Amazing greens
Last year at this time were spotty. Now they are green and plush.
However they are reducing size of greens. Short term okay but they really need to cut them original size.
Nice course for a reasonable price
If you are a "pro" then you may not consider this a nice course but for the average weekend golfer it sets up really good. It's just the right amount of difficult but still not overwhelmingly tough. When we arrived we were told the course was very busy and expect the pace of play to be slow but that didn't prove out to be correct. We didn't have to wait to tee off on any of the 18 holes and even though there were others playing we were never right up on anyone and no one was right up on us. We had a great afternoon here.
Greens were awesome
Have played this course dozens of times and this is the best condition the greeens have ever been in (for this time of the year), Kudos to the maintenance staff.
Fairway?
Fairways were more like rough. Cool views but you’re in the middle of nowhere, hard to find the course. I liked the privacy though. Would only play this again if the fairways were better
October 2025 finds this course to be in the best shape ever! Congrats to Jody and all the staff.
Great course close to campground
Third time playing here. Great course at a reasonable price, and close to our campground in the state park.
Decent
Course is in decent shape. Fairways are hard to distinguish from the rough on a lot of holes they just kinda run together. Driving range is in desperate need of attention, all weeds and in very rough shape. Greens were puttable but very slow and had lots of debris. Got a hot deal for $20 so it was worth the money. Would have been highly disappointed if I paid the normal rate.
Lake Blackshear worth the trip!
Enjoyed the course. Greens have come back well since the first of the year. Pace was very fast, fun time!
Awful greens
Don't waste your time or money. The greens ruined everything good about this course. Green maintenance has got to improve.
Terrible beyond belief....
The greens are gone! Fungus had eaten them up . None playable conditions on the greens. Fairways are ok along with the tee boxes. Played memorial weekend , Saturday afternoon. Place was basically deserted due to the conditions. Get the greens up and going and it would be an ok course. Such a shame and no mention of the conditions of the greens at the clubhouse. Wouldn't let me upload the green images.
Very nice course, but greens not good this time.
Hubby and I played two days in a row. Overall, it’s a great course, but at this time, the greens were pretty bad. Putts were not true due to large patches of dirt (no turf) and that was the overall consistency of all greens. I would love to play the course when greens are in good condition. (We have played far worse, but expected better from this course.)
Terrible greens
Tee boxes and fairways are good on most holes, but greens are the opposite. Very poor and putting on dirt most holes unless you were lucky enough to stick your approach shot to 3 feet. I played on a hot deal for $30 so I was fine but I wouldn’t pay the standard $50.
Greens are BAD
So much potential but the state needs to spend the money to get the greens back in shape. They were not great last year and then were ravaged after the week of snow in January. They are patching but they need to bring in specialists or even ask the colleges nearby that specialize in turf to help. The worst greens we have played on.
Hidden Gem
We loved our visit to this quiet and very well maintained course. Many greens in South GA have struggled because of a week of snow in January but this course looks fantastic. The bathrooms, water stations, benches all look brand new. We will be back soon.
