEPT THOSE GAURDING MOST OF THE GREENS). SPEAKING OF TRAPS, I EXPIERENCED FIRST-HAND SEVERAL DIFFERENT CONSISTANCIES OF FILLERS,i.e. CRUSHED SEASHELL, SUGAR-WHITE,& LOOSE BROWN SOIL. ALL-IN-ALL A VERY NICE COURSE.
One of top two courses in Palm Coast area that you can play.
Pristine conditions, great views, fast greens that roll true, very friendly staff with a starter who will try to make your experience a good one. Highly recommend play any time that you have a chance as this opportunity only lasts a short time.
Sometimes, a golf course is just really, really difficult
Rare are my visits to Palm Coast, so after taking the opportunity to play the Ocean Course at Hammock Beach over a year or so ago, I had never forgotten to keep Hammock Beach's other gem on my radar. Conservatory is another Watson design, which tells you there are bunkers everywhere...and many of the waste variety double as cart paths. This course plays long, plays hard and flat out ate me alive. Granted, I played in a steady rain and dealt with two-club winds, but I'm not using Mother Nature as any excuse. If you follow golf, you know the Black Course at Bethpage in New York actually posts warnings about its difficulty. Well, there's no such sign at Conservatory...so I'm warning you. This course is not for the average golfer and would probably bring many accomplished players to their knees. Biggest reason? There simply aren't many misses out there when hitting approach shots and, with the added length, you're now hitting hybrids and longer irons making it even tougher to stick it. Even well-struck tee shots can be gobbled up by deep bunkers, yet you cannot really pull anything but driver on all the Par 4's and Par 5's. Conservatory just eclipsed Tiburon Black as the toughest course I've played in the state of Florida. Good luck.
EYE-CANDY
Visually stunning. Avoiding all the hazards offers a reward on nearly every shot. Glad there was very little wind on day I played. Also found the staff very helpful & exceptionally friendly.
If you want Ocean views go up to Amelia Isl. and play Omni-Ocean. The golf course stinks but the views are spectacular.
