18th Holes with Clubhouse, Crotched Mountain Photo submitted by GolfMentor on 07/14/2014
A deal no golfer can pass up
Any golf course should be commended for offering an 8 dollar hot deal in 2017 this course not only does that but is incredible as well! Very challenging course with roofing tar for rough! The driver isn't your friend on all but maybe 5 holes, think before you pull out the big stick! Can't wait to go back and torture myself again!
Beautiful Golf Course, but......
Had a beautiful day, beautiful course, really great staff, and great company, and US OPEN ROUGH. Granted, we're supposed to keep it in the fairway, but really 4" rough? C'mon...
Definitely worth the drive
Challenging test of shot making ability. Can be a little frustrating at times, but a fun change of pace from most local courses.
3rd visit
After playing my first 3rds here I found it to be an enjoyable course to play. front 9 harder to score and has more hazards. Back 9 straight wider and easier to score on it also offers some great views. with cart 3 to 31/2 hrs to play 18 with cart. time of day I played seemed to have course to myself.
early fall deal
great deal of $13 per person to play this great course built by the best architect ever! Course was in great shape in spite of the dry summer we have had. Kudos!
The only issue is that the course made us wait a half hour until or tee time in spite of the tee being empty the whole time. then when we made the turn they were sending groups off of #10 which to me is the worst thing a course can do. it slowed our round considerably. Poorly managed. In spite of this it was a great deal and a great day.
Challenging Course
You will use every club, the holes are that diverse. Tight tee shots, bunkered greens. 11 and 12 are confidence builders then 13-17 wreck your game. Fairways and greens are in good shape for local conditions. Tee boxes not so much.
Nice day on the links.
Course was very green during time of severe drought in the area. Greens had been recently airated and were full of holes. Fairways in great shape. Still a great value for a $10 greens fee.
Wonderful mountain views
Crotched Mountain is always fun to play. I live close by, which is nice, but the scenery here is awesome. Not particularly long but challenging. If you play a lot in Florida, as I do, you'll be surprised with the difficulty
of this course. No "cookie cutters" here. Uphill, downhill, sidehill - very few flat spots. It makes you think!! Drive to the correct side on 7 and 10 or, you'll won't like your second shot - huge slopes.
The greens are in fabulous shape ( for a northern New England course) and run very true. Not easy - but, true.
18 is a beautiful finishing hole. Looks easy - don't but into that!!
Mountain course with fast greens
Hot Friday midday round with a mountain breeze, perfect !!!! Beautiful course with great but very fast greens, compared to what I usually see. Fairways were very good, especially nice because July has been very dry around here. It's a mountain course, with up and down elevation, side hill lies and pitched, sloping greens. The back nine is the original Donald Ross layout. It has deep bunkers and low bunkers that you need to hit up to elevated greens. Don't go long with your approach shots, especially on the back side, or you'll have a tough pitch or chip to get on the green. Hit it high and land soft, if you want the ball to stop on the putting surface. I hit what I thought was a great shot on the par 3 16th. The ball mark was front edge in line with the pin. The ball ran about 50 - 60 feet UPHILL to the back fringe collar !!!! It's a tough one but a pleasure to play. Go, I will again !!!
I think the front 9 is the Donald Ross side, but great review and great course.
Rugged Mountain Coure
A pretty solid mountain course in a hard-to-reach area of NH. You almost need four-wheel drive just to reach the course (5-mile dirt road run up to the entrance) but it is certainly a scenic area. Good amount of elevation on the front and the back, but the yardage stakes in the fairway give a good sense of what club to hit off the tee and into the green. Greens were in good shape, but conditions get a little shaggy once you venture even slightly off the fairway. Could have used a ranger during my round as I got stuck behind a rather rude fivesome, which made for a longer day than necessary. Overall is a good course to try, but there are better mountain courses in the state.
great condition and beautiful scenery everywhere.
Great course, challenging and fun!! Great views too!!!
Get crotched
nice layout course was in great shape
Mountain is not just part of the name
Don't expect to see a flat lie all day. Do expect to have uphill putts roll back to your feet and downhill putts - good luck.
Not my cup of tea, I don't like that kind of golf, I left after nine. Not an indictment of the course, just not my cup of tea.
Great day at crotched
Beautiful April day in the 70's. For early season the course was in great shape. Pro shop staff was awesome and pace of play was great. Will return again to play
Crotched Mountain a great place to play.
The course was in great shape. The speed of the greens was very consistent. The course is in the best shape I have ever seen.
Its so nice
I brought a freind to the corse and he was blown away. I love this corse its a great place to play and enjoy golf
Great condition!
Enjoyed the course. Fairways and greens are in great condition. Course can be challenging due to its hilly location.
The Crotch was sweet today for a late fall course, greens are mint, fairways clear of leaves too, but plenty still on the oaks. Holes 2,7,13,15 &17 blind tee shots have to be straight up the middle, 15th green rolls off sharp right.
