Inn at St. John’s
About Inn at St. John’s
This unique property became a golf resort in 2006 when the former St. John's Provincial Seminary reopened as the Inn at St. John's, a boutique, four-diamond property adjacent to the 27-hole Brae Burn Golf Club. The 118-room inn features Romanesque architecture, two ballrooms with 25-foot ceilings, a two-story atrium and 22 meeting rooms. The more casual Burger Loft complements the fine dining 5ive Steakhouse and Bar. The course, dating to 1923 before a third nine was added in the 1990s, shares its site with Carl's Golfland at St. John's, one of the country's premier golf stores. There's also a covered, heated range at Carl's to bang balls year-round to prepare for your battle with "The Monster" - the nickname for the 666-yard 13th hole, the longest par 5 in the state.Facts

Long par5, the MONSTER
The MONSTER,13, of course, 666 yards and it is not just long but it's ugly and difficult. The golf course is in good condition and the greens are nice. Most holes are difficult, I like playing this course.
fun time
if this course isnt backed up it is fun to play a round here ,i golf here about 4 or 5 times a year most times its not too backed up, some holes are dificult
plenty of risk reward
A nice muni, with a lot of risk reward driveable par 4's go for it in 2 par 5's but also a 600 yard double dogleg par five with a pond in the fairway at the second dogleg. Ive gone out here and said I'm going to destroy this track but then the great equalizer the greens, ive putted 4 footers off the green. If your below the cup go for it if not lag it close the greens will make you drink good thing they have a well stocked bar in a nice little clubhouse. Stop in, say hi to Brett and his staff and enjoy a round of golf, you'll be glad you did
Great Place to Play
Well maintained challenging course. Staff is great and the pace of play on most days is excellent.
always fun
great place for a nice round of golf greens are challenging
Home of the Monster
Brae Burn has a nice layout with Very challenging greens. Brett does a great job running the course and Denise is great at the grill. Tom Thumb is the best ranger in Michigan.
Nice- old school course
Convenient to where I live, greens are well taken care of for sure, some surprises and overall a nice place to play. Carts might need an upgrade some day soon . :)
first time
Played this course with a buddy on the 4th of July. Called many courses looking for a tee time 3 weeks in advance, was the only course to let me schedule and said I could pick any time all day that I wanted to play. Staff was friendly, course was in good shape for the weather (hot and dry) which meant hard ground and fast greens. Some holes were more challenging than others, but the layout was nice. Good course for any ability. Was nice to get out and play and will definitely be back to play again.
Tough track
This course can play tough, it has some very long holes and even some of the shorter hole are very difficult. The course was in good condition when we played it and the greens always seem to play fast, I'm not a great putter but these greens can humble the best putter quick.
Love old courses
Shorter course with interesting changes in elevation. Like leaving driver in bag for a most of a round and shot shaping. I enjoyed the change of pace from longer driver dominated courses.
nice course for a change
I have played this course several times over the years and have never had a bad experience. You must play most of the holes smart ( the monster in particular). I will play this course again.
True test of golf.
I've played Brae Burn many times over the past twenty years and always found it challenging and enjoyable. Some greens and tee boxes were being aerated, sanded and brushed. Wish I would have known that ahead of time. Probably would have waited until the following week to play.
Excellent value
Excellent value, great pace of play and easy to get a tee time.
Brae Burn
Best kept secret in town. Greens are not fast but roll true. Wife and I played in under 3 hours!
Staff
One of their staff told me that he does' like people who play at Brae Burn with Golf Now voucher.
I play with my family android were frustrated with his comment. Of course, I paid a small amount of money that I suppose to pay because I took a hot deal. The staff had not professional attutude when he faced to customers even though we paid a small amount of money as a green fee compared to normal green fee.
course condition
Golf course was in terrible condition. Not worth the time to play!
A place in the country
I have played in a league at Brae Burn for several years and find the staff to be fine folks. The prepared food, especially the soups are great.
The course is older but not surrounded by homes so the rural atmosphere is very nice.
