Great Gorge Golf Club - Rail/Lake Course

About
Great Gorge Golf Club is situated on 500 acres of naturally preserved land, nestled in the Vernon Valley between the Wawayanda and Pochuck Mountain Peaks. Designed by George Fazio in 1970 on behalf of Hugh Hefner for his Great Gorge Playboy Club, the course boasts 3 championship nines: Rail, Lake and Quarry. With four tee box options, the course is manageable for newer golfers yet challenging for lower handicap players, making Great Gorge an ideal venue for all golfers.

Good value
Course is in very good condition overall. Cart paths a little rough, but with golf now prices, place is a steal.
Avoid Quarry course
Horrible layout, blind holes, course condition poor
Hidden gem
Other than some rain it was a great day. Course was in very good condition. Greens were in very good shape for late summer and all the play. THe staff from inside to starter were friendly and helpful. Beautiful views made for a wonderful golf experience.
Better but
Course in much better condition than in years past although cart paths and parking lot still in bad condition.
Pace of play very slow..we were a foursome waiting on every hole behind a very slow twosome.
Some fairways are bumpy like 5,6 on lake..water doesn’t drain well.
Good course, good potential
Played with friend on Golf Now deal. Pace of play was very slow, almost 5 hours. Course ok condition. But I love the course as being challenging and over all a great place. Carts were worn and course conditions just ok.
Overall Great Gorge is the best course around!
Always have a great experience playing at Great Gorge!
Great layout with tees that challenge any golfer. Scenery is outstanding, Wish I lived closer but the 1 hour drive is well worth ! Kudos to the staff and all the workers, this place is a gem!
GG golf
I play it every year love the course layout one of my favorite courses of all time a treat every time go and play it lastly make sure you tee off from the green tee on the 1st hole on quarry what a view of the mountains
Wet soggy fairways
Some holes are very pretty while others with standing water (usually around the lake, feel like a local muni) I play this course about once a year and can be an extremely nice track if they invest in course conditions.
Rail/Quarry
Have not played great Gorge in a few years. It was fun to play and a very nice course. Will see it more often
