Beautiful views.
This course was beautiful to play. Long and tough for the wives but they enjoyed the view. A must play if you are on the island.
Poipu Bay Golf, Hawaii Golf at it’s Finest
This is one of the most beautiful courses that I’ve ever played. The maintenance and upkeep of the course is fantastic. The layout is challenging but fair. The trade winds often come into play as the course is located right on the ocean. Staff have always been very friendly, welcoming, and professional. I wouldn’t mind if the price to play wasn’t quite so high but this is golf in Hawaii where everything is pricy. I thoroughly enjoyed playing this course and play it a couple of times whenever we’re on Kauai. I’d recommend giving this course a try if you’re ever on Kauai.
Does not disappoint, golf and views are exceptional
Have played her a number of times, and love the course. Played in well under 4 hrs. Course in great shape. Nice carts, good GPS and very friendly staff. Love this place.
Poipu bay
One of the prettiest courses I ever played
Excellent condition
Staff not super friendly… tried to hit balls after my round wanted to charge an additional 50 bucks on top of 300
Spectacular views
Great Course and Experience
The course was in great shape, and the staff was very friendly and courteous. I’ll be playing it again before departing Kauai.
Course In Good Shape Despite Rain
I can see why this has been a Golf Digest Top 100 Public course. Starts off a little plain then builds to the more picturesque back nine. Decent elevation changes & plays differently each hole depending on the wind. Played in the afternoon after morning rain & no one ahead of me. Bunkers were raked & maintained and fairways had no burnt spots & I could count on good lies.
Greens were of average speed, stimp probably 9. But the maintenance crew can’t cut Seaside Paspalum too short & they probably want to keep them at resort speeds. There are some greens with some decent sloping & mounding to keep it interesting.
The practice range & greens were grass & very nicely kept.
I paid slightly reduced afternoon rate & it was worth it. Now that I’ve played both and for a benchmark, I would return to play here twice for cost of one round at Kapalua.
Golfing vacation
We have played golf all over the island it was by far one of the best experiences we had during our stay. I’m so happy we played it last or it be others would have probably been a let down
Not a bad course, but definitely not worth the money.
Would be a perfectly nice to play often for half the price. Bunkers were terrible. Staff seemed bored… not what you would expect for that kind of price. I feel badly I dropped so much dough on that experience.
Great Course, beautiful scenery, good greens
If there is a more beautiful course to play, I haven't found it. Had a great time.
Save your money
While I understand that they are undergoing an irrigation upgrade, it is not currently worth the top dollar price that they are charging. I knew that there would be one tempo hole due to work. They even called me the night before to make sure that I knew of this and knocked $10 off the price due to the ongoing work.
When I arrived the next day the pro shop again asked if I knew about the temp hole. He then went on to say that one of the other par 4s was playing a little shorter as well. It turned out that this other whole was shortened from approximately 420 yards to 130 yards. In my mind, this would constitute a second temp hole.
Before I even teed off, I went to the driving range. The starter was very nice, but said that they were limited to seven hitting locations. This meant that I may have to give up my spot to someone with an earlier tee time. As it turned out, that didn’t happen. But I rushed through the warm-up.
I had a flight to catch shortly after my round, so I wanted to take a shower. I was assured prior to playing that they had shower facilities. Once I got undressed I realized that there were no towels and two of the three showers had no soap.
This was meant to be a world class facility and a course on my bucket list. I appreciate the $10 discount, but that certainly didn’t make up for a poor experience.
Save your money and play Kiahula (sp) course instead. It’s about one mile away. It doesn’t have the views of the ocean. But the chorus was in very good condition. How much better Golf experience.
Currently Bad Shape For the Price
I was extremely disappointed in Poipu Bay after hearing so many good things about the course and scenery. The fairways were in bad shape due to irrigation work on most holes. There were only 17 holes available to play + one makeshift hole on the driving range and the greens were the slowest speed I have ever played on for a course of this caliber. Very disappointed. I would not consider playing until all work is completed or the green fee is less than $100
Fun and challenging, beautiful course
Course design was great and conditions as well. Back 9 is very scenic as a few holes are on the bay.
