Mountain Creek Resort
About Mountain Creek Resort
Mountain Creek Resort is a four-season destination in Vernon, N.J., just an hour outside of New York City. It features a waterpark; the 27-hole Great Gorge course, which was purchased in 2018; the Treescape Aerial Adventure Park, home to zip-lining, climbing obstacles and rope walks; and a Bike Park of 52 trails that is loaded with jumps and 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The course was part of the old Playboy Club in the 1970s and 1980s, attracting famous names such as Dean Martin and Bob Hope for a game. It’s a beautiful property with wonderful mountain views and elevation changes. Guests can stay in the Appalachian hotel or enjoy more space and privacy in a one- to three-bedroom townhome rental at Black Creek Sanctuary. Both accommodations offer outdoor pool and hot tub facilities.Facts

Beautiful Course but pace of play is horrendous
Both times I’ve played here this year the round has been close to 6 hours. They overbook tee times and you never start on time. The starters are very unorganized. If this course was ran better it would be an excellent value because it is a beautiful course.
Very unique layout, plays longer than listed, scenic
Played on a weekend, very busy, started later than tee time booked and had a 5 hr+ round. Reviews are accurate, the course is very scenic and the layout is nice. Plays longer than listed yardage as many holes run up hills and many greens are sloped back to front.
Very cool starting tee shots off cliffs on at least 2/3 of the 9 hole courses. I would come back but definitely not on a weekend as it could easily be an all day ordeal.
Aside from the course but on the property, its crazy to see the 800+ room resort deteriorating and look like a relic of the past. It used to be owned by Playboy and has a really interesting history worth looking into. Worth playing at least once just to see a place that probably held some crazy parties back in the day.
Pristine Weather
Course was beautiful. Weather was ideal. The layout is a classic challenging test of golf.
I like the convenience of a range and why I play there instead of the county courses. I’m disappointed in the new set up.
Nice course packed with golfers
It is too good the weather to pass on playing golf. Golf course is in good condition. It is a little challenge when the somewhat challenged courses are packed with golfers with different level
Great Gorge is GREAT
Guys just a heads up, staff at GG is amazing, course is one of the best values you will ever find in NJ. If you are having issues booking or with the price, it’s all on Golf Now. Golf Now is one of the worst necessary evils of my life. Dealing with their stupid is the bane of my existence but what can we do until a real competitor comes along.
Getting pricy
I've been playing this course for years now.I think it's one of the most scenic courses I've ever played. Always in good shape, people working there are fantastic, and the restaurant/bar is beautiful. Weekend prices are a ridiculous $95!! Not worth that. Especially with the hideous weekend pace of play. Save your money and play during the week! It runs around $53 with cart and the HOT DEALS will only cost you around $25. Overall, I will definitely be back in the future.
Interesting but disappointing
It was my first time here. There was a delay getting out. It seemed like they overbooked things. They had to wait for cars to give out. Then during the brutally hot day there was no beverage cart that came out in the nine holes. So, I left after nine and doubt I will go back.
Well worth the what we paid to play. Course scenic and in great shape. Couple of improvement areas are that the driving range is in serious need of new mats. They are badly chewed up. The cart pats are not in great shape either. Other than that a great venue.
FATHER DAY GOLF
Had a 12:00 tee time, looked very busy when we pulled up. Checked in no problem, was out on the 1st tee by 12:02. Thought is would be a slow day of golf being Fathers day. Round moved nicely. Think due to the 3 9hole courses. We played Lake and Quarry. Both were in good shape (nice courses overall). Cart paths--another story--they are rough, they need to be repaved. Very bumpy. Price is a bit high to play often, but would recommend for a special occasion. Cheaper spots around with same quality.
Great Value
Pretty impressed for the value. However I would not book this course through GolfNow. GolfNow has screwed everything up with their tee times and pricing and made my experience very frustrating. If I was the course manager I would be furious at GolfNow because it is giving the course a bad name based on their mistakes and unfortunately the course will not honor the deals that have been so misleading
Experience
Most greens are small which makes it tough. Golf carts need replacing badly...
