18th Signature Hole...Gorgeous Photo submitted by JCZents33 on 04/26/2013
Course layout
I love the layout. It fits my game. The green is large and nice.
I will recommend friends to play this course. I really like all par 3 holes and 18th hole is beautiful scenery.
Great in the Fall
For the time of year, the course was in overall great condition. Greens had obviously been aerated at some recent time and sanded but not fully grown back in, so puts didn't roll out as true. That is a normal expectation this time of year and didn't hinder the beauty of the course at all. She always plays long (as compared with other local venues) but provides lots of challenging holes with high risk/reward scenarios. Staff are always friendly and my only complaint is that there was nobody at the bag drop on arrival--I guess COVID times and all makes staffing more difficult.
Hole 18 is a stunner and a great way to finish a nice round. Our cart service was provided by a lovely young lady with great customer service. Just next time, please put Yuengling Lager on the cart! LOL
Will definitely play again but will take time at the tables for some cards for sure.
Needs some work
Was surprised how poorly taken care of this course is now. Basically all the bunkers are unplayable, bunch of tee boxes were just hacked up terribly. Slow 4.5 hr round on a Monday in Nov. Used to be a great track, layout is slick but needs some tlc not worth a nickle more then 50 bucks
Tough Course
The course as a whole has a great layout with some really good views. If you are looking for a beautiful course this is a great one. We played 3 courses on the trip and I would rank this one at the bottom of the list. Mainly because the greens did not roll that great (probably plugged within the last 3 weeks), the bunkers were unplayable, and it was cart path only. Other courses in the area that I highly recommend include Aston Oaks and Rising Star Links.
Cartpath only on a sunny 100° Day
Overall the course was in pretty good condition Bunkers could’ve been better manicured, nees more sand. On #3, black Matting was visible throughout the green side bunker. Watch out for some areas that are unplayable overgrown.
Nice day
Always enjoy playing this course. Hope they don’t price themselves out of the market
Always a challenge
Overall the course was in great shape. Fairways and greens were well maintained and rough was as tough as usual. Would have liked the starter or clubhouse staff to inform me the 18th green is under construction and not accessible. There's a "temporary" green set up about 40 yards short of the green with a flag inside a circle. Thanks to the reduced length and forgiving "green" I was able to walk away with my only birdie of the day : ).
Slow pace bunkers are awful
I have played belterra numerous times and it’s always a great challenge. 90% of the course was in great shape, however the bunkers were atrocious.
I understand some were under repair, but if you are paying 100+ for a course it needs to be under tip top shape. Only a few of the bunkers were playable.
Also the pace of play was terrible. It took the 2 of us 4:30 to play our round. Not always the courses fault but needs to be stated.
Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in awesome shape.
Coming to an end?
Professional staff, large pro shop with a great selection. Carts with Bluetooth and gps. My issues were some of the fairways had some type of pebble rock drainage system running through the middle of them. Some of the greens had patches on them, some were bare. Sand bunkers were a joke most under a tarp with hazardous cones. 9th/10th holes no where near clubhouse. I doubt any maintenance is being done. Factory in the rate and travel not sure this place will even be open in ten years. Just a shame.
Great course for Pros
This is one of the mos difficult courses we’ve ever played. It’s a beautiful and well maintained course with electric, GPS equipped golf carts. There was even a beverage cart but no liquor so my normal go-to transfusions were unavailable. They course is long and tight with lots of sand bunkers and water hazards. We were behind some members so the play was fast.
