Another Fazio masterpiece

Though the Belterra Golf course is associated with a resort this is not a course for anyone who has a high handicap. It is a spectacular layout with great scenery but very few easy holes. The course is very undulated and the greens are built on plateaus or hills and thus add another degree of difficulty to the putting game. I place Belterra in the top 10 courses I have ever played and I have played a lot of great golf courses in the USA, Scotland (most all of The Open courses), Ireland, England and Spain.

First class experience

From the moment we arrived the staff went above and beyond. From the super friendly lady at the bag drop, to the very friendly and helpful gentlemen in the clubhouse, to the very informative and entertaining starter( he was very enjoyable to deal with which isn't always the case at some courses), all the way to the cart girl who was very efficient and made it around 4 times during the round to see if we needed anything. On to the course, it was very well maintained and quite challenging The rough is thick and penalizing as it should be and the greens and fairways are beautiful and very smooth. Practice range and putting greens are nice, complimentary bottles of water were a nice touch and the GPS units really are an awesome feature that make yardages effortless and really contribute to a better pace of play. Would 100 percent recommend this course

Got a smoking hot deal!

A friend and I scored a red hot deal on golfnow.com a few days before played. We went on a Sunday morning at 10:20. Pull up, dropped our bags and checked in. Bags were put on the cart for us, filled cooler with bottled waters and gave us a cold mango towel cool off with. Belterra has a proshop complete with locker rooms and golf accessories for purchase. They also have a free driving range to warm up on before you tee off. There is s bar and cart girl that came around often. Normally only see them once at the places I usually play. Overall great place to play. Even being so hot the grass was in great shape.

Great course...great service.

It was a brutally hot day so the play was slower than usual. However, the course was in beautiful condition, and we had an awesome round in their smooth carts with GPS keeping us on track. When we finished the staff was there to clean our clubs and greeted us with ice cold towels to cool off. Hope to play there again!

Not what I would consider resort golfing.

First time visiting this course and it wasn't too bad of a drive from Cincinnati. When we got there, the course looked great from afar and the cart guys were very friendly. We went to the driving range for 45mins, in that time only one group teed off in front of us and that was about 15mins before us. We played the first few holes with no problem, breezing around til we got to the 4th hole. From that point on, it was some of the slowest play we had played all year long. We had a two-some in front of us and in front of them, they had a 4some with 3 carts and 2 additional riders, for a total of 6 people. The pace of play was INCREDIBLY SLOW! This made the round very boring and quite frustrating.

We also were surprised for a "resort" course, the amount of unrepaired ball marks on the greens and in the fairways. On some of our approach shots into fairways, it was near impossible to avoid landing in a divot. Again for a Golfnow discount round it was okay, but I couldn't imagine paying $110 to golf there. The kicker of the whole day is when we tried to talk with the Director of Golf, we found out they close at 5PM. We got his email and sent a message that night. He left a voice mail for us the next day and said "Since you paid $40 and not $100, you should not have any issues". This was said by the Belterra Director of Golf. I realize we had the discount from GolfNow, but if we going to be seen as a 2nd class citizen at Belterra, I would hope GolfNow would think again about dealing with them in the future.

I don't see me playing here again for a course that claims to be a "resort course"

I had exactly the same experience - the resort staff treat you like a second class citizen when they find out you are a golfnow booking. Terrible attitude from the staff.

Very challenging holes on this course. Ball placement a must on several holes. Great to have the GPS on the cart as it helped out in club selection.

Holy Cow...

I've played some nice courses and outside of The Golf Course of Dublin and Muifield Village....this course is the best. The views were breathtaking and the course was in immaculate shape. I will definitely be taking full advantage of the deals here on GolfNow for this course. Staff was awesome. They even had ice cold towels after the round for us to keep after a brutally hot day (110 degree heat index). This course is also quite difficult from the tips. I shot a 78 and I am scratch. Their #1 handicap hole is the most difficult hole I have ever played, 470 into the wind into a very small fairway to a green protected by water and bunkers. I highly suggest this remarkable course. I can not wait to play again. Hopefully this week.

A true test of golf

This is a well designed Tom Fazio course. It has many very challenging holes and sprinkles in two or three holes that give you a break. There are no flat lies, no place for wayward tee shots and you do have to think about your approach angles. Needless to say, stay out of the rough unless you have Popeye forearms. The sand traps all play the same, the sand is consistent on every hole. You do not find that at every course. I will be back many times.

Great resort course and amenities

This course is one of the best conditioned public pay courses within an hour and a half drive of Lexington. After many days of rain it was still in pristine playing condition. A couple long par fours on each side increases the challenge factor but the wide landing areas are more than fair. Just a beautiful course.

Can't Beat the Golf Now Pricing!

Finally got to play Belterra and had a wonderful time. Booked on GolfNow for $40 and couldn't be happier. Great layout, fairways, and staff. It had rained for about 4 straight days so the rough was more like the US Open, so I would imagine next time it won't be that bad. The greens rolled very well besides some ball marks. Overall great experience and I will be back.

Great price for a Fazio course.

I would definately recommend this golf course for others to play, but for the level of golf course and the condition of the rest of the golf course, there were too many unrepaired ball marks on the greens. I know it is a public course and most of the public don't repair them, but the amount of play experienced at your course I feel they were still excessive.
