Good course
Course was in great condition and had nice layout. Rate of play was terrible. Quit after 13 holes and 4 hours. Front nine fairly easy. Back nine looked challenging but didn't get to experience much of it.
Gem of SSI
Amazing track in the interesting and beautiful marshlands of SSI. Course is very well maintained. Greens fast and true although a bit soft and damp. Nice heft to fairway grass allowing for quality shotmaking. Thanks for taking good care of the course. Compliments to the maintenance team. Can’t wait to play it again.
Very Nice Course and Atmosphere
Quite a nice course. The 4 holes on back nine through the marsh land were quite unique and fun. Course was in great shape!!!
Great Condition
Awesome course. Fun to play and the views are spectacular.
A Gem
Played this course probably 25 years ago. Was just as nice as i remember. Absolutely pristine.
One of my top ten courses I have ever played.
Beautiful!!
This course is awesome, can’t wait to come back and play again.
Spot on....
Tee to green well manicured. Great conditions everywhere. Score is all you, not the course. Quick greens.
Highly recommended
Ouse is great to play, always some wildlife to be seen
Best course on SSI for public play
My favorite course in Glynn County, GA. Just beautiful. Excellent layout.
Great time
Course is in excellent condition greens running smooth. Staff as friendly as you could imagine. Great crew there
Sweeeeeeet....
Never disappointed with K and P....Live in Savannah had a 1:44 tee time. Played 18 as a single got right off, had a twosome wave me through on 10 and then no hold ups. Course tee to green well manicured. Fast greens, smooth fairways and tee boxes lightly over seeded with rye grass. Perfect scoring conditions. Shot an 85 from 6300 yds... Great comfort station with cups, crushed ice and water. Didn't go in the clubhouse so not fair to really rate off course ammentities. 68 degrees and full sun. Awesome round and was home watching the election by 6pm. That's says it ALL.
King and Prince vs. Sea Palms
There are two main golf courses at St. Simons for the public to play: Sea Palms (SP) vs. King and Prince (KP). Below I compare and contract the two.
Cart: SP has a more comfortable cart by far. It includes a map of the hole locations. KP has a ball and club washer on the cart, but mine was muddy water. I doesn't seem like they changed the water. SP offers a towel in their card; KP does not.
Practice Range: For the price of these courses, they should give you free range balls. They don't. KP has a better facility which is near the clubhouse with a putting green, chipping green. The grass to hit range balls was below average (we found a few balls laying around and hit those) and doesn't replicate a lie in the fairway. SP range is a bit far away. The putting green is near the clubhouse at SP.
Tee Boxes: about the same for both courses
Fairways: about the same for both courses
Greens: Soft. Very soft. Very slow.
Signage: Neither course has maps of the holes on the scorecard or tee boxes.
Slope/Yardage: KP had a very nice combo of tees to choose from so that we could get the yardage and slope that we are used to. I would recommend that SP adjust their scorecard similarly. The yardage from the tips was a bit too far, but from the next one in, it was a bit low. I nice combination of these two would have been perfect.
Value: Paid $65 for SP and $80 at KP.
Course: KP had some lovely signature holes created within the marsh. SP was a great course as well. KP is located all the way on the north side of the island; SP is seems like it is right in the middle of town.
My recommendations: It would be really hard to walk KP due to the "marsh" holes. But I could easily see walking SP if I wanted to. For the money, the amenities and the proximity of course to where we were staying (East Beach), I would choose SP over KP.
Fun Course
We had a great round the day before so came back for another round before our vacation came to an end. Will hopefully be back!
