Great Gorge Golf Club - Rail/Lake Course
About
Great Gorge Golf Club is situated on 500 acres of naturally preserved land, nestled in the Vernon Valley between the Wawayanda and Pochuck Mountain Peaks. Designed by George Fazio in 1970 on behalf of Hugh Hefner for his Great Gorge Playboy Club, the course boasts 3 championship nines: Rail, Lake and Quarry. With four tee box options, the course is manageable for newer golfers yet challenging for lower handicap players, making Great Gorge an ideal venue for all golfers.

Golfer Reviews
Shadowless
Great place to play, staffs are very kind and friendly.
Good Value
Well maintained.
The only knock I have is the greens could be faster... but it rained the night before, just like 3 other times I played there this year. And, a few other times it was so dry and hot. You can't knock them for not cutting the greens short in either case.
This past time, there were two outings and the course/starters make sure this didn't interfere with our rounds. So many times golf courses don't show respect to the individual golfers like they did here.
Great restaurant service. We have stopped for lunch each time, due to outing the chef was running way behind dealing with making food for them. Our waitress could have let us sit and stewed waiting for our food, and we would have left unhappy, but instead she came over to explain and give us the option to either leave to go to another place or wait approx 20-25 mins. We still waited but we're not unhappy. What a win for the restaurant thanks to a very smart waitress.
I am very reluctant to post this review, I don't want the place getting so busy I won't want to go.
Great Gorge
Staff very accommodating and friendly. Course in good shape given prior evening rain. Would recommend.
Very difficult course for me
The course rough too thick so very difficult to find your ball and hit out of it. I’m not a big hitter, so I found the holes too long. The cart paths are in need of repair. The fairways were in excellent condition. I would only recommend this course to a good golfer
Great course but aerated
Course is beautiful but greens were the expectedly aerated. I saw no warning on GolfNow website
That was the only issue. We will go back after aeration complete.
everything good
Four of us played today, and everything was absolutely top-notch from start to finish.
Course in excellent shape . Cart paths need repair
Terrible Course Management
Course conditions were great! Extremely slow round for a monday and having 36 holes. Finished front 9 in 2 hours and 50 minutes. Back 9 was worse! Took an hour to play the first 2 holes on our second 9. Called the pro shop and they sent the ranger out. Came to our group and said yeah, there is a two some and foursome in front of us and then beyond them were 3 open holes so we should skip holes to get in front. We were expected to give up holes instead of course enforcing rate of play. total round was 5 hours 40 minutes.... On a monday,on a course with 36 holes. Was very excited about playing here and the course layout and conditions didnt disappoint, but the pace and lack of enforcement put a terrible taste in our mouths. Sad to say i have no interest in coming back to play again.
