Tough course
Tough course, would’ve been better if temporary greens were not in effect. No clubhouse at the turn and never saw drink cart on the back 9. Glad we got the Tee Off rate, would never pay $130 for the course. Most redeeming quality is the staff, very friendly.
Temporary Greens
Don't even bother taking your putter out of the bag. This is basically target golf. You hit your ball onto the small, temporary green and pick it up. Fairways were in great shape
Call the pro shop before making a tee time
Used the GN app to set the time and a notice of aeration popped up from June. Figured that would be fine more than a month later. Turns out they have had issues with their greens and we’re playing to alternate greens on EVERY hole. Layout seemed cool, staff was great but to charger $80 for alternate greens seemed excessive.
Greens closed/range closed
When making the tee time we were not informed in any fashion that true greens were under significant repair - think they lost them. The price to play for the greens was a bit much. Had fun overall but poor information ahead of time from course on greens.
Temp greens are very rough to play on. Might as well just chip everything. Don’t bother bringing a putter. Other than that the course was good.
Price
For the price they should tell you that the greens aren’t being used. They built small greens with a big hole. They shouldn’t charge full price when you aren’t getting a true yardage.
Don’t go
Don’t waste your time or money. The cost is $80-$130 depending on the day. For that much you expect an amazing golf course. When I played every green was off limits for repair so every hole had a temporary green that was in the fairway about 30 yards in front of the green. The temporary greens are fairway grass and all about 15 feet wide. Too make it worst the hole on each green is a foot in diameter. Literally the hole is the size of a basketball. So you can’t really count any of your scores because it is a gimme every putt. For how bad it was you shouldn’t have to pay anything close to the green fees.
Don't waste your time nor money.
I was blown away at the cost of this course for the condition it was in.
1st off the website only says greens are aerated, that's a lie (temp greens). The host did mention it so I decided to play any way. My mistake/stupidity.
The temporary greens were a circle cut in the fairway about 20-30 yards short of the actual green, and about 10-20 foot in diameter, which was like putting on household carpet, and the cup was the size of a volleyball.
I am so embarrassed to even let someone know that I paid to play there. I hope for any future golfers research better than I did. Call ahead of time to verify what aerated greens actually means in there words. I even had a buddy tell me it was horrible but I guess I had to find out for myself, yes I learned the hard way..
Lesson learned for this guy.
Do not play 2022
Greens under work, they should close the course until those are playable again. Probably the worst temporary greens I have ever seen no yardage markers adjusted. Took out all the fun. Better go to driving range than paying 60-70 dollars for practice. Proshop offered to cancel my round at check in. Take the offer if you can.
Beware!
This corse was in terrible shape! I would have rather played in the parking lot. The greens and tee boxes were trash! The staff was very unfriendly and acted like we were disturbing them constantly. This corse has terrible management!!!
It’s not worth $20 much less what they are charging!!!
Nice course.
On the website they mentioned the temporary greens,: no surprises. Most of the original greens seemed in bad condition. But the course is nicely situated with view on the bay and a lot of vegetation. The fairways were perfect, so No complaints.
The course was great we just had to play on temp greens so we didn’t get the full course experience. Everything else about the course was exceptional.
Very poor greens
Every green was under repair. The new greens for all holes were about 30 yards from original…and in the fairway. 1st time playing this course. Was excited because I am a local, and was expecting a top notch course. Sadly disappointed. Sure wish I had known about the course condition before we paid. Probably won’t go back..not impressed.
Bay Point Golf
Did not know till arrival that they were using temporary greens on every hole. Reduced enjoyment of play. Guess that is why price was low.
Not What It Used To Be
Used to play this course when we lived in the area up to 3 years ago. First time back since leaving and was disappointed. Fungus had attacked greens, so we used "temporary" greens - nothing more than slightly lower mowed areas in the fairways. Putting was impossible. The overall condition of the course was less than when we used to play it. As to pace of play, a foursome two groups in front of us admitted to playing very infrequently and took a long time to get around. No marshals to watch for pace of play. Was not worth the price for this visit. The fact that it was very hot (can't be controlled, but just a note) just made things a little more unbearable. Wish it was like the "good old days".
