Would not recommend
Fairways were atocios, huge patches and muddy areas. Greens were pretty bad with sand in the middle of green on some holes. You have to pay $20 just to park. As far as value goes worst value in Atlanta. $70 to play and $20 to park. $90 to play a $40 course. Would not recommend.
Needs some work
The traps were not in great condition. It's been 25+ years since I played stone mountain. The upkeep has definitely gone downhill. I remember this course being kept much nicer than it is now. We have had an abundance of rain so I'm chalking it up to that and will be back as I enjoyed the round.
Tough greens
If you play Stone Mountain play Stonemont. Lakemont is good but the rains made the course challenging. Good course layout, nice pace of play for a Friday morning.
Bad shape
The course was in terrible shape. The greens and fairways had so many issues with it. Additionally, seems like a major drainage issue. So many spots on the course where you stepped in and were engulfed by mud. The price is outrageous for the conditions of the course
Poorly maintained, but lots of potential
Course layout is really cool with lots of variety and challenges, but the course was a mess at perhaps the peak of the season. Mud in nearly every fairway, greens diseased, and every tee box was a complete mess…like no grass at all. For this price point and for the fantastic design, it’s pretty sad. Also…be prepared to pay $20 to enter the Stone Mountain State Park…it’s not included in your green fee…making it even less of a value.
Average course, decent maintenance
Enjoyed playing given the nice weather. Greens ran true and fairways were in decent shape. Starter was friendly. Did we see a Marshall helping with pace, no. 5 hr round at 8:15am. Only saw beverage girl once and it’s difficult to get refreshments at turn given clubhouse is 10 min drive from 9th and 10th hole on Stonemont. There are better places to play for $100 but it’s a fun course close to the city.
Worst Value in Atlanta. Over $100 for awful/bumpy greens, dirt fairways, and sloping tee boxes.
Worst value for your money in the greater Atlanta area. Over $100 to go play a cow pasture. Greens in HORRIBLE condition... several of which had LITERAL bunkers on them... like 3x2ft holes filled with sand. Tee boxes and fairways in terrible condition... dirt lies all over the place. To charge over $100 (+$20 just to get your car on property) is highway robbery. 0/10 will never be back.
Great Staff!
The staff was awesome from bag drop off to the check in process to the starter! Everyone was great! The course was a little sloshy. Due to the rain. Pace of play was really fast and we were able to tee off early! Thank you Stone Mountain!
Surprise Stone Mountain
A lot of the green fees are very high while the greens are not in so great of conditions. I must admit Stone Mountain's greens are in perfect condition. The course layout is great; pace of play was excellent and good value for the money. I was very impressed with my visit to Stone Mountain, course is in great condition, and I will definitely return for another round with friends.
Overpriced. Local municipal courses are in better shape. Has been this way for two years now.
Not with the $100 round. Gate is $20 entry fee then you pay $89 for the round. I would put this on the “$40 all in value” list of courses. Greens were slow, unkept and unplayable at times. Fairways were rough, lots of missing grass. Some tee boxes were nonexistant. I’d play it again if it was priced the same way the local municipal courses are, but until something changes (price or conditions) I won’t be back.
