Pleasant Surprise

I have passed by this place so many years. Finally I pulled the trigger.

Being on the tail of dry season, there were some yellow spots, which is typical in Southwestern courses. But the course was kept well. Not too hard but indeed challenging and fun layout. No wonder it is Fazio course.

I would like to come back and try Desert course after wet season.

Somewhat disappointed

I played the Desert course on September 28. I was told that the course was coming out of overseeding. While the course was in reasonably good condition I expected it to be in superb condition. Some of the greens had some dead spots and one green had a plug/cup pulled out and an irrigation flag next to it. On multiple greens the pin flags were torn. Some were severely torn. I know from experience that these flags are replaced during overseeding at most courses.

We received a good deal to play Primm Valley Golf/$100 for a foursome. It is such a long drive to play this course it would need to be in a lot better condition for me to get out there again. CoyoteSprGC is a course that's a similar distance from my house and is usually in better condition.

One more thing I bought a drink in the clubhouse. I asked if there was a drink cart on the course the girl said yes. The drink cart came out on the first hole. I did not need a drink then. We never saw her again. Very disappointed! No last call!

Excellent public Tom Fazio

Not many public Tom Fazio courses you can play, esp for under $100. This one's a hidden gem and an all time favorite. Beautiful challenging but fair layout with great mountain vistas and no houses to impedes your views. Great conditioning and greens. Huge practice area with a grass range. 2 full championship courses to play 36 if you choose. Friendly staff. Not very busy so pace of play is fantastic. Well worth the little extra drive from the strip or city. It's a true hidden gem. I'll take this over Fazio's $600 Shadow Creek any day. Highly recommend.

Good Course

Started with breakfast here, good food and friendly staff. Always wanted to play here, very quick drive from Las Vegas. Course was in decent shape, some challenging holes. Greens were pretty good and rolled nicely. Not much fluff in the bunkers, the sand plays more like a waste area. Plenty of water handed out or available from the starter. Dont recall seeing a beverage cart on the course. Would come back again.

Slightly disappointing track

My twosome played the Desert Course because it was wide open with no wait. There were many dead trees on several fairways and many bunkers looked like they were in disrepair although the sand was ok for bunker shots. My critique is based on this being known as a "resort" facility & past experiences playing this track. I would expect a better maintained venue and with an hour ride from Vegas I may think twice before returning soon or give the "lakes" course a try next trip.

Lots of fun

Tight fairways w lots of well positioned traps to keep things challenging. Lakes course shot over several ponds and nice atmosphere with many waterfalls. Staff were amazing and very nice and accommodating. We will be back.

Out of the way, but great course!

Drove 45 mins from Vegas to get here, but loved it! Right from the starter to the ride back to the car, it was first class all the way. From Tee to Green, the holes were in great shape. Beautiful view from the clubhouse and the turkey reuben was yummy!!!

Always fun

We have played this course for the last four years when we are in Las Vegas. Yesterday it was cool, with some showers & high wind gusts so we got a great hot deal on golf now. Due to the layout of the course it was protected from the worst winds & the showers were off & on. We have played in much worse. Employees nice & we went out early as it was not busy. We has a great day. This is a great course in good & not so good weather.

Greens had a lot of ball marks. Too many lazy golfers.

Pace of play issues

Our round on the desert course went off without a hitch. Some of the greens are patchy due to winter conditions. Friends playing the lake course were held up on every hole and the group in front would not let them through. The course needs a Marshall to maintain pace of play. Lots of people around to load your clubs and clean them after your round. (Anything to make a couple bucks,) but pace of play is more important than wiping a little grass of the groves in my irons. Get a Marshall, at least on the weekends when it is busy.

Solid test

Enjoyed playing the course. Used a Groupon. Full range was nice to oil the swing after no golf due to Northern winter. Greens were good speed, but some greens had damaged patches near the edges but didn't effect play. Each hole was unique. Would play again!

Great Layout. Great Value

Both of Primm Valley courses are great, but the Lakes course is preferred if you live in the desert since it is a change of scenery. The Desert course may be preferred by visitors who want a true desert style course. The Lakes course has a fantastic layout that requires good shotmaking to go low, but also is forgiving enough for lower handicappers. The conditions are good but not excellent but the layout makes up for it. The course is priced reasonable due to the fact that it is about a 30 minute drive from Las Vegas so they can't charge a premium like other courses in the area. If you don't mind the drive, the seclusion of the course is part of the the charm since there isn't anything around but golf.
