About PGA National Resort & Spa
Golf fans know PGA National particularly for the Champion Course, the extremely challenging host of the PGA Tour's Honda Classic. But PGA National has far more to offer, too: four other, tamer golf courses plus an ever-improving lodging and dining complement, including the excellent Ironwood Steakhouse just off the resort's main lobby.Facts

Clever green contouring can go a long way toward amping up the intrigue of an individual hole. That's the case with the false front at The Palmer's 4th. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 12/29/2017

The uneven edging of this bunker at The Palmer's 8th is intentional and gives it a naturalistic look. Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 12/29/2017

Classic Resort Fare
The Fazio Course at PGA National is classic resort fare. It was in good shape, the weather was beautiful and the pace of play was good.
The course is not overly difficult. There is water on a number of holes, but it's not overwhelming. The front nine twists and turns a lot so it could be easy to get in trouble with the many doglegs. The back nine is more gentle with the bends.
Be very careful with the drive on 18, there's water all the way up the left and basically no buffer between the fairway and the hazard.
Over priced
These courses are over priced for the quality of play. Even with the discounts there are better courses available to Florida golfers than these.
The layout is good for all types of golfers. We were paired with long hitters and were able to be competitive due to course management.
If you are staying at the facility it is nice to walk outside and have 3 courses available.
Tour worthy and difficult
I've watched golf at this venue for years, from the PGA Seniors Championship to the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour and watched it evolve. It's a tough test, to be sure, even beyond the famous Bear Trap, but it's also pretty fair, especially if it's not too windy. Add that wind, though, and you've got all the course you can handle.
Not worth the $$
I've played a lot of good courses but the Palmer course left much to be desired. The greens were slow and the course was worth about a $60 round.
Had the Entire course to myself.
I t was fun playing the course without seeing anyone else except a marshall once. One of the Par 3 was a complete construction mess. Greens were ok Fairways were really nice. Fun course must be accurate with irons 150 out as that were i found myself most of the time driving from the tips.
This where the pros play the Honda Classic. Very challenging!
Overall My friends and I had a wonderful time. I was surprised, some of the course was worn down. Maybe from all the summer play. I expected more, because this where they play the Honda Classic.
This is a very challenging course, with strategically placed sand traps and undulating greens. Worth the experience. Thanks Golfnow!
The Champion course is under repair.
We played mid-October 2013 and were surprised that so many holes had grounds under repair. Several bunkers were devoid of sand and newly sodded areas were marked out of play and roped off throughout the course. Hole 13 was unplayable with cranes and construction crews working in the fairways and around the greens. The bunkers on hole 14 were mud pits.
Great Course but Under Repair and Slow Play
The Champion course is one of my favorites and unless you have a membership or stay at the hotel, you can't plat this course. We were thrilled to find the course on Golf Now. The price was excellent relative to even the hotel up charge.
The negative is that the course is redoing traps and especially on the back nine there is a lot of GUR. The greens are in good shape.
As usual at PGA National, the play is slow. Course didn't seem to be marshaled in the pm when we played and we got backed up. Pga should ensure that they match people up. Shouldn't allow singles or twosomes out if they can be matched up at the first tee.
Nice course but way over priced!!!
Played the Palmer layout. Course was in very good condition with the fairways being the best we have played this year. Over all it was a greats experience to do once but even with the GolfNow rates, not something I would do more than once a year.
