The Inn at Bay Harbor

About The Inn at Bay Harbor
The Inn at Bay Harbor made a splashy debut in 1998, instantly becoming one of Michigan's grandest resorts. The 116-inn, which includes one-, two- and three-bedroom suites, as well as 35 cottages, became a part of Marriott's Autograph Collection Hotels in 2016. Guests get pampered with a full-service spa and salon, two restaurants and a cafe, a small beach and outdoor pool on Little Traverse Bay and access to 45 holes. The 27-hole Bay Harbor Golf Club, thanks to an incredible setting that roams through an old quarry, forest and along the lake, is regularly ranked among the top 100 courses in the country. The Crooked Tree Golf Club across the street delivers more panoramic water views.Facts

Incredible
Fantastic track with a diverse layout. Every hole is special. The staff is Wonderful. Love the elevations. I'm a 10 handicap, but I would suggest playing the tips! You'll enjoy it even more! Definitely coming back!
First time on the Preserve nine
I've played Bay Harbor 4-5 times now but this past summer was my first time including the Preserve nine in my rotation. There are some really different and interesting holes here and Arthur Hills moved a good bit of earth around to create some interest and blind shots. It is generally in the forest the whole time until the par-3 9th hole which plays along the bay. The shot values are pretty close to the other two, more resort-popular nines, which explains why the members play this nine a lot.
The Links nine is very dramatic beginning with an excellent, brawny par 4 that plays out to the bay and doglegs right. The par-5 7th hole is the best at Bay Harbor and arguably among Michigan resort golf.
None of the nines at Bay Harbor are walkable but this layout was built on an exceptionally difficult former industrial area with residential considerations. If you can look past the fact there are some long cart drives between holes this place is as good as it gets in Michigan.
Love this course
This is one of my favorite courses in Northern Michigan. Stunning bay views, fun layout and great course conditions, especially for October. The staff could be friendlier though honestly. The starter was super nice and talkative but the jerk behind the counter at the pro shop needed a serious attitude adjustment. This isn’t the first time I’ve had that interaction with him either. It is what it is. I love this course and will continue to come back.
crooked tree
Course layout is great with beautiful views of the Lake and Bay Harbor. Challenging up and down track. Putting was very difficult the first time. I can't believe the putting green had no holes.
Staff and course outstanding
course is spectacular. My .wife and I only wanted to play 9 holes and staff was extremely accommodating..Elena was most helpful.
Don't lose her
Simply spectacular!
Golf courses simply don’t come more beautiful than Bay Harbor.
Links and Quarry are 2 of the most unique nines you’ll ever see.
Must play if in the area.
Felt like my local forest preserve course for 10x the price
Stunning views of the bay. Picturesque course hole after hole. Best Arthur Hills course I have played.
Blind spots
Great time at Crooked Tree. there are a lot of blind spots. buy the yardage book for $5 its worth it!
This course is a must
My uncle and I had a package through Boyne and it came with four rounds. We had a 9:20 tee time, and from the second we pulled into the parking lot, we knew it was going to be a magical day. We had played The Moore course the previous day and we thought it was great. When we approached the first tee here at C.T, we were blown away, and it blew The Moore out of the water. This course is spectacular. The layout is rather diverse, but there's a handful of dog-legs and blind shots, so be prepared to drive up to see
1.Where the pin is and
2. if the group ahead of you is clear and out of your way.
We were supposed to play our second 18 of the day at The Ross after our round at C.T, but it was so spectacular we switched our reservation and played there again around 4:30! This course is absolutely worth playing. Regardless of how well you played, you'll be thinking about the course for the days to come.
Amazing layout, unfortunately the new houses block its original beauty
Great course that has a lot of character. If you’re looking for a challenge, then this course is for you. The undulations in the ground were out of this world. It’s definitely a challenge to safely land your flop shot 50 feet above the green. Personally, I like playing at Boyne’s resort, more. But if you want a change of pace then come on over to this beauty.
Unique
When you play a course that gives you images of other courses around the country - that is unique. Couple that with Fall colors and magical shots I had that day - there is nothing better. Better bring your "A" game because you will be challenged and could be frustrating but what the heck, it's like playing in Paradise and what else is better.
Tip the caddie
Had a great day. If you have never played with a caddie, spring for it. And don't be macho. Play the correct tees. You will have more fun.
Awesome Lake Side Course, Lots of Fun
Bay Harbor was designed by one of my favorite designers Arthur Hills. The course is set in beautiful Bay Harbor. The course is part of a collection of three 9s Links, Quarry and Preserve. The Links is routed along Lake Michigan offering outstanding views and lakeside holes on the majority of the nine. You can be easily distracted by the lake views and stunning summer homes but focus while not overly difficult the Links course does require decent approaches and you will often have to carry, water or marsh to reach the green. The Quarry was actually my favorite 9 as you get half of the holes with views or holes with the lake in play or in an Amazing Quarry. The Quarry course offers a fun journey playing golf into a quarry, with tall rock walls framing greens and fairways. My game was challenged and I was stunned by the beauty and conditions, this is a must-play for anyone in Northern Michigan.
Thanks for the review!
