Great Value for a Unique and Challenging Course

I scored a $19 prepaid tee time on Golf Now on a Thursday at 1:50. It was an excellent value for this course. To me the course setup was a little strange because some of the par 4s and 5s were very short and some of the par 3s were on the long side. I played from the blue tees which were the second longest. One of the par 3s played 215 to the middle and I think it was 235 from the tips. Overall the course was in great condition for a public course and offered a good challenge. The greens were on the fast side, but not overly difficult. I would definitely play this course again when I visit Lexington. My only complaint is there were no water coolers on the course and no beverage cart. Heat index was over 100 this day and I could not wait to hit the turn. Also, there is no driving range, but they did have a few nets set up that you could hit into.

Griffin gate still a good Lexington option

Hadn't played this course in many years. It's still in great shape and has a good balance of challenge and fairness. The pro shop staff was super friendly and helpful.

Challenging

Finally a course around Central Kentucky with sand in the bunkers instead of dirt! The layout of the course is challenging without being impossible. A few relatively tight holes to navigate, but other than that surprisingly open for where it is in town.

Had a great time

We enjoyed lunch at the grill and a couple stories about the "haunted" area of the original house. Began our round and found well-groomed traps and near perfect conditioned fairways and greens. The greens are really challenging and my experience is that I need to play them a couple more times to be able to read them better. Greens are very fair with subtle unjalations that were difficult to read. Overall a great experience and will return.

Gret Course

First time playing this course. A great challenging course. Fairways and greens in excellent condition. Loved the 12th hole long par 5 with a dog leg to the right. The 4th hole is a little deceiving par 3. Would recommend to play this course. I try to play about twice a week great challenging course for beginner.

Nice course

Very nice course! A rainy day but it held up well. My only issue was after the front nine they were basically out of menu items. Outside of that, I will golf here again.

Excellent course

Course was in great shape. Fairways were in nice shape and the greens putted fast and true. In had been a windy night before and there was some pine needles and other small stuff on the greens. Course has shorter par 5s and longer par 3. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Very good "resort" course

Played here for years and still really enjoy it. Served several years as a stop on the Senior PGA Tour. Course is located on a Marriott property with nice hotel and restaurants. Fun layout, good conditions, fast greens. Well worth playing and easy access by interstate from all directions.

Great Track

I play Griffin Gate once a year when in town and love it. Great challenge. Holes are well bunkered with elevation change throughout. The course is sneaky long with undulating greens especially on the par 3s. Top 3 GC in Lexington area.

First Time here

My son was doing a medical school rotation in Lexington and wanted me to come and stay for the weekend and play golf. I really liked the layout of the course. The front 9 was easier than the back 9. I was disappointed that the greens had been mowed that morning, but we adjusted.

Fun In Kentucky

My brother took me to this course [I was visiting from Las Vegas] and WOW. What a great experience. We were challenged but not overwhelmed. This is a course I will play again given the opportunity while on vacation.

Course in great shape!

Weather mid 60's, grass in excellent shape, greens were average speed probably had not been mowed that day but I putted great on them. Sand damp from rain earlier in week. Was able to get out ok.
Worth the extra $ to play.

been a long time coming

I have waited for years to play here, a canceled tourney in hs, a couple rain outs, and everything else has kept me off this course. It was worth the wait. Very nice course, not prestine, but for October, it was decent. The course set up is a mixture of birdie holes and bogey holes. A single digit handicap could post a good number if they knew what they were doing. My biggest complaint was the people on the course, I was playing alone, and quickly, and got caught behind a 4some where they were taking it very seriously. Which is fine and dandy, but it took them over 30 minutes to play 2 holes. So i finally just had to go around them. Some rangers or some manners would do well here, but otherwise I would highly suggest

Great Value thru Golf Now

Super friendly pro shop staff, was able to correct a Golf Now mistake that saved us $20.00. Course was in great shape. We played in just under 4 hours.
