Still Enjoyable

Played during vacation with the temporary greens. If you go in knowing the course conditions, it still can be a fun and challenging course. Not very busy at all, threesome played in just under 3 hours. Every staff member we met were friendly and courteous. Will definitely play again when we're back in the area.

Good Under Current Conditions

The staff at this course has communicated that there are temporary greens in nearly every way that they can. If you are not aware of this before you play, that’s your fault, you are not paying attention.

With that out of the way, the course is a great layout, a couple of brutal holes, but a lot of fun. The staff was outstanding at every turn and went above and beyond to accommodate us.

Yes, the temporary greens are not ideal. But when this course comes back, it will be a blast. In the meantime, play it anyway, and work on that long game. Have a chat with the cart girl, who is incredible.

Awful Experience

Let me start by saying everyone in the club house to the starter was wonderful. That said, we all should have been notified of the make shift greens. You should be embarrassed to allow us to not only play, but charge that price of the green fee. But to make this probably the worst golf experience I’ve ever had, was the pace of play. There were 6, yes 6 groups back behind a foursome on the back nine, and not only did the lovely cigar smoking ranger not do anything about the situation, he chose to harass a couple of teenagers instead of doing his job. Embarrassing.

Shame on you Baypoint golf course management.

Shame on you Baypoint golf course management.

Why? The course was advertised for $75 around with no indication whatsoever that all of the greens were under repair and that temporary greens were set up in the fairway with coffee cans sized flag holes. You were essentially putting on the fairway in front of each green. To pay full price at a weekend rate and have those conditions and not be told ahead of time until you’re reaching the starter at the first hole… And he casually says “did anyone tell you that we don’t have access to the greens when you paid at the counter?”

Don’t get me wrong, if the greens were in playable shape this is a beautiful, challenging course and well-maintained. It just didn’t sit well with me as a patron to not be told on the website when signing up for a teatime the greens are under repair. There are lots of golf courses to play along the panhandle coast. We chose this one and we’re disappointed in the staff and management for their poor customer service.

Bay Point is coming back

If you haven’t heard, Nicklaus currently has temporary greens. I saw it noted by GolfNow when booking and saw the big red sign on the counter at check in. It’s also noted in every comment for the last 2 months. Unfortunately it’s a process the course has to go thru to get it back to playing shape but I’m confident they will get there. Overall this is still the best course in Bay County. I paid $60 for a mid-day weekend round which I thought was reasonable given this course is normally $120ish. If you pay attention and realize they have temporary greens, then it is what it is. Just move back a tee box and take the two putt. It sounds like the greens will reopen towards the end of the summer so I look forward to playing here again.

Only thing I have to say is that I wish it was mentioned that we'd be playing on temporary greens when we booked the tee time.

Disappointed in Golf Now and course

This course was open without the actual greens open. They had “temporary greens” cut in the fairway. The staff was nice but this was horrible. No way we should have had to pay $60 to play here. Very disappointing!

Greens closed

Greens were lost or being redone. Either way we were not informed when making the tee time. Great layout but greens are far from coming in

Tough course

Tough course, would’ve been better if temporary greens were not in effect. No clubhouse at the turn and never saw drink cart on the back 9. Glad we got the Tee Off rate, would never pay $130 for the course. Most redeeming quality is the staff, very friendly.

Temporary Greens

Don't even bother taking your putter out of the bag. This is basically target golf. You hit your ball onto the small, temporary green and pick it up. Fairways were in great shape

Call the pro shop before making a tee time

Used the GN app to set the time and a notice of aeration popped up from June. Figured that would be fine more than a month later. Turns out they have had issues with their greens and we’re playing to alternate greens on EVERY hole. Layout seemed cool, staff was great but to charger $80 for alternate greens seemed excessive.

Greens closed/range closed

When making the tee time we were not informed in any fashion that true greens were under significant repair - think they lost them. The price to play for the greens was a bit much. Had fun overall but poor information ahead of time from course on greens.

Temp greens are very rough to play on. Might as well just chip everything. Don’t bother bringing a putter. Other than that the course was good.

Price

For the price they should tell you that the greens aren’t being used. They built small greens with a big hole. They shouldn’t charge full price when you aren’t getting a true yardage.

Don’t go

Don’t waste your time or money. The cost is $80-$130 depending on the day. For that much you expect an amazing golf course. When I played every green was off limits for repair so every hole had a temporary green that was in the fairway about 30 yards in front of the green. The temporary greens are fairway grass and all about 15 feet wide. Too make it worst the hole on each green is a foot in diameter. Literally the hole is the size of a basketball. So you can’t really count any of your scores because it is a gimme every putt. For how bad it was you shouldn’t have to pay anything close to the green fees.

Don't waste your time nor money.

I was blown away at the cost of this course for the condition it was in.

1st off the website only says greens are aerated, that's a lie (temp greens). The host did mention it so I decided to play any way. My mistake/stupidity.

The temporary greens were a circle cut in the fairway about 20-30 yards short of the actual green, and about 10-20 foot in diameter, which was like putting on household carpet, and the cup was the size of a volleyball.

I am so embarrassed to even let someone know that I paid to play there. I hope for any future golfers research better than I did. Call ahead of time to verify what aerated greens actually means in there words. I even had a buddy tell me it was horrible but I guess I had to find out for myself, yes I learned the hard way..

Lesson learned for this guy.
