About Garland Lodge and Golf Resort
Ron Otto was the driving force behind the rise of the Garland Lodge & Golf Resort in Lewiston. The former owned built the resort into a golfer's paradise designing all four courses from 1987-1995. Garland, a rare resort where all four courses operate out of one clubhouse, is home to more than 400 beds on property from hotel rooms to three- and four-bedroom villas, condos and cottages, as well as 1-2 bedroom villas. Of the three dining options, the Antlers Bar & Grill is the most popular.Facts

Beautiful course
Most beautiful course I've ever played. Tough but very fun.
Have to love the water
This course had a lot of water hazards, making
it challenging. The fairways and greens were well
maintained. We were probably lucky that it was a
cool and windy day because this course is cut out
of swamp land. All in all it was a very enjoyable
round of golf, would recommend it to a friend.
Looking forward to playing the other three courses
at The Garland Resort.
REFLECTIONS
GREAT COURSE AND ALL THE COURSES WERE MAINTAINED MAGNIFICANTLY
Best of Garlands available courses
Beautiful layout. Challenging with tree lined fairways and water. Tees, fairways and greens were in very good shape. Greens rolled true and were above normal speed. Bunkers were raked and sand was playable. Enjoyed the Monarch the most of the 3 available courses. Saw deer, turkey, hawk and other wildlife while playing.
Golf course still nice to play.
We did not eat there. Driving range had not been cut in a long time, no range balls. Had to find our own out of the long grass. Bunkers have not been maintained, only a few ball washers some with a little water. Markers on some tee boxes have not been changed for a few days. Goose dropping have been removed from the greens but put in the front of the greens, not good for approaching.. The "half-way house" bathrooms very dirty. In general, course all right certainly not worth the posted price. My "golf now" price more in line with our playing experience.
Very nice course
Clubhouse was beautiful. The employees were all very nice and helpful. Course was well maintained and would definitely golf again.
Good course water everywhere
Water on almost every hole. Challenging course from the back tees
Excellent, except...
Course was in excellent condition, but... no ball washers anywhere, very limited water on course, new carts
Reflections-May 31 2014
Outstanding track with excellent dining (before ans after golf). Course was EMPTY and my wife and I played in just over 3 hours. Will definitely return again, especially if GolfNow continues to offer rounds here for $25!
Garland - Swampfire
Garland Resort's Swampfire Course was challenging and a joy to play for me, but also provided a reasonable test from the red tees for my wife; who carries a 30 Index. She was able to navigate the course without frustration, at least.
There's water in play on 15 holes and almost every fairway is cut tight to the woods. But, there's usually a bailout side and there are very few bunkers. Precise tee shots are required to score and the rough, while penal, is not ridiculous.
Greens Stimpped about 11-12, were tough to hold hitting from rough and undulated within reason. Again, a bailout is available on all of them if you're in position on the fairway. Par 3's were all fun shots, no crazy elevation changes, but some. Doglegs on the 4's & 5's were evenly spread right & left. So, working the ball both directions will help lower scores.
Very picturesque, holes wind through swamps, hence the name, and few, if any, holes can be seen from another. The perception was we had the course to ourselves and we finished our round in 3 hrs 25 min; typical for us.
Bring your bug spray; it's the north woods. But, worth playing, IMO.
Amazing Garland
I golfed the reflections course and was amazed at the beauty and the condition of the course. Ive golfed 9 different courses so far since April and none of them are as well kept as Garland. The rolling hardwood fairways and lush green grass and the best looking and playing greens ive ever been on make this a must play top ten. If you don't golf this course you are truly missing out on one of Michigan's must beautiful and challenging golf courses
Garland Swampfire
Very challenging. Tight and not long, even from the blue tees, and a test of course management. Must keep the ball in play. In good shape despite the tough winter.
The venue is incredible
One of the most beautiful courses I have ever played in Michigan!
Eagles, and Herons, and Monarchs Oh My!
We played the Monarch course and were treated to exceptional conditions and breathtaking views. With bald eagles and great blue herons and incredible lakes and rivers, you almost forget that there is an amazing course wrapped around all the scenery. The long fairways are protected by majestic pines with lots of dog legs and bends that demand driving accuracy and shot placement. Lots of elevated greens that roll very smooth and true
Scenic Course
Beautiful course design. Conditions were mediocre, but the course has only been open for about 2 weeks and this winter was quite severe in northern Michigan. I will definitely play this course again, but I will be keeping my eyes open for a good deal from Golfnow to make it a bit more affordable.
