18th Holes with Clubhouse, Crotched Mountain Photo submitted by GolfMentor on 07/14/2014
Spring Surprise
Course opened shortly after snow delay. Staff hard at work grooming course. Always friendly, staff, challenging course. Always fun to play here except- beware Golf Now Users: " Hot Deal" members will apparently be required to double up, and wait, for other Hot Deal players. The justification given was the "...high price of gas..." And, of course when gas trends down the course will allow regulars, even us lowly Golf Now/ Hot Deal users to benefit. Sure.
Course has great design but very very unforgiving
Challenging for an average golfer, tons of blind shots, lots of lost balls that were hit into fairway then gone..
First day out
This is a great course.. it was dryer than I thought it would be this time of yr.. its really very well taken care of.. this time of year it can be ugly but nothing great weather wont help with ! One of my favorite
Manager is a goof
10 am tee time I got there at 9:20. No one on the course except a single w 9:30 tee. Asked Manager if I could join him early and he agreed. He charged me an extra $20 for using a cart by myself stating that gas prices have gone up!! Meanwhile the player that I was paired with used a cart all by himself??
Ivan see why the place was dead!!! This manager just lost a customer!! What a goof
BTW the 10 o’clock group were all using single carts!!!
Still Fun!
Great golf, despite gloomy weather. Holes challenging, well- maintained even late in year, crews out there working. Always fun to be on this course.
Don’t wasting your time
Show up have to wait during checking in.
One man show. Running out golf cart.
In no man land
It’s okay….
Good Donald Ross layout, but a lot of blind shots, hilly, and not very well kept up. I would say 6/10. Don’t spend more than 45 minutes driving here, for the price there are a lot nicer courses. With that being said, you do get some good views being in the mountains but the best way to describe the course is quirky.
definitely challenging
I don't get to Francestown very often, but it's always worth the drive. Greens were quick, some tee boxes and a few fairway spots were worn but not a big problem.
Wonderful Day For Golf!
Great golf day, course in very good condition. Pace of play on back 9 slowed down by mixed foursome, but, good opportunity to take pictures of fall foliage.
Great Day Excellent Service
Course always fun, challenge well- maintained. And everybody who works there a pleasure to meet.
Great Even in Drought
Great day of golf, even in drought. Course in good shape, staff super friendly!
Nice scenic course
Overall the course was nice with great views. I walked the course which was a challenge in spots but not very difficult. The course were OK, the cart paths really need work. The greens were very quick and difficult to chop into without it rolling off the other side.
Beautiful but challenging
Played for the first time and really enjoyed the course. Though it’s not long the layout and rough make you really need to hit the ball straight. Greens were quick and fun with position being important for scoring opportunities. Loved the elevation changes and some blind tee shots make for interesting lies. Will definitely play again.
Great views
Pleasantly surprised by course conditions. Green and lush with soft greens. Considering the hot and dry summer we've been experiencing. This was a welcome relief from hard, fast and burnt-out conditions we've been playing this year.
Now the problems. Clubhouse is a mess, with equipment, boxes, junk haphazardly lying about. The 1 employee was friendly enough but was clearly in need of help. Restaurant didn't open to 3pm. Considering that they tout the place , you'd think they would be open for lunch. The golf carts are old ( this is common at many courses). Ours had a bent rim and wobbled down the paths. We were assigned carts.
As for the course itself fairways are all sloped. Hit it down the middle and hope you safe. Not all the holes but enough to frustrate you..
