Saltleaf Golf Preserve - The Preserve

SL is a great course. Given that it was recently punched and thatched, it was still very playable; not to mention the discounted rate. While most courses in the area do 7 minute tee time intervals, SL does 10 minutes! This really helps for a good pace of play. Highly recommend the course. L

The course was in excellent condition from tee box to the greens. Great pace of play.

Wonderful course layout. Pace a play was very slow, we skipped two holes to get in front of two very slow groups. Ranger was nonexistent. The course is extremely dry and currently it’s the rainy season. This makes no sense. The greens were just OK and the fringe is nothing but sand. They need to get this course in tiptop shape if they expect to charge $349 around come late fall.

The course was easy to navigate, the cards had great digital technology, the Clubhouse offered great setting and delicious food, awesome service throughout our experience there.

Unfortunately the course condition didn’t match any of the above. The course needs to be closed and resodded. You expect a course with this reputation, location, adjoined with Ritz Carlton residence status, price, etc to be pristine. Well, it’s not. I hit more shots from patches of dirt than I did grass. And that’s from the tee through the middle of fairways.

And to warm up hitting into a giant net is not inspiring!

Found Saltleaf by accident last year while on vacation. I loved it. So when I came back down again this year I wanted to play it again. This time I took my daughter who is junior golfer. At check in everything looked the same as last year. Rates were the same and did apply a small discount for my daughter. Got our cart and headed to the starter. Starter was nice and was very personable. Got on the first tee and hit down the fairway. Didn’t know that would be a terrible spot to hit it. That is when the surprise came. Every fairway was in terrible shape. There was no grass and you were playing on dirt. There wasn’t any mention of the course conditions from the 5 different golf staff we talked too. It was very disappointing that this was never mentioned. I enjoyed the course so much last year that this may have not been a deterrent for me to play this year. Being supprised was a big let down.

I hear that it might go private in the near future. If able to play on it next year, I will give a 3rd shot.

I normally like salt leaf except for their ludicrous food and beverage prices (highest of any Lee or collier county course by far), but there was no warning about aerification of fairways and recovery conditions. Fairways were 80% burnt grass and dirt. Greens were ok. Would not play here for at least 2 weeks from now, terrible fairway conditions at the moment.

This is a very nice course. It was in excellent condition, and everyone was very nice. It is very much a traditional Florida golf course. There is very little elevation change, most of the challenge comes from water and bunkers. It's a fairly open layout that is fun to play. It feels like a resort golf course and that's not a bad thing. I felt it was a little overpriced for the middle of the summer, given all the other courses in the area you can play for almost half the price. As a resident of the area, I try to play it once a year. It is definitely one of the nicest public golf courses in the area.

Well maintained course. Terrific greens. Fairways well manicured as well. Staff very helpful! Pace of play very good! Wide variety of tee locations to fit anyone’s golf prowess!

Will return to play again.
