Good time
It was a cold windy day when we played. We followed a foursome and did wait occasionally but not long. The course was wet from recent rain so carts on paths only which made for a lot of walking. This is a beautiful course. Vistas are magnificent. Front nine is fairly open and requires choosing shots. The back nine is more difficult. Because of rain many fairways were difficult to walk on and waders would have helped. Perhaps the other course on Stone Mountain would be better.
Mid Week Golf
I work close by and I use weekday afternoons for practice time. The low number of players on weekdays in late afternoon is perfect for practice time.
Golf at Stone Mountain Stonemont Course
This course is excellent for the golfer looking for a bit of a challenge. Scoring a par on one of the holes on this course is a real par. There are no 100 or 120 yard par 3’s if you catch my drift. The par 5’s are true par 5’s, and you need two perfect long shots to reach any of them. Lots of par4’s are 400 yard plus, so it is not like most golf courses... where you never use a mid or long iron. If there is a negative at all: I find it sad that one has to pay the park entrance fee, when all one does is playing golf. People playing golf should get the entry fee waved.
Tuesday at Lakemont
Staff was friendly and professional, course played quick with no waiting. There was no water on the entire course, every station was dry. No beverage cart either...disappointing! We wanted to have a beer after the round and the entire clubhouse was closed at 4:30pm...ouch!
Very disappointed
Waited to play 3 days after rain and the course was mud. True it is winter conditions but there is poor drainage since it is built on rock. Course layout was not exciting and to add insult to injury you need to pay a $15 dollar entrance fee to Stone Mountain Park. Much better courses around for better value.
Most scenic course in Atlanta
This course is absolutely stunning to the eye. I'd give it 5/5 if the greens were in a little better shape.
First time played
Enjoyed course even though conditions were wet due to heavy rains the night before. I didn’t appreciate getting charged $15 just to get through the gate to get to the course.
GREAT FRONT 9...AVERAGE BACK 9
The front 9 has some of the most beautiful scenery with Stone Mountain in the backdrop, water and beautiful views. The back nine however, lacked the views of the front, but that didn't mean a lack of challenges. One par 5 was straight as an arrow 504 yards and had a wind tunnel blowing in my face the entire hole. Took a drive, 2 5 woods, and a 5 iron just to get it to a pitch-able area! But I ended up shooting 3 or 4 over, the greens are in decent condition, definitely seen worse on a golf course, but the rolls are for the most part true and I will definitely be back.
The only negative is having to pay the park fees or have an annual membership just to be able to pay to play the course.
Great course
I have played this course now for several years and always enjoy the challenge.
Course in good condition for winter play. Great staff!!!
Winter play
Happened to catch a break in the winter weather and found a round for one player for $25 on a course that usually charges much more. The course co sit-up. Was in unusually good shape considering we just had sub-freezing temps the entire week before. The greens were nice and the staff was fantastic as usual.
Will definitely be back, maybe see how Lakemont is doing. Both courses should not be missed. The surrounding views of Stone Mountain and the lakes are beautiful.
Arctic Golf
Wind chill didn’t dissuade us from experiencing Stone Mountain Golf
$15 park "parking" fee
A nice layout with nice greens, but pace of play is sometimes can be very awful and the $15 park fee just to get inside the park gates on top of your greens fee, make this playing here not really a great value
WOW
Worst green I have played all year , and $15 dollars parking , no thanks not woth it . There other courses for less and in better up keep around here (southland) . Definitely no resort by all means .
Renovation
I played at Lakemont
Green is best and everything is great
Needs some updates
For $50 they need to update the golf carts. They need to add the GPS system in the carts. Some of the greens have crab grass growing in them.
