Can't go wrong here!
Great staff, nice practice area, challenging course and well maintained!
You will enjoy.
Slow play
the course was nice and we were off to a good start, but on the 6th hole we had to wait on EVERY SHOT for the rest of the round. There were two foursomes ahead of us (old guys) that played REAL SLOW!! WHERE IS THE RANGER??? There wasn't one!! For the amount we paid (even with the Golfnow hot deal), they should have had someone out there keeping it moving and letting us (a twosome) play through.
And we had a single hit in to us 3 times!! One hole, #15, I was on the right side looking for my ball and he hit up on to the green before I found mine! (we didn't finish the hole). Same thing the next hole!
It was a 5 hour round. That can be frustrating.
Nice course (a little over priced but nice).
Nice Florida Layout
I'd known of this course for years and had never made it up that way when in Jax. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and there is a very nice pro shop. Also, complimentary range balls. The course is extremely fair and, in my view, very straightforward for a Pete Dye course. The bunkers were very well maintained and the greens, while a little bumpy, rolled quite well and we made several putts. No real issues. Kind of an nice, older, Florida sand and water course with some nice views of the marshes. Definitely recommend.
Oak Marsh
Oak Marsh is a great course to play when you are feeling good about your game and you need a stiff dose of humility. For me, this is a fun course to play. Scenic, with mossy oaks overhanging the fairways. This was my fifth time playing it, and I think I am finally getting the hang of it. There are many places that you need to be on a certain side of the fairway to have a shot at the green. Course seemed to be in below average shape. Like we are in-between growing seasons. Will probably be better in a month. We went off the first tee more than 30 minutes after the previous group. So it was like we had the place to ourselves. Staff is excellent, and you really feel taken care of. It's a good change of pace course to go play near Jacksonville.
Nice resort course
Nice practice area. Very good layout. Conditions were good. Greens rolled well. Not the fastest but fairly smooth. Definitely worth playing.
Great possibilities, But!!!
Good layout but the greens were terrible....absolutely horrible!
Allen
Course was in better condition than the recent reviews had insinuated. It was a bit rough around the edges and the greens had recently been top-dressed with sand but they rolled true. Coming out of cooler months I thought the grass was in acceptable shape and I am sure once the weather gets hot the Bermuda will grow in well for the summer season. Was an overall shorter layout but like any Pete Dye course it was about angles and your approaches to the green that mattered the most. Staying at the Omni it was convenient and I would play again.
All round Great!
What a fantastic layout. So many great golf holes that look fabulous to the eye. Conditions were great on the fairways, and the Greens were quick and true. The closing stretch of holes are a fantastic challenge running alongside the Marsh. Quite expensive but I have to say worth the money compared to some others.
The food in the clubhouse was good and all the staff couldn't have been more friendly/helpful. Thank you.
Used to be better.
I’ve play this course for 10 years. 0 handicap. The course is still nice but it’s nowhere how it used to be. They charge more money and the greens have become worse. Some of the tee boxes are hairy especially on par 3s. Since the management went to Amelia River and took most personnel with them, AR has gotten so much better and OM has went down. A lot of greens are bumpy with spots of other grass growing. Didn’t used to be like this. But since it’s a resort, they can still charge high prices and people will still play it. Very disappointing. They should at least bring back the FL/GA resident discount.
