First Time Played
I went as a single and the 3 folks I joined couldn’t have nicer. We all played the Blues and the 6200 length was very fair. It was windy and some par 4’s weren’t’ reachable in 2. I’m not sure that really mattered but it’s a nice excuse 😂 . I never played Raptor Bay but as I was told this is a totally different course. Most of the holes had minimal blind shots with the exception of a few dog legs. There were a few tight landings but all in all very fair. The greens were hard and didn’t hold shots so play short. The greens rolled great and putts were true. Pace of play was 3:50. Staff was very friendly and helpful. I’d definitely play it again!
Great golf course, great staff. The starter, Tony, was extremely helpful and courteous and quickly found me another twosome to join when the threesome I was originally paired with was a no show. The course is challenging, especially in the wind, but fair and the greens are fast and in pristine condition. I will definitely play this course again and highly recommend it to any golfers out there.
Excellent Course
Salt leaf preserve is in amazing condition. One of Sw Florida's finest. A course is only as good as its staff and this club has the best!
Over priced
The course wasn't that bad no sand traps. Layout wasn't bad but the price is off the charts. There was nobody on the course because the how much it cost
Won't play again unless the price comes down quite a bit.
Yikes!
Played Saltleaf, The "REVISED" Raptor Bay yesterday. Point of reference- Raptor Bay was an Audubon site. The environmental beauty, wildlife, and enjoyable golf course were astounding.
The new course has decimated the natural beauty , contour, and visual appeal of Raptor Bay. Despite the marketing, we saw 3 birds- 2 of which were crows.
The course is dull. There are no sand traps. The greens are fast and true, But won't hold an approach shot. On the day we played, 15 mph winds, the pins were tucked in places that one could not access. Monotonous chips to elevated pins.
I understand that this is "new". It will take years for this course to look better, but the look will not improve the quality of the course. Very obvious that they are hoping that the impending high rise/ high cost development next door will generate a group of golfers willing to pay exorbitant fees to play a mediocre track.
Departing messages-(1) the destruction of the natural beauty and environmentally protected area is unconscionable. (2) I'm not unwilling to pay for quality golf. This is the priciest ticked in SW Fl, . Yikes!!
Salt Leaf: Good Course/ Priced too High
Was impressed with the new layout as I had previously played Raptor Bay and found out to my surprise that this layout was totally different.
Gave the course 5 stars as everything exceeded my expectations. Not very forgiving if you miss the fairways. Greens are excellent.
Priced too high to get me back unless they run some specials
Awesome course!
Immaculate new layout! Was challenging, yet playable. Love the sod walls!! Pace was great, 4some played in under 3:50!!!
Say no to Ray
I was very disappointed in the new Salt Leaf design by Ray Floyd. The course has no real character except stacked sod hills on the sides of a few fairways. The course has the most non discernible par threes, mostly just mounded greens. He could have used some of the stacked sod look around the greens. Not a bunker on the course. The 4th hole a par four is the worst, it has a 20 yard wide landing area unless you fly the ball 240 yards. The course has many parallel fairways, looks like they saved all the extra land for Realestate sales. The courses practice facility has only a small netted range with matts and no chipping area. Good luck if you are selling memberships.
