Hard Labor Creek
Great course! This is a short course that requires shot shapes and strategy. Bombers are not at an advantage as the par 5's are reachable and par 4's are rarely over 375 yards. The elevation changes, sloping fairways, bunkers and length of the course make it a great place to spend a day.
Interesting layout
Do not pass uo this course, leave your driver at home and think smart fairways. Course layout is challenging. Play moved along with the Ranger watching each hole. Staff was excellent....however long drive 50 miles one way wish it could be closer in to Atlanta.
this course has a great layout
beautiful course out in the middle of a forest. scenic but can be difficult, greens were too hard but smooth.
This course was like a walk in the park.
Tree lined fairways and rolling terrain made this a very relaxing experience.
Love the layout!
This is just a beautiful layout , and really is a great golf course. It's early now, and the greens are in rough shape, with number 4 appearing dead.
When the grass starts to grow a bit more, take a ride out and enjoy this course!
Tough course
This is a very tough course. The staff was incredibly friendly. The greens are fast and in good condition. The tee boxes are in bad shape and the fairways are ok
Poor value for the money
This was the first time I played this course. For what I paid I feel that I didn't get a very good deal. Ball washers with no water in them, ball washers that were broken, bath rooms on the course were out of order. Bought four beers and they gave me no ice in cooler. Staff were friendly and assured me that my complaints would be sent higher up.
Golf Beauty
First visit but not my last, what a great layout, and the surroundings as well as the course are awesome.
Makes you think
This course will make you think about what club you should pull out of the bag. I had friends come in from Louisiana and they were very impressed with the course and facilities. The course present many challenges and keeps you on your game.
Golfing outing
Tee boxes were in horrible shape. Fairways were in pretty good condition. The greens were not in very good condition which making a true putt difficult
Ok course if you can find it
Played on 3/31/2014 after spending 30 minutes driving around looking for the address. The address on the site will lead you to a home with no golf course in sight I know the owner of that house is very irritated. Once we made it to the course (about 5 miles from the address on the website ) it was a nice quiet course with lots of wildlife (beware of the snakes we saw several crossing the cartpath or near our ball in the wood line). Course conditions were good the fairways were cut a little low for my preference but it was minor. The greens were pretty fast and looked as if they were recently aerated but were good. If you live on the eastside it's worth playing at least once.
short greens and fairdways (hard)
Greens short and very hard. Greens slightly elevated and could not run ball up onto greens. If you hit the greens with anything other than a wedge, it went off the back.
A bad weather day
Weather forecast did not cooperate with our playing plans. Only finished 9 holes due to rain. Greens were just sanded making it impossible to stop the ball whether pitching or putting. Pin placements were impossible given the sanded condition of the greens. A challenging course even under perfect circumstances.
A bit wet still
Hard Labor has become an annual trek for us at least 2 or 3 times a year...the price is right, the golf course rarely disappoints making this well worth the hour drive out there.
If you've never played it...it's typical tree lined north GA course with lots of elevation change. Not long by today's standard, fairly tight, unless you're a 10 index or better you might have more fun from the white tees. The biggest challenge of the course for bogey and better golfers will be the greens. Stay below the pin at all costs.
Conditions were not bad, carts were on the course, but several holes were still damp in the drain off areas...greens were not at their peak speed but rolled smooth and and playable.
Nice course, but some negatives
This was the first time I've ever been to The Creek at Hard Labor. It was a very fast paced course because we were the first people on the tee box. It was a nice course, but the only negative about it was that it was VERY MUDDY. Other then that it was a nice experience.
A good day
Middle of winter, and many in the country covered in snow. But here in Ga 70 degrees and day on golf course, is a beautiful day. All the tee boxes were in great shape, due to the previous rain and freak ice the fairways were a bit soggy, but playable and overall good for winter play. The greens were in good shape as well. The best part was the genuine friendliness of the staff and the welcome feeling they gave to all guest. Keep up the good work.
Good course to play
One of the best public courses to play. I will go back and play again when the fairways are not dormant. The fairways were pretty muddy. Overall it is a great course. You need to be at a certain skill level or you will lose many balls.
Great course to visit
Although the course was empty (which made pace of play great!), this place will definitely get a return visit from me. Excellent for all level of golfers, this place is offers great golf, scenic views, and an escape from the normal packed country club. Visit and enjoy!
Double booked our tee time
They double booked our 12:20 tee time. The other group got in line before us. While waiting on the 2 groups lined up on the first tee, the starter put a twosome in front of us. One of them told us to go ahead and tee off before them because they were beginners and played slow. When we got to the 1st tee, the starter made the twosome come up and go first. 40 minutes late teeing off and a 5+ hour round of golf, we barely finished before dark and the pro shop was already closed. We won't be going back.
Good layout. Well maintained.
Very enjoyable round. My first time at a state park course. Obviously some effort put into maintenance but on a limited budget. Gas powered carts were old.
