Course in Perfect Condition
Got a great deal on GolfNow to playin Wed morning. This course is extremely intimidating with lots of danger, along with beautiful views. If you don’t play conservative, it will destroy you. Course in great shape and greens putted pure. This course is too difficult for beginners but a great course if you want something different and a great challenge. Staff was friendly. Highly recommended.
Unique Gem
This is a must play course if you want a genuine northern Michigan course with great elevation changes and no houses. Greens and fairways always in wonderful condition. From the higher points you can see lake Charlevoix and lake Michigan.
Surprised
Have played many times, but in last few years it was becoming a pasture..
What happened??!
Yesterday it was in great shape, mowed, manicured and new carts..
Then I discovered it’s for sale..
Ahhhh-that’s why..
Difficult Terrain
The course doesn’t really play like a links course, and while very challenging, most holes gain or lose 50ft of elevation making it difficult to shape shots. It felt unfair at times, leading to an average overall experience.
30 years
It was almost 30 years ago that I played here, course has a different layout, and some bunkers were a lot easier. As far as amenities the club house was very run down and no refreshment offered while under play , nothing available at the turn .
Do not play for more than $30
I paid up for the course thinking it was a nicer course based on the money. I feel like I got taken.
The course was in very, very poor condition. Fairways were not taken care of. Where there was growth, there was a lot clover. Greens were inconsistent and in poor shape. Tee boxes had very little grass on them.
The clubhouse was old and not maintained well.
My advice is not to play.
Good but…..
The course was in good shape. It’s a tough course to play for the first time but plenty challenges for repeat play. Cart paths were paved for the most part. It’s an oval layout so no pro shop stop midround. The “pro shop” is dismal as are most of the amenities. The one staff member was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed playing and would play again. But, it’s overpriced for what you get. Carts are old and no gps. No course maps anywhere. Nice course in its day but it needs to see a new day.
Nice course - needs work on amenities
Course was nice and challenging. Lots of holes couldn’t see/know which way to aim as you couldn’t see the flag.
Couple nice views of the lake - however lacking amenities.
Club house left much to be desired. Only small selection of can drinks - nothing from bar. No food available. Very expensive with what was there.
Course didn’t have a turn - didn’t see club house again until round was over. Didn’t matter anyway because there was no food available.
Finally seen a beer cart hole 12, they had a couple sandwiches and chips available.
Wouldn’t recommend or pack your own lunch.
A Bit Rough
The course layout was interesting and there are a few spots that have some amazing scenic views. The overall condition of the course was poorly maintained. The greens were the best part about the course. The clubhouse and carts are in shambles. Not worth the price or 5 hour+ pace of play.
Definitely not a $90+ course
While we didn't mind the course, this definitely is not a $90+ course. The layout is fine but, from the 'clubhouse' to the maintenance of the course, it's definitely not in great shape.
Bunkers in disrepair, disease throughout multiple greens. I'd say a $35 weekday course is more in line for what you should pay.
Great Layout
The course is visually stunning and had a great layout. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Downside is that the course has maintenance issues. Most bunkers unplayable and tee boxes were poorly mowed and maintained. Some of the greens needed repair also. Fix the maintenance issues and this is an outstanding course
