Alligator on course Photo submitted by u000004256901 on 12/25/2012
Nice short course, some greens not so good
Friendly staff. Nice layout, but short course even off the back Tees. Some greens aren't in good shape. Much traffic around noon, but good pace. Many animals and alligators.
Water!
Beautiful course and wildlife. A lot of water, need to be accurate and hit straight, or bring alot of balls!
Target Golf
Know your yardages, this is a short but challenging course with water on every hole. It's one of those courses that you'll play better the second time after you acquire the local knowledge on where to place your shots. You'll also have some alligators watching you play!
Difficult but beautiful
Very nice course. When you play this course first time, it is quite difficult, because orientation is more challenging and water hazards will steal your balls.
Wunderschöne Golfanlage
Vielen Dank Golfnow.
Wir haben mit 4 Personen zum ersten Mal The Dunes gespielt. Wunderschöne Golfanlage, alle Löcher sind um das Wasser gebaut, mittelschwer
Einige sehr grosse Aligator
Sehr nettes Personal.
Hat Spass gemacht.
Best on the Island.....but...
Expensive compared to other better courses in the area. Greens are so-so. 5500 yd from back tees par 70. Due to trying to get this course on a small piece of land, players are hitting into your tees that are just off the greens you just played. Lots of outings from the hotels around and "vacation" golfers slow the play in Jan-March season. Plus, the traffic is so bad you need to add an extra 1/2 hour travel time to sit in line and $6.00 bridge toll to get here. If you're already on Sanibel Island, and can get a deal to play it, then do so. But don't go out of your way to play here.
greens
the practice green was magnificent-the greens on the course were too small-no bite when hitting irons at the pin and the grass appeared to have been diseased in areas-nice gators-saw two
Lots of Water!
Wanted to play while vacationing on Sanibel. Course is short for women with water, water everywhere! Somehow we found a reduced rate on your site as I would have been very unhappy paying $130/person. Surprised that there are no locker rooms where you can change clothes/shoes. Overall it was a great afternoon.
Dunes
Lots of water bring plenty of balls
Need to add more yardage markers
Staff was great
Best course on Sanibel Island
Just like last year the stall was friendly and the course was in excellent condition. Bring plenty of balls or grab some extras at the clubhouse. Use your "smart clubs" rather than your "tin cup" set and you'll leave with some balls still in your bag. Play hero here and you'll be feeding the gators! Enjoy a great round on a great course.
Very pretty course, lots of water and lots birds!
This very pretty course was fully booked when we played, but we started right on time and finished in just over four hours. There's water everywhere, some tight lies and lots of beautiful birds on almost every hole. The back nine is a bit more spacious, with fewer houses and an even more "natural" feeling. The clubhouse restaurant has limited evening hours, so check before teeing off if you're thinking of grabbing a quick drink or bite to eat after your round. This is a pricey round of golf, even with the Golf Now discount; but all three of us were glad to have played it.
Course is overpriced
Course is very, very short. Water aplenty, but not punitive. Greens have lots of slope. If you're not under the hole, likely three putt. The condition of the course and its shortness make it very overpriced..
Play this course while vacationing on Sanibel Island!
The Dunes golf course is a must for golfers visiting Sanibel Island. Bring plenty of balls as water comes into play on a majority of the holes.
Not a bad Experience
Course is very playable but feels extremely cramped, architect should've given himself more land to work with. The middle holes on the back 9 are nice, lots of wildlife, very alive.
nice course on sanibel island with a lot of water and great nature
Challaging course for men, for ladies a bit too easy especially for long hitters. Card with on board GPS in the cart for easy review of distances and course lay up. Lot of nature around. Greens have been fast and moderate.
Loved the course, play from the tips for a great challenge.
Loved the course, play from the tips if you want a great challenge since it's not a real long course. Staff was very friendly and welcoming. We were on vacation in the Tampa area and made the drive to play. It was our favorite non-private course in the area. Beautiful scenery, cart, GPS, service all top rate!
A tight front nine, loads of water a great test of golf
A great challenge of golf on a very windy day, at times gusting over 25mph. The course was on the whole in excellent condition, however some of the greens were starting to show their under belly, plenty of spike marks by uncaring players up front . But overall my two playing partners and I enjoyed the round , the kindness, attentive staff and will certainly return again.
Great experience, a lot of water!
It's more a lake than a golf course :-) ! But overall it is very women friendly - for male players it is very challenging and can be ball consuming! We saw 2 alligators! Although the yardage seems to be short, it is not a course that is easy to play.
Other than that, being used to European courses, I wouldn't really need an E-cart for the first nine, because at the end of a green starts the next T-box. Unfortunately, the clubhouse closed at 2 pm (summer schedule).
Th
The course was in good shape considering the time of year and the amount of rain it has received. A little muddy at first but dried out as the round progressed. Some holes difficult to see any direction of the fairway from the black tees. All in all, one of the best we played in the Naples/Ft Myers area.
Tight water lined course
Being from a rather arid region, this course provided a challenge due to all the water hazards. Of course, the hazards wouldn't be such a problem if I could hit it straight. If you can't, you need to bring a lot of balls as you will lose them. Fun track and the back nine is very pretty where it runs along the lagoon. Course was well maintained and the staff was friendly. Club house looked nice too!
