Lots of challenges but with wide fairways.
This was the first course my husband and I played during our stay on the Big Island. The pace was brisk, but unhurried. The greens were a little humbling and made us work for a par! How can you not have a great time...you are golfing in one of the most beautiful places on earth! Tom and MaryEllen W.
Good deal
This is a nice course. It only has water on a few holes, but is fun to play. It was a very good deal.
It was a fair test for a high handicapper like me.
I had a great time on this course, it was difficult enough to make it interesting but not so much it wasn't fun. I would definitely play it again given the chance and would gladly recommend it. The greens were rather slow and had remnants of being aerated but didn't affect play much.
Fun course at great value with nice views
Played this course with my daughters (9 & 11yrs old) and had a great time. One note for junior golfers though - its only $20 for junior golfers to play here. Unfortunately, I had already booked our threesome thru Golf Now at the discounted adult prices, which was a lot more than the junior rate! A nice feature for Golf Now would be to allow booking for juniors or at least publish junior rates.
We finished in about 4 hours with lots of breaks to take pictures and enjoy the views - but note we set our own pace since only 2 or 3 other groups were on the course.
11 yr old and I played whites (6230yds) and 9 yr old played reds (5501yds). The tee setups were a good mix of easy and challenging and our only complaint was that the whites versus reds difficulty for any given hole wasn't consistent - eg. Reds were 40yds closer than whites for both a 500yd par 5 as well as a 170yd par 3.
Course conditions were good. Fairways consistent with no bare spots. Short forgiving rough. Smooth greens. Only negative is that small grained gravel is used for the bunkers instead of sand.
The staff was beyond super friendly and we will return on that fact alone! The lady in the pro shop gave the girls some SPAM musubi for lunch!
Overall a great experience!
Couples golf
My wife and I enjoyed playing here as it was not intimidating for her and yet challenging for me. A combination that is difficult to find. bring your own lunch!
Classic Robert Trent Jones
Course is very challenging and in good condition. Bunkers are large sand which can be a pain when putting as the pebbles get dusted on to the putting surface. Bring a broom. People are friendly and can't wait to play here again.
Course was fun to play
They punched the greens 3wks prior so putting was difficult. First hole par 5 is a great eagle hole. 18 was the signature hole and very challenging. Would play again after greens mellow out.
Awesome course
The course was well maintained, rental clubs were great.
Good course.
Good course kept in good shape. Rental clubs cost more then a round of golf and were very used.
Great views and vista
Very little ball run on the Kikuyu grass which was not mown short.
Enjoy the mountain views
It was nice to play this course when the wind wasn't howling and all the surrounding moutains were in view. The course is well maintained.
beautiful views of ocean and Mauna Kea.
The wind is always a factor on this course. Local knowlege and a range finder are helpful because of out of bounds and hazards
Nice casual experince, not pretentious
Good course layout, but facilities a little lacking since it's not a resort course
Outstanding course
Great, wide open course with subtle changes. Greens deceiving and quick. Like the course and staff so well we played it four times during our 9 day stay! Best rental clubs (taylormade rocketball) of any of the courses in the Kona area.
great for price and course
Wonderful course and in excellent shape. Very friendly staff. Got there late by about 10 min. Got put back about half hour so could hit a few practice ball in first before playing. Oceanview is great. But I went to play golf first.
new carts, well maintained and excellent greens.
loved every part of this course except the bunkers. they are fiilled with pea gravel!?.
The courses was great and fun to play, and a great value at the GolfNow.com "hot deal" pricing.

this is a fair and rewarding golf course
this is a golf course that is not one roll away from stealing your ball THis to me for the value is the best course in the area
Fairway grass is a new challenge but learnable...
Rough is a half a stroke easy....
Bunkers are different some small pebbles so a mixture of sand and pebbles.....shallow......hard.....
Nice course but very windy
A fun challenging course to play made more difficult due to high winds
Windy day, but had fun anyway!
We prepaid for this course and, as it turned out, had a pretty windy day. But, we were in Hawaii and playing golf on a sunny day with the temperature in the mid 70's. Why whine about 20+ mph winds? The course was in good condition, well maintained and looking very nice! The greens were quick, but not like lightening. The fairways were not chewed up and quite green. The rough was not US Open length, but you didn't want to play from it all day. The staff greeted us with smiles and were friendly all around. I have a friend that golfs once a year, when my wife & I come to visit. He had planned to play about half the round then just follow along. But, he enjoyed the course as much as we do, and played all 18 holes. He said it was a very fun course and looks forward to our next visit so he can play it again. We have fallen in love with the course and will probably make it one of our regular stops while on the Big Island!
