Black Lake Conference Center
About Black Lake Conference Center
Not everybody realizes that the Black Lake Conference Center - also known as the Walter and May Reuther UAW Family Education Center owned by the United Auto Workers - is open to the general public. It was built in the 1970s on roughly 1,000 acres of remote, idyllic property in northern Michigan. Accommodations range from 228 rooms in the Lodge to a selection of condos, apartments and camp sites. With a massive auditorium, Black Lake is perfect for conferences, retreats, weddings, family vacations and reunions. Rees Jones added the award-winning Black Lake Golf Club in 2000. Other recreation includes exploring the surrounding forests hiking and biking or fishing in Burt Lake, Mullett Lake or its namesake Black Lake, teeming with walleye, bass and perch.Facts

Vacationing
Got a good GolfNow deal so took the long drive out to this course. Happy we did! Got paired up with a super nice couple which made round very enjoyable. Course is in excellent shape and layout was beautiful. We didn't have our A game today, but that happens. Putting was challenging Still enjoyed the course and staff was super friendly. Would highly recommend this course.
Great course. Ranger not so much.
Love the course. It’s excellent shape. Our group stopped for a hot dog at the turn and was harassed by the ranger for eating before continuing on to 10. Despite still being 8 minutes ahead of pace (according to the cart) after eating the ranger still threatened to not let us back out on 10. We ignored him and teed off anyway and never saw a group behind us the entire back 9.
I’m all for pace of play but this felt like unnecessary rudeness.
Beautiful Day
Caught a great price on tee-off. Course was in ok condition. I think we've had a lot of rain here or it's being overwatered. Greens were true but slow. Lots of ball marks. Waited every tee 15-20 minutes. 4.5 hour round. I'd play it again for the rate I received from tee-off.
Excellent layout. Great variety.
This was the first time playing Black Lake Golf Club. I definitely be back! Quality layout with great variety. My only minor complaint is that players need to replace divots and add sand. Not a complaint of the course but of players who need to take an extra minute to sustain the beauty of this top quality northern Michigan golf course.
Great layout. Good condition. Challenging. Because of elevation changes ....coarse plays longer than score card distance. Excellent value for a north Michigan premium GC
Other than the Gnats
Course was lush and in good shape. Thick rough, fairways overall good shape and greens were smooth and rolled with good speed. If it weren’t for the bothersome gnats that wouldn’t leave us alone it would be 4.5 stars.
Nice track
if the UpNorth feel is what you're looking for , this course is for you. Great staff and GPS.
This is a must play if in the area
Everything was perfect with the course and the food at the turn was great. Order the chicken wrap.
